The sirens creeped me out!!!
I was shaking during this because I thought the Germans were coming in real life but they didn’t thank god for that
Ivan Volynkin it is the 1930s what do you expect

My grandmother whom is currently 88 and born in 1931, was 9/10 years old when bombs hit her hometown of Dewsbury on 12 December 1940 and the surrounding areas. The anti-aircraft guns were positioned at the top of Caulms Wood (the local woodland area) there was a communal shelter about one or two streets away from her in Batley, one of her older friends at the time died in the blast, she's told me the most horrific part of the bombing was the screeching sound as the bomb shot downwards i remember when she told me she said it was 'hellish' which is probably the most accurate and appropriate description, Her father fought in the first world war too, driving supplies onto the front line via horse. I cant imagine what this experience would have done to him, all the PTSD and such, a truly truly unimaginably terrifying time.
Wow i feel bad
yeah me to i also feel bad
Wow I'm so sorry. I feel so bad
My great-grandfather died after a bomb exploded behind him in his sleep he was a sergent for the American army as my family fled from Japan and went back after ww2
flexing huh? my grandmother was born in the middle of war 1941 (Philippines vs Japan)
A salute to my great grandfather Albert C Sargent. You fought for our freedom. R.I.P. Albert C Sargent
Jessica Luna To those that died in 1940
Fucking invaders and theives
He's watching over for you, in sorry for your loss but I'm here for you and he will always be with you.
@@katappa5478 You can say the same with the British. At first they were the invaders of the island, because they're Germanic people and second, do you know how many people killed and murdered the British in Canada, US territory, Australia and Africa. It's the same, both aren't good, not just Germans.
This is a british siren not american
No but imagine just walking home from school and hearing air-raid sirens go off, light go out, curtains closed, people rushing for shelter and just panic that would scar a person for life
My Mum was born 30 September 1939, 27 days after WWII was declared. As a toddler, she tells me that she can still remember being led by her Mother (my Granny) by the hand with her elder brothers and sister to a nearby farmer's field to lay in the ditches of the field night after night until the 'all clear' sounded. In the pitch dark, cold night air, any sound would have been frightening for a toddler, much less the sound of bombs exploding. A different age....❤❤❤❤
If I were to time travel, I'd do it in this time in England...
Hex no, im not that brave
Killcard101 I’ll go back in this time love warnings going off
I might meet my grandad he was 5 when it happentd

I’m not brave because when the warnings were played in a War album today jeez that freaked me out
I told Mum not to do it
My great grandad, who is now 94, fought in this war. He was only 12 years old. I can’t imagine how he must’ve felt at this very moment
Mmmmm that’s pretty sad 😢

it must've been the scariest thing to have heard in that time
Still is
Was watching a movie that had an air raid siren at my grandmothers house whom had lived in Germany during ww2 and she legit freaked out screamed and told us all to get down. I had to explain the siren was from the movie and took a while to calm her down. I'll never forget the look of sheer terror she had.
@@elisefincher4478
Mummy had to calm me down after watching the warnings at night once. I don’t know how she can be very brave as I go on a rant but 1940 was controlling me
my uncle said everybody farted in air raid shelters
what when the warnings went off. I want to be there
XD great farting
Nice
I fart a lot so dude if I have to let it rip then I will
Fart? I would shit my pants
but the siren at 0:08 is a French siren and a British siren is heard.
haha I love the warning
I noticed the French siren too lol and the carters/castings heard sound a little more high pitched than usual.
True
Update from my ‘3 years ago comment’
The warnings still scare me
At 0:08 is a KM Europe 8 port siren
Narrated by C-3PO
Hennessy Blues illustrated by R2-D2
Directed by BB8 I guess
my great Granda was in ww1 ships and survived and he didn’t take place in ww2 but also survived that! I’m still so proud of him.
Why do I keep Hearing the same type of voice in the old movies?
Idk
BRO SAMEE like it’s always the same British voice when it comes to old movies or some shit
Sven I think they it has to do with the audio of old cameras and stuff
It was considered the 'proper' way to speak on recordings and transmissions at the time. It's called 'received pronunciation'... Could say our standards have slipped since then!
eaglepies 100% agreed
0:08 That Siren Is A Sirene Civile Air Raid Siren
Civil?
This is really shows what the fear is like and the music in the end is amazing showing them running
My Nanna said that when she was little and the air raid siren would sound, her mum would gather the kids together and hide under their shelter which was a Morrison shelter (a kitchen table with mesh around the sides). Her mum would be crying and shaking and I can only imagine how terrifying it must have been for people who had never experienced anything like that before. They would rarely have even heard planes.
I’d be going on an insane rant if I was there
This has to be the scariest sound in the world. I'm getting actual shivers listening to it
I remember watching this at 11 at night Jesus I hid in my bed covers thinking the Germans were coming for real
They were still testing the sirens when I was a kid in the 60s, so it wasn't so strange to us.
Maybe my mother was in this war but she was the one who took down a plane before getting shot... Mad respect mom.
My grandmother who passed in 2020 was a young girl when Clydebank was hit by the bombs. I remember asking her about it when we were doing a project on world war 2 in the school and her insight even though her memory wasn’t all there was fascinating. I can’t imagine how scary it must’ve been for her. I only wish I had asked her more about it at the time!
The fact they where playing nice music when. A bomb was gonna get dropped out of the air
They play this noise at my local barracks every Friday at 12pm even now, it’s such a distinct reminder of the war.
It also has a side effect of freaking people out when they visit...
Is there a full version ?? That would be cool :D
I know. 1939 won't bother me I would be saying yay and saving around
British air rad precaution video
The streets looked a lot cleaner then...!
rip to the soldiers who died serving their country
Ye rip to them
I remember my nan told me she and her four sisters ran to a shelter, one of her sisters slipped and broke her knee on the cobbles. She had to be carried into the shelter by two guards, one of which was her future husband!
Imagine you paused the video and the sound is still going on.........
Those are not British siren sounds. And the siren shown is French. The sound is like a high pitched thunderbolt, maybe chopper lvl 5
No they are British but speeded up to sound like american sirens. Films in those days were different. These are the sirens that were used in London and other city's and are still used in some places like Plymouth naval docks in the uk
But I do wonder why they had a picture of a French siren
As seeing how many wars that my grandma had been through. Now I know the experience of those wars

