I made a comment about the AE 4wd buggies in your buggy video and here you've got the 4wd short course truck! What a great option. The buggy will just have smaller tires and be lower to the ground. For your yard an SCT is an excellent choice. Also I believe it runs standard SCT wheels and tires, so you have a LOT of options for race compound tires. :) I also appreciate that even the cheaper plastic shocks from Associated/Element still work really well

I've beat the living daylights out of my Pro4 learning to race on a 1/8th track. It's so reliable. I've even put a 3900KV motor in it and run it on 3s quite a bit. I've only ever eventually broken a front arm, but upgraded to aluminum ones. Love the thing.

Nice! I've blown the bearings on both sides of the MT10 rear diff recently, but that's the first issue I've had with this platform. My MT10 has withstood a lot of hard driving from my son and me too, so my expectations for this very similarly equipped Pro4 is for a durable machine.

I like your honest reviews. Not telling some sponsored car is the best... Could tell you about my other brand cars, but let me put it this way: in my experience race(brand) inspired "beginner" models perform mostly better out of the box than most well known brands and they are almost always fully adjustable and dont need upgrades like some popular brands do. This car is a nice example i would say...

@@RCTNT I am, as an Rc enthousiast, some what baffled about some peoples adoration about some brands. Like they don't want to know or believe there are other (better) brands. Also depends bit on parts availability off course, but then again, when its a good product you don't need lots off parts. I drive for instance with some friends a serpent srx mm with upgraded competition 6.5t motor and esc on parkings and off-road. We use them quite often, but other then some bearings, tires, rod ends we haven't had any issues with these cars and they are seriously fast (pulls wheelie at 50+kmh) and handle with some adjustments both surfaces like a champ. I've had lots off different brands and sizes cars, but this thing was also some kind off an unexpected joy to drive and good quality. I bed i would drive circles around, for instance a Bandit which i've also owned, if i would race that. I have to admit I also have learned how to set up a car in the years or what to change, but that isn't what makes only this difference. I sold the Bandit quite fast because off its "limitations", and that little serpent is one off my favorite cars now and makes me smile every time. Thats the difference in my experience between brand a and b and some good electronics. To be honest, this car is also my first car with adjustable race electronics which also helps a lot putting huge power down, but then again, if the chassis wasn't any good it could not handle such power...
That is what i noticed in the video. You just know in a minute if something has potential which makes it the more fun to run....👍

With the BL-2S Slash 4x4 having been released recently the Pro4 SC10 is no longer a cheaper option. But it is still a better deal, as for $10 more than the Slash 4x4 BL-2S you get a far more adjustable chassis with overall better handling and better running gear. You _can_ make the Slash 4x4 handle as good but you will need to spend more money on it to do so.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The specs of the BL-2S Slash suggest to me that it'll be about as fast as the XL5, though probably better on batteries. It'll also cost about 25% more than the Pro4 SC10 in Australia, and it still doesn't have a centre diff, sway bars and bigger brushless power. In Australia at least, the Pro4 SC10 remains the easy recommendation. In the USA it sounds like it's still going to be the better choice if there's only $10 in it! Thanks for the info!

For value? Yes. The Tekno SCT410 2.0 is in a league of its own, though. For an RTR, the Mojave 4S BLX is compelling for bashing. The smoothest runner so far, at least to my feel, is the Losi TT Pro I looked at recently. But the Pro4 SC10 combines features, performance and durability for a compelling price. It's not the best, but it's so good for the money that it's an easy recommendation.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@chrisvda7277 spec for spec, the presence of a sensor will not change the torque of a motor. It will reduce cogging and give a smoother response that's accurate to your throttle input, curving up as load is applied (unless it's FOC or similar, where load is accounted for by ensuring the speed increase is linearly mapped to throttle input).
But not all motors are created equally, and some will have stronger magnets and better windings (Holmes Hobbies, Castle) than others (Surpass/Rocket, etc). Hobbywing seems to be pretty good.

The Pro4 body fits neatly on the Senton.
The Senton doesn't fit quite as well on the Pro4, mainly because the front of the rear wheel arches are a little far back. You could cut them though, no worries.
Only other fitment issue with Senton body on Pro4 is the rear body holes are slightly too wide on the body. You'll need to cut about 5mm inward on the rear holes so they align with the Pro4 body posts. The front fits fine. All else looks good!

