    Thank you for being a considerate content creator and doing some research about lamps before talking about them ❤ also a note on the dust collector - since it's water filtration most would dump it out into the sink but this will only add more microplastics to our oceans, so it would be good to actually soak up the used water with a paper towel and throw it out instead. Just anything to minimise our impact on the earth ❤🌎

      Great advise, thank you! 🥰 I did a bit of research when I got it, and at least in my area our sewage facilities filter out particles this size (or at least they claim to) but I suppose you never know. It's definitely a good idea to wipe it out and toss it! I just really liked the idea of not going through a bunch of disposable filters as well 😊 We absolutely want to keep this planet as healthy as possible for as long as possible ❤️

    big yes to nail safety!! I purchased the Kokoist infinity lamp last summer and absolutely love it - going strong & no issues (I'm due to do a curing test since it's been a year just for peace of mind). So happy you could upgrade your lamp & that 90 second option is so useful too 🥹 I tend to use a cardboard box I cut out just to cover the entrance of the lamp when it's on with press ons in it curing, since I didn't want the light coming at me loool 🤣- maybe you could do something similar? going to come back to this video when I've finished watching but so excited for an hour long video!! we're spoilt 🥰

      Yes, so excited about the upgrade! It was long overdo, and though my wallet hurt, I thought it was worth it to be safe 😊 The cardboard cutout is such a good idea! I might look into something like that because it sure us bright 😅 Maybe some small magnets around the edge to hold it in place 🤔 It's definitely a longer video, and I feel like I rambled a lot, but I'm hoping some of the information was helpful at least! Thanks for watching as always, Hope 🥰

      Of course, thanks for watching! I hope you like it ❤️ I've been using it for a while, and my only follow up advice would be to soak up the water with a paper towel so that you can toss the filing dust in the trash before rinsing. That way, you're not flushing the plastics into the water system, but you still avoid needing a filter 😊

    These videos are so helpful! Even tho I’ve been doing my nails for a few years! However, I’ve recently started getting into the Korean and Japanese gels! I’m loving the items but it’s going to take awhile to have a nice collection. It’s so pricey. Just did a $300 Sweetie order. I’m super excited but it hurts to spend that much 😂 I love Susie!

      I'm so glad it's helpful! I know the products are pricey, so I try to review whatever I can. TH-cam reviews helped me so much when I was starting to build my collection of nicer polishes! Hope you got some fun things from Sweetie 🥰

    Hmmm… I think I’m convinced to upgrade to this dust collector. I think it’s super important to have a good one. Especially because I live in a very small space and don’t have a dedicated nail area. Thank you for this review! I also love the innovation of the water filtration! It’s brilliant. Cleaning the filter on my current collector can create quite a mess if I’m not careful, which is pretty counterproductive. I know what I’m asking for my birthday! 😋

      Ooh when is your Birthday? It is a super nice dust collector so far, despite my user error 😅 I'm running another test on it this weekend when I take off a set, so I'll let you know how that goes! I've definitely been working towards getting high quality tools that will keep me healthy, because I've realized it's worth it to me to save for those better products to make sure I can do nails for a long time 🥰

      @@GetPressedNailsByC definitely!! My birthday is coming up!! September 4th! I usually don’t want anything but it’s a good excuse to buy this dust collector!! 😁 I agree with you, having good tools is so important. I find that my current dust collector erases all the progress I made while using it when I go to clean it… lol the only way it’s okay is if I clean the filter outside. I need a new filter and I’ve been holding off on buying them because I’ve been thinking about buying a new one. The Lima Linda is actually 100$ cheaper than some professional brands so I think it’s worth it. The fact that no filters is needed… that’s a selling point for me. Let me know how your follow up test goes!

    • @GetPressedNailsByC
      @GetPressedNailsByC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Aw well happy early birthday! Not having to worry about paper filters is definitely nice, because I just dump it all out in the sink and give it a rinse. There is a little fall out from inside the machine with the chalk, but I think that's because it's not meant for that 😅 I'll let you know how my second test goes though! 🥰

    Very nice haul!!! Oh wow lol they pack the collector with the charging brick. You don't see that anymore 😅 love MS drills! I prefer LED lamps because the cure time is shorter. Thank you for sharing! 💚

    I have a question, since I didn't uderstood the dust collector entirely. The dust is going to be collected into the water tank? Dispersed into the water?