My Great Grandfather fought & served with the Cdn. Military in WW2, he was a young scottish immigrant and the fight was back home so of course he signed up and went to fight. He was deployed all throughout Europe but the biggest battle he ever took part in was the Invasion of Normandy on June 6. He stormed Juno Beach with the 3rd Infantry Division, marched thru holland & belgium i believe until he got to Nazi Germany. He will always be my hero for the rest of my life.
I’m sure my great grandmother wasn’t involved but was in high school in the air raid war, but she was 18 during world war 2.
bruh, baller's grandma was 18 during the period
My grandfather became a soldier during the war in Birmingham before he became a police chief in the 50s until retirement aged 50 in 1982
And he was 7 years old when the war broke out
As for my grandmother holly she was 3 years old when the war broke out
And I went past both my grandparents old homes in Weoley castle south west of Birmingham which they lived during the war years
I live in New York and I hear this sound every 6 o clock for some reason my town is weird I’m not even scared of it anymore I’m used to it lol

Imagine what the person recording this had to go through
My grandad who was 5 in ww2 , he lived in bury and I’m 10, he told me not long ago that every day he would sit on his back garden wall and watch and count all the plains. He also said that when it cane to the blitz time he was terrified!
My parents have got an air raid shelter at the bottom of their garden in London, the house was built in the 1930s. They’ve never excavated it which is a shame.
I think all the soldiers are so brave for doing all that
i showed this video to my grandpa and he said he remembers hearing the siren and being in a bunker.
Gave me goosebumps instantly
My grandmother said during one war when they’d see any plane flying over they’d get low and hide under anything
I bet that was so terrifying
I was learning about the war at school in year 5 and whenever we heard this noise we had to get under a table
*when the vedio stops but the alarms keep playing*
Me: oh SHI*
Absolutely scary never thought to be there
It makes me wonder. Just how long I would have lasted, as a claustrophobic mess that I am? I would have very likely panicked and then been smothered by my neighbors to quell my nervous thrashing and pandemonium. At least those sirens are straightforward. Short bursts up and down for the hide for cover, and then the long and steady (almost peaceful or serene) drone for the All Clear. It’s quite a shame those sirens are still in use today for still all the wrong reasons excepting tornadoes and tests. Thanks for uploading this, harrowing as it is.
I didn’t know that the air raid sirens were originally a higher pitch.
My mum and her sister were evacuated to the West Country at the beginning of the war. Then their mum went and bought them back to London! Mum said the most frightening thing were the doodlebugs/buzz bombs. If they flew over with the engine buzzing you were ok. If not, it was a lottery of death and destruction. How can we even imagine how terrifying it must have been.
Bless all those who died fighting for their country
The quality of black/white film is very good.
That is REALLY HD
@ rirox14. During the war I'm sure there were women who did go in to labor during the attacks.
My grandpa was born in 42 but his brother was born in 1927 and I wonder if he every seen anything crazy

Same here but after 8pm I feel unsettled watching this it’s creepy but love to experience it tho
You take off your headphones but you still hear the sirens