Ah okay, I have seen the G7P before. It's an ANT protocol radio. That's also a great option.
Cheap receivers here, including gyro options:
      a.aliexpress.com/_mLt4NWK
I asked chatgpt how ANT differs from Flysky's AFHDS variants. Thought the answer was worth sharing:
The Flysky ANT protocol is a relatively new system developed by Flysky in 2020, leveraging over ten years of development experience. It's an upgrade over the older AFHDS 2A protocol and utilizes a new generation of highly integrated 2.4G chips. The ANT protocol is known for its advanced features such as bidirectional real-time data transmission, allowing not just control signals to be sent from the transmitter to the receiver but also enabling the receiver to send back data like temperature and speed to the transmitter. This makes model control more interactive and secure. Additionally, the ANT protocol boasts intelligent automatic RF configuration, adapting to various needs like transmission data volume, anti-interference, delay, and distance, enhancing user experience. It also employs an automatic frequency hopping method to avoid co-channel interference, along with a unique ID recognition system for each transmitter and receiver to further improve security and stability. Lastly, the ANT system emphasizes low power consumption and highly reliable system design, aiming to reduce electronic components while enhancing stability, reliability, and consistency in production [[❞]](www.flysky-cn.com/enant).
On the other hand, AFHDS 3, the third generation of the Automatic Frequency Hopping Digital System, is Flysky's most advanced patented digital wireless protocol before ANT. It builds upon the features of AFHDS 2A and WS2A protocols, supporting bidirectional real-time data packet transmission and lossless data stream transmission. AFHDS 3 is designed for flexibility and adaptability, dynamically setting and balancing numerous parameters such as the number of RF transmission channels, channel resolution, range, anti-interference requirements, and latency to suit each customer's specific needs. It also includes features like passthrough data transmission for improved communication between devices and an intelligent automatic RF configuration that automatically optimizes the system based on the connected hardware and operational requirements. Additionally, AFHDS 3 maintains a high level of security with a unique digital authentication system for each transmitter and receiver pair and boasts low power consumption through the use of efficient components and transmission strategies [[❞]](shop.flysky-cn.com/pages/afhds3).
Both protocols represent significant advancements in remote control communication, offering robust features for enhanced control, security, and user experience. However, the ANT protocol introduces several new features and improvements, particularly in terms of system integration, intelligence in configuration, and efficiency, representing Flysky's latest strides in remote control technology.

If buying in the USA to bring to you and parts are not available, perhaps a Slash 4x4 vxl makes sense here. Have your friend also buy alu shock caps, a sway bar kit, rpm bumper and rpm a-arms. You should be sorted for parts and have a long lasting car.
Arrma senton 3s is another option. Have your friend also buy a spare drive shaft and spare bulkhead/diff cover set, and an alloy front shock brace.
Arrma mojave 4s may be fine too, but in Australia it's about usd700, so there's no way it's in budget. If it's a lot cheaper in the USA, then sure, it's a fine car.
The Losi tenacity tt pro is a superb driving car. My review comes soon for this one too. It's another excellent choice.

    Hi, Great video!
Got a TECH question, you mentioned here that SC10 has 3rd diff (central) in comparison to slash but which version? If I look on 4x4 vxl 3S, seems it has central diff. I am having rly hard time chosing my 1st RC and I am comparing Slash with SC10.
    Thanks in advance for feedback.
P.S. got high concern related to spare parts availability and custom gadgets in Europe for SC10.

You'll be fine for parts, IMO. I can get them in Australia and we get things after Europe, typically.
Only the Ultimate version of the VXL slash has the centre diff, if it even does. None of the others do. And to get it, you need you spend about a quarter again the cost of the Pro4 SC10.
The Associated car gets my vote for value. Parts shouldn't be a problem and the main things you'll kill over time are generic anyway (tires, servo and motor). You might want to check you can get RPM A-arms for either car, whichever you choose, as they'll be a weak point if you're intending regular big air for either. Otherwise, you'll be good either way.

@@RCTNT thanks for feedback. You are right, just checked and Slash has no central diff, but it has slipper gear which can be replaced with diff. On all forums i read that Traxxas has much better parts availability and different other parts, like fenders, covery etc.
That’s a really hard choice. My heart says Pro4 SC10 and my brain says slash 4x4 VXL xD

@krzysztofbentkowski92 haha fair enough. I think you'll find parts won't be a problem either way but I'm sure you'll work it out. The slash does want sway bars installed at least, IMO. They're after market and easily found on the likes of AliExpress and similar. Lights are helpful for direction, too, when the car is distant. And lastly the center diff really helps with smoothness on corners and direction changes.
All these things add up but they're all available for the Slash.
Of course, the Pro4 SC10 is cheaper and comes with all of that. It doesn't have a gyro, but it doesn't need it. The slash does have one, which is just as well!

    Hello from France.
I'm really interested in this sc10!
There is also a 2 rwd version with a gyroscope.
In your opinion, a 2rwd with gyroscope would be as good as the 4rwd?
Thank you in advance for your response.

G'day! A 2wd with gyro will still be outperformed by a 4wd without gyro, assuming the same driver and assuming a little competency. You can't match the traction of 4 driven wheels with two, even with a computer doing the fine counter steering to keep you in the right direction!
Better, though? That's personal preference. I think I prefer 4wd, but 2wd stuff is still really fun!

It's excellent. However, there are a handful of better 'drivers' in my increasingly broad round-up comparison series that I'm putting together. Still to come before the series is ready for the all-in-one comparison video at the end: Losi Tenacity TT Pro, Kyosho Outlaw kit, Hobao Hyper 10SC kit, Losi Baja Rey 2.0.
So far, of the ones I've done, the AE Pro4 SC10 is unbeatable for value, though the hesitation in the ESC at times can be a minor (minor) let-down. I like the feel of the Tekno and the Tenacity TT Pro on the track more than the Associated, but it's a solid third in handling and feel so far. Though it varies by driving style and terrain, so have your grain of salt handy with my opinion.
Bottom line, for the price, the Pro4 SC10 is a superb deal. The car isn't perfect, but gee it's well-sorted and decently performing for the money. The others that feel better to drive than this car are considerably more expensive.

@@RCTNT thank you my friend !
So I'm going to listen to you once again and take a sc10 4wd.
As you say for the price I think it's unbeatable.
I could always do a minor upgrade or two next.
The others are too expensive for me and I really think it won't be worth the price for so little difference.
      Thanks again .

Sounds about right! I'll GPS speed test it when I do my 7-way 1/10 SCT comparison video, once I have all the kits built! Looking forward to that!
