This is chapter 8 of NCERT History Class 6 Textbook titled Vital Villages, Thriving Towns where I have talked about the types of iron tools that were available in ancient India and also the sort of agriculture that was present during those times. I have told about the village life of Southern India and Northern India. Also we have discussed important facts regarding Sangam literature and Jataka tales. Also the sort of cities that were present during the era of janapads and mahajanapads have been detailed. The punch marked coins, the Northern Black Polished Ware and Crafts Persons of that era were discussed. Then we have talked about Arikamedu which is present day Pondicherry and its connection with Roman Empire.
