    Everyone tried to gaslight me into thinking “Odysseus” isn’t what that choir is singing at the end of no longer you and now I’m like “BWHAHA SEEEE”

      It isn't tho- it's been expressed there saying things that half to deal with the sagas by Jorge

      Actually not about all the sagas. Mainly the thunder saga which was the next saga after it

      For instance some of them are. Sirens song, mutiny, sylla throat, lightning bolt.

      Ok at the very end they do say Odysseus but only twice-

    • @SerotoninSiren
      @SerotoninSiren 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SushiSusu-n4w the very last two seconds where they say it twice is the part that I’m talking about. I know all the other stuff. It was a big debate on TikTok about what the last two second of the choir said and everyone would always say something other then “Odysseus”. But Odysseus IS what they are saying at the end of the song.

    In defense of “Hold them down”, I believe this song was needed in order for the audience to actively root for Ody in the next song. Although I hated Antinous, we hadn’t yet seen anything from the other suitors for them to deserve death. Without this song, I don’t think I would have cheered when Ody killed a man while he sung the line “open arms”.

    You can hear when Odysseus shoots Antinous in hold them down, it's as soon as he says channel the fire inside you soul (Arrow fires) it's not very noticeable because it wouldn't be in a crowd of loud people chanting and hollering

      Which makes sense! Even though his bow is loud af, that much noise over it would essentially muffle it.

    18:50 the motifs I hear are:
    - "Left a trail of red on every island" = "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves"
    - "Traded friends as objects I could use" = "Thunderbringer"
    - "Hurt more lives than I could count on my hands" = Scylla I think? ("There is no price we won't pay"/"Drown in your sorrow and tears"?)

    I feel like charybdis has two purposes:
    1) show that after love in paradise he now have the willing to live
    2) make the Journey feel more difficult, that way people can belive it have done before get in the water, otherwise is too easy to think "nah man, no way he got home that easy". It improved the experience on get in the water just after that powerfull and energic song.

    • @arcticlimbo
      @arcticlimbo 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I mean i dont think the journey needed to feel more difficult lol. But actually Charybdis was moved to after Calypso. Unlike in the original context where he crashlands on Calypso's island after encountering Charybdis. But in epic he runs into her after leaving as a last battle. I agree it serves two purposes. 1. To show us he infact needed to look ahead if he wanted to live. His time with Calypso left him empty. Willing to give up and he couldnt do that. Especially since he had to go through poseidon as well. So in my opinion the second reason is to give us a big boss battle that feels like the final boss. Feels like his last road bump, only for it to be the calm before the storm. Fighting poseidon turns out to be his "final hurdle" to become who he needs to be to get home. And to handle the situation at home when he arrives

    in the 2nd verse of would you fall in love with me again there are three motifs: ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves, thunder bringer, and not sorry for loving you :)

      @idkwhattonamethisacc513 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't think it's not sorry for loving you but mutiny with the line "there is no price he won't pay"

  • @nanimaroon
    @nanimaroon 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

    1st motif, I mostly agree on Gwendy that the motif specifically is Get in the Water with the line "Maybe you can learn to forgive" in contrast to "Ruthlessness is percy upon ourselves". I'd like to thinkthat it musically explains that Ody's been Ruthless and he hopes that she forgives it.
    Then the second motif is "Thunder Bringer" which perfectly fits him saying that he traded al his crew in exchange to getting there.
    Third motif is in Scylla in "Drown in your sorrow and fears" which also portrays well with him saying he hurts more lives than he can count on his hands.
    The last motif I noticed is "I can take the suffering from you" on the chorus part "If you knew all I've done, the things I can't undo" in Penelope's viola maybe implying that only Penelope can make the sufferings he endured worth it.

    • @dwell7315

      I'm fairly certain the lines are "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves," "Thunder bringer," and "I'm not sorry for loving you." The syllables/rhythm is wrong for the first motif to be Get in the Water, and the notes are wrong for the third to be Scylla. The third is the hardest to hear, but with the first two notes (corresponding to "I'm not" in the line) played while Ody sings "my hands" it's gotta be Not Sorry For Loving You. Also, each of those motifs directly reflect the lines Ody sings. The most red he saw spilled was when Poseidon drowned his men. He literally traded his men for his life in Thunder Bringer, and him leaving Calypso hurt her even though it was out of his control. I agree the last one is a bit odd to include, but it honestly helps show that he's not 100% the monster because he still feels bad for hurting her, even though he was the victim. Like her or hate her, Calypso's situation SUCKS and Ody being able to recognize that even though she also hurt him shows that he's still got his humanity.
      That also makes sense because those three songs are in order, whereas with Scylla or Get in the Water they aren't. I agree there's a lot of motifs all over this saga and many are hard to catch or figure out though.

    I don't know all the mentions lol but the ones I caught were (Odysseus saying he had enough = the cyclops) (Aiming for the torches = Scylla) (The suitor begging Odysseus = Ody begging Poseidon before he slaughters the crew anyway.)
