I live in West Tennessee and woke up to about 11 inches of snow this morning. Think if it's bad weather then the tournament should be rescheduled till the danger passes. Just my thoughts. Stay safe and warm Dieter. Love ya.

North, South, East or West- It's a no-brainer when safety for the public, emergency crews, and the fishermen is compromised by weather just pack it up for a day or two and everyone involved is going to be more comfy.

I’m going to be completely honest with deal. I was a victim of my own actions in a tournament, on a lake that had been fishing for 35 years. Long story short, I hit a log just under the water at full speed. Boat was a total loss, lost time from work because of damage to my body. The week before this event was very bad weather and this caused the log to move away from the bank. Please folks don’t be me

If the temps aren't bitterly cold and the winds are not too high, go for it.

If its going to be below freezing, yes. Not only can you slip off the deck of your boat, launching and loading boats on an icy ramp would be equally dangerous as well as the docks would be dangerous.

Canceling or postponing the tournament for ice and snow makes sense. It not only would put the anglers in danger but the people that would have to rescue them at risk as well.

I was fishing a surf fishing tourny when a hurricane was approaching carolina beach north carolina... volenteer firemen were yelling at me with a bull horn to evacuate, I could see the wall clouds of the leading edge of the storm, I caught a six pound flounder that got me second place in the tournament, then...I gathered my stuff and ran for the truck and on to the weigh in. : )

I’m glad they canceled the winter blues on wheeler about 5 years ago. If they hadn’t I think someone would have died. 4 boats sank that morning

Yes, that event and the social media response to it changed how many catfish tournaments are handled.

There are 2 tournaments planned for this weekend here in upstate SC. One on lake Jocassee and another on lake hartwell. I believe if the snow and ice is an issue, the tournament administrators should do a head count on those attending a few days in advance. Then if a certain percentage of paid entries cancel, cancel tournament or reschedule. It's not a tournament if 50 people enter and 3 show up. 🤷‍♂️ Thanks for the video to watch while everything is closing due to snow. LOL

Probably not prepared enough "down south" but up north that wouldn't cancel our ice fishing tournaments typically. Are most of the anglers staying overnight near where the tournament is held? If so, there's not much risk once they're at the launch. The fishing is probably pretty good during those storms! But, if there's a lot of traveling involved right before the tournament then probably it's a real good idea that they postpone it. I look forward to ice fishing during snowstorms. The fish are always biting!

I have been known to fish in bad weather, did so on Jan 1 as I do every year. But I stay on the bank when the weather is rough and I will bug out if it becomes too life threatening. People with a lot of money tied up in a contests might not do those things as money tends to make people stupid. Cancel/postpone for safety.

I love to fish, But it isn't worth risking a truck sliding in the river. Im in southern indiana, im not fishing for till the ramps are safe. To each their own. Happy tight lines.

Cancel. No amount of money, trophies, bragging rights are worth getting hurt. A lot of the fishermen are older guys, like me. A hard fall can put you out for a while. Good video!

Cancel for safety reasons. Better to be safe than sorry. Can’t undo a tragedy. I’ve been in tournaments with delayed starts because of fog. It’s a fishing tournament. Pretty easy decision for sane responsible persons. Lived through a bad decision to fish a tournament on a stormy day. Phew! Be safe.

Fish at your own risk. If your ego tells you it’s with dieing over a little bit of money or a trophy, Have at it. Bragging rights and social media clicks will get you in trouble sometimes. My 2 cents. Be safe. Love the channel

I think you cancel in a case like this. For example, if there is a fishing tournament at the Santee cooper lakes, I would imagine that there's going to be people traveling a pretty good distance from tennessee, virginia, North carolina, etc. Fishing conditions are fishing conditions. Everybody has to deal with them and it's fair across the board. However, driving conditions in order to get to the tournament can be extremely unfair for some. If it's a snow storm that spreads across states, it's a pretty unfair advantage for somebody that lives within say...... 1 hour of the tournament compared to somebody that lives 4+ hours away from the tournaments.

Cancel, freezing ramps, docks, boat decks, not worth the risk. Im not in favor of the early deadline to pressure you into fishing bad conditions. Seems selfish and a bit greedy.

No. If tou cant make it thats on you. Put your Purse down, man up. Or forfeit your buy in. Good lordly guys
Edit. I feel this way because no matter what i have to show up at work. So if the weather isnt bad enough to where I still gotta work that means i can fish. Grow a pair.