    • @GetPressedNailsByC
      @GetPressedNailsByC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! Yes, all of the dust is sucked into the back of the machine where it's then deposited into the water reservoirs. That way there's no dust flying around when you go to clean it, and you don't have to change a filter! You just rinse out the compartments. It's not as strong as other dust collectors I've tried due to this design, but it works well enough and to me is worth it for the lack of filters needed. Hope this helps!

    • @ortik4
      @ortik4 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GetPressedNailsByCok then it works as I fear it would. Why they did such a thing? I guess you flush the reservoirs in your house pipings: that is LITERALLY water with micro-plastics.

    • @GetPressedNailsByC
      @GetPressedNailsByC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's definitely a valid concern! At least where I live, waste water goes through a sewage treatment plant that filters out micro plastics, so it's not ending up in the ocean or anything. I personally am not filing that much either since I work mostly with press ons. But I could see how this version might not be for everyone. I guess I'm just waiting for science to create a way for us not to have to file and create the dust in the first place!

    How is your sponge like after using it for a while? Sweetienailsupply told me that you can't replace the sponge with any sponge. As of right now, they're not selling it and dgel usa website doesn't have it either. Just wanted to know the maintenance of this filterless dust collector before buying it.

    • @GetPressedNailsByC
      @GetPressedNailsByC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure I can be super helpful here as I don't use mine too often, maybe once every other week. But so far it's been really easy to clean! You can just rinse it. It's really more like a thick cloth than a sponge, so it catches the dust but the dust doesn't seem to absorb. Hope that helps some!

    To share my knowledge about lamps, when you hear the "buy the lamp that goes with your product" advice, that is advice that was directed at pro nail techs who tend to buy from a single brand in order to get extra discounts and/or because they know the brand application really well. Also, and importantly, if a gel brand makes a lamp that *usually* means they have tested cure times with their product so for a professional who needs to save time, you can be REST ASSURED that the advised "cure for 45/60/90 seconds" recommended by the brand is indeed accurate, because they have tested it with their own lamp. Time is money and that will save me time so I can make more money. The key for the layperson/DIY at home person is to follow your advice here - ignore wattage since that is just power USED and pay attention to the wavelength of your LED lamp to make sure it is actually 365nm+405nm (the plus indicating that there are two light emitting diodes). Then, cure responsibly - fewer lights are probably only good as flash cure, but the "domed" light units with reflective base can do a full cure GIVEN ENOUGH TIME. In that case, err on the side of caution and go for 15-30 seconds longer than the product says it takes or double the time if using "low light" mode to avoid heat spikes. Time should be of no matter to the DIY/layperson who isn't trying to book multiple people into a workday so they can afford to take 90-120 seconds for each cure. Finally, the cost of the Kokoist lamp partly comes from materials used - it won't get hot with repeated use (which most DIY people don't have to worry about), and it lasts 3-4 times longer than a lower end lamp. A good investment for a press-on business or pro nail tech seeing customers. I hope that helps!

      Aw thank you so much, Lydia! This is definitely helpful. By far and large the suggestion I've seen has definitely been to consider the wavelength. It's sad that wattage is being advertised as the most important factor for the power of a lamp, but I'm glad that the science and info seems to be catching up in the DIY community. There's so much to love about nails as long as we're doing things properly!
      I am really liking my e-file so far. I don't have a ton to compare it to, but it rotates super smoothly! And yes, the dust collector test was one disaster after another, but it was totally my fault. Sometimes I have good ideas that don't always work out the way I want 😅 it's been smooth sailing with it since then though! Thanks for watching as always, lovely 🥰

    • @LydiaKrow
      @LydiaKrow 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GetPressedNailsByC I wonder if wattage was just an easier way to put it since the assumption was that more lights would mean more wattage used? There are lamps that defy this convention, though, so I think it's best just to teach the real measure so people don't get confused or make bad assumptions about efficacy. Like when people were using coconut oil as a face moisturizer. (sigh) I do love to geek out about the science of nails, though, so I enjoyed this one a lot!

    • @GetPressedNailsByC
      @GetPressedNailsByC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That makes sense; wattage is probably a more familiar term. I just hate that some seem to be using it disingenuously. I am definitely learning so much though about science and chemistry on this nail journey though, which I appreciate because I like learning and having people to chat with about these things 🥰
