PLEASE HELP! I bought one. Very comfy . But the voice box part feels wiggly. When I cover the valves where the filters should be, I can breathe through the voice part. Is that normal?
Hey try twisting a little bit harder. If you look at your filters and your mask they have different sized keys. If you need more help check out chapter two of this series @ 2.25. They guy is tightening the filters to the mask.
Sound transmission will always be a problem with full face respirators. The FF400 has a speech emitter in the front, tho it’s rather small. Other full face respirators have Voice projection units (VPU) for this reason to amplify voice, tho there’s no VPU for the 3M FF400 unfortunately
pretty much every mask that seals on a face requires clean shaven except for some styles of moustache. Like the other guy said the only thing that allows for facial hair is a PAPR powered hood or SCBA hood style. Some dudes have passed seal checks with facial hair but odds are you won't be paying for a professional seal test, also there is just so many movement variables in the field for a beard or stubble to break seal. For what it's worth, I just shaved my beard for this ff403.
How does one choose between ordering a small, medium or large model respirator? Does hat size offer any guide?
Medium size fits most people.

My filters are pointed in two different directions, when I attach them. How do I fix that or are they just going to be that way?

Hello my clients can barely hear me even when I talk very loud with the ff402 mask on. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

Is this respirator still effective if the wearer has a beard?
3m strongly recommends against it, although some people can apparently get a good seal even with a beard. 3m PAPR would be a safer bet.
