Yea we got some key pieces via FA but the majority of that team was built in the draft and by crucial FA moves 2/3 years in the making. Amazing some of the best offenses ever got shut down in the Superbowl. Just in the last 30 years, Buff Bills offense vs Giants in 1990. Rams in 2001 vs Pats, Pats in 2007 who were at the time highest scoring offense ever held to 14 vs Giants, Broncos #1 offense of all time in 2013 only scored 8 pts vs Seattle. Even 2015 Panthers who had #1 offense that yr were held to 10 vs Denver. 2018 Rams who had the NFLs #1 scoring offense only score 3 vs Pats.

The Chiefs' overall cockiness pretty much cost them the game. I was surprised how unprepared they were in all three phases of the game. The only three things they did well were kick & punt returns, FG kicking and running the ball. However, their game plan was so dull and shallow, they kept passing the ball even though CEH ran 9 times for 64 yards (that's an 7 1/9 yards per rush) and they had not worked out the structure for Mahomes to go to when their usual game plan doesn't work. They overrated the poor guy and didn't account for the passes he'd miss and the catches his WRs dropped. Why run around like madman if it's not 3rd or 4th down, when you can simply throw the ball away? The fact that that buffoonery worked for Chiefs sometimes during the season (due to Mahomes' amazing arm talent; and that says aa lot about the state of the NFL rn) doesn't mean it'd work when faced with a good defensive structure (look at Patriots undermanned D against KC this season).

So my understanding of offensive playcalling is that if the defense is playing 2 deep safeties and they started and remained deep then the QB calls a running play. There are 2 plays called in the huddle. And the QB takes pre snap read of the d to decide which to call. Why didn't PM call the run option? Make the bucs move their safeties up then hit them with deep passes.

Don’t start about the penalties! The Chiefs got away with murder, holding on almost every passing play against Buffalo in the Championship game. I would suspect that the league weren’t going to let them get away with it in the Super Bowl. Did the refs mess up on a few? Sure. But after last week I have zero pity. Zero!

Its not excuses he was literally limping between plays in the first quarter. He’s getting surgery on it this week so its obviously a bad injury. He didnt need to run and scramble in the AFC championship game vs Buffalo because they didn’t have the same pass rush that the Bucs did. Mahomes was putting way more pressure on his foot in the SB so it started to flare up.

Amazing some of the best offenses ever got shut down in the Superbowl. Just in the last 30 years, Buff Bills offense vs Giants in 1990. Rams in 2001 vs Pats, Pats in 2007 who were at the time highest scoring offense ever held to 14 vs Giants, Broncos #1 offense of all time in 2013 only scored 8 pts vs Seattle. Even 2015 Panthers who had #1 offense that yr were held to 10 vs Denver. 2018 Rams who had the NFLs #1 scoring offense only score 3 vs Pats.

The Chiefs' overall cockiness pretty much cost them the game. I was surprised how unprepared they were in all three phases of the game. The only three things they did well were kick & punt returns, FG kicking and running the ball. However, their game plan was so dull and shallow, they kept passing the ball even though CEH ran 9 times for 64 yards (that's an 7 1/9 yards per rush) and they had not worked out the structure for Mahomes to go to when their usual game plan doesn't work. They overrated the poor guy and didn't account for the passes he'd miss and the catches his WRs dropped.
Why run around like madman if it's not 3rd or 4th down, when you can simply throw the ball away? The fact that that buffoonery worked for Chiefs sometimes during the season (due to Mahomes' amazing arm talent; and that says aa lot about the state of the NFL rn) doesn't mean it'd work when faced with a good defensive structure (look at Patriots undermanned D against KC this season).
Bad game planning alone with Mahomes style of play. Taking 7 step drops while in the shotgun doesn't help the oline forcing them to play in all kinds of space smh
So my understanding of offensive playcalling is that if the defense is playing 2 deep safeties and they started and remained deep then the QB calls a running play.
There are 2 plays called in the huddle. And the QB takes pre snap read of the d to decide which to call.
Why didn't PM call the run option? Make the bucs move their safeties up then hit them with deep passes.

Why didn't the Chiefs run the ball more or throw quick passes? They had 2 back-up tackles that were getting their butts kicked, yet they never adjusted. They kept trying to throw the ball deep. I'm actually happy about it, since I'm a Bucs fan, but was surprised they didn't adjust. Maybe they were overconfident and in shock after all the success they had the first meeting.

He said he didnt play well and that the receivers were running routes that he wasnt on the same page with and yeah he said the O line didn’t block well because they didn’t. The game could've been closer as bad as it looked. KC gifted TB a td with those bad timeouts before half. And Mahomes hit wrs twice in the facemask in what would've been TDs.
Both of those facemask throws also could have easily been interceptions, especially the second one where it literally went through the hands of the DB.

They sure like to give excuses. If Brady was pressured that much and put up 9 points, they would have been saying he can't handle pressure,, but because Mahomes can around 20 yards instead of taking the sack like Brady, he's great. Why don't they have Mahomes do three step drops and get rid of the ball instead of always back pedaling or running around? That's what Brady did to SD in the 2018 playoffs to negate their pass rush. KC has Hill who is the quickest and fastest guy in the league so he can get open quickly. Their bias is so obvious.
