- I'm Nat Napoletano, a sound designer with 30 years of experience designing and composing sound and music for documentary videos, games, military flight trainers and live theater. I have a good deal of trouble staying asleep and have produced numerous videos that work well. This series of videos represents the best of the best.
The sounds are mostly drones from motors and machines. I find that music doesn't work well for me because it contains an intellectual component that alerts my brain, and I begin listening to the music. Even if I compose the music myself.
This video will sound good on a laptop or mobile device.

No singing in it, It is a noise caused by vibration in the iron enclosure. The vibration is caused by stray magnetic fields causing the enclosure and accessories to vibrate

As a child, I always heard these sounds because most buildings still used fluorescent bulbs I miss the sound the world is too quiet with these LED bulbs.
I agree. The humming helps me ignore my tinnitus.
Going for a summer nights stroll through town was made worse by LEDs as well. I miss that soft orange glow from the old sodium bulbs.

I like how it's soft and has the harmonics you usually hear with large electronics or overhead power lines. It's not just a 60hz tone. Very nice, thank you.
looking at it under a spectrum analyzer its mostly 120hz and 240hz and theres a little bit of 300hz 360hz 480hz 600hz and 720hz
I searched for this after watching Serial Experiments Lain. Didn't expect at all that lot of people did the same.

It is when it comes through your guitar amp. Especially when using heavy amounts of distortion, making it 30 times more pronounced. That's why humbuckers were invented.
I grew up with a transformer next to my bedroom window as a kid, this noise is not a comfort, it is an reminder of my insomnia. lol

just read a post about a guy who was electrocuted (and lived) by a 277-volt live line. He says all he knew in the moment was a throbbing, convulsing feeling, a loud 60-cycle noise hum, and bright white light taking his entire FOV.
Multiple electrical burns but hes still living apparently... absolute mad lad unit, that man.

The sound of summer
I feel very attached for that kind of nostalgia that these channels which their last update was like 10 years ago make me feel. Most of them have such great and underrated content

This sounds so calming I didn’t know some power lines can produce such calming hums sometimes listening to this helps me fall asleep at night sometimes i even listen to this in the day when I’m sad or stressed this even sounds like a soft relaxation too

I heard this hum as a small child in bed. I was unable to move ...I was not frightened just felt like I was in a limbo land.. I hear this today and my mind and body melts..

For someone who works with live sound that sound is unnerving
I'd lose sleep because it reminds me of all the time wasted tracking down faulty grounds.
I absolutely love this! I used to be into CB/Amateur Radio/Shortwave and I would find a clear frequency and just listen to the static sometimes. It was so relaxing. I’ve been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately. I played this the other night while in bed and fell asleep within minutes. Thank you for this!

Hell yeah! I'm into SW too and love that sound. My family (understandably) finds the sound irritating, but I often fall asleep listening to the crackling, cosmic shrieking, and occasional voices breaking through, often screaming about some strange topics. Puts me right to sleep.
Sometimes a very specific pattern of static plays mainly on the 13m band at night and it's creepy as hell but soothes me because I've grown so fond of radio. It sounds a lot like Giygas' theme from Earthbound and will play this haunting frequency layered in static that grows more intense for about 12 seconds before stopping abruptly and then repeating a couple seconds later at regular intervals, just a different pitch each time. It sounds so unnerving and malicious but I love it.
Switching frequencies at certain times typically results in finding Brother Stair howling about some cult type shit which is truly terrifying, so I'll stick with the unnerving yet soothing static to sleep😅

This specific frequency range can help you determine if you are being targeted by radio technology/towers. I know because I used to have a license and my own tower. I'd be able to beam at people with my equipment.

Yes and no, half of Japan runs on 60hz. But that always bothers me in movies in and shows not in North America that use the 60hz hum
Eastern Japan 50 hz. Western 60 hz. Many appliances have switch for changing 50 or 60 hz.
The Saudi Arabian electric system probably ran at 60 Hz
