We just did this to our Refrig in our Cherokee Wolf Pup. Pulled out the refrig, then changed out the glass fuse in the back and ran wiring to the front vent and with new fuse holder and 15 amp blade fuses. I will not have to pull refrig out again. Both fuses are now accessible from the front. Thank you for the tips and insight. Helped me greatly and saved me big bucks. 2 hours, inexpensive wire and fuses and I'm done. Headed to Michigan UP next week end of Oct for the last camp before winter. Thanks again!
My fridge stopped working and I watched you’re video. I removed that panel and found the ground wire rubbed into the red wire and it popped the fuse. I went to the hardware store got the same fuse and a new inline fuse holder. Fired up. I can’t thank you enough!!!! It worked!
Here's an idea our tech at our dealership did for our 2021 Grand design Transcend when the fuse went out in our refrigerator. He eliminated the fuse in the refrigerator all together. The refrigerator runs through the campers fuse panel anyway. Makes sense to me.
Same issue on ours. We just arrived in Florida from cold Ohio and didn't realize it wasn't working. Removed the fridge then the fuse and wrapped it in foil and reinstalled. Works great! I'll wire the fridge to use the converter's fuse panel, as it should have been done in the first place, when we get back.
God bless you!!! So I bought new batteries… nope… pulled out the fridge.. found the fuse with the one inch of wire to work with.. it seemed in tact.. I cried… I Cussed.. my husband with only one arm from shoulder replacement tried so hard to help me in over 100 degree weather! I came in and had a beer and watched this video.. my late husband was an electrician and I knew he had a continuity meter!!! I tested the fuse that did not look broken! Bam.. no noise!!! I tested the fuse holder ends after that… noise!! Pretty sure once we replace the fuse it will work. I will let you know.. thank you for making me a little bit wiser today!!!
So I pushed and pulled, replaced the fuse… pushed in more wiring connections and suddenly the fan turned on!! It’s working now. What a piece of work. I appreciate you guys..
Wow, this was super helpful! We have the 265BH, and out fridge died right after our first long trip. I searched all the forums and saw there was a plethora of people with this new fridge who were really upset and let down just after a short time of purchasing their camper. I actually ordered the fuses you provided in the link and then the actual inline fuse holder broke while changing it out… so I just wired in the blade style fuse and so far so good!
I am sorry that happened to you too! I actually know of someone else converting to a blade fuse themselves as well and have had no troubles. We are taking ours in to the dealer again, if they don't do the conversion kit, we will be doing the same. The fridge keeps popping them 🤯
Thanks so much for posting this. I own a 2020 Cherokee Grey Wolf 22MKSE with same fridge. My fridge stopped working 2 weeks ago and I found your video. Sure enough it was the fuse. I purchased all 5 from a local store. I sure hope this doesn't keep happening, besides being a pain to replace fuse, the constant pulling out of fridge to replace fuse will eventually damage the wood where the screws go into on top and bottom of fridge. This happned to us while on shorepower and after about 2 months of use. Initially when calling the dealer they didn't seem to have any other customers so far with this issue.
I am so sorry you had to go through this too! It is such a pain to pull that fridge out, and it was especially hard to find those fuses. I still don't understand why they put the fuse in a spot where you have to pull the fridge out. I hope neither of us have to go through changing that fuse again, happy Camping!
Thank you as well, my issue was corrosion in the fuse holder. Also replaced with a blade holder. I really wonder why they did it like they did… but a cheap and easy fix!
Your video was great. We just went to our trailer to check the fridge that was running off solar since the 7th. Mistake. Lost what was in there and still working on the smell. Our Transcend is a 2021 model. We jumped right to the fuse replacement and the fuse was the flat blade fuse. It tested fine. On generator the fridge worked. We should have started with turning the fridge all the way and and back on. It looks a back to running on solar. We will see how it goes. We head out tomorrow to full time in our RV.
#1. Enjoy working together while you can. When we were younger, my wife assisted with many projects. In our 70s now both of us struggle. #2. Have had our GD 2 days. Furrion 16 cu.ft. refer was cold, cold during the PDI. Turned it on yesterday (100+ outside) so waited till this morning to check it. Nope. But, the light is still on? Wiring diagram shows 2 hidden fuses…dumb. Anyway, we’ve never owned an RV that didn’t need re-engineering and/or re-building before it could be used. Never! Update: Two 40-amp auto-type fuses are located in an access panel and n a circuit board at the top of our refer…both were good. Output from the circuit board to lights, fans, compressor and such reading 14.5 volts DC. Pulled cover off the lower back and found the circulation fan was running but not the compressor. Hmm. Disconnected the compressor wires and still showing almost 14 volts. When I reconnected them…the compressor came on. Hmm? Was it a loose connection? Over 40 years as an electrician and I still hate it when I “fix” something and don’t know what I did. Thanks for taking the time to do the video!
Thank you. I bought a Kz sportsman with the same fridge. When the compressor starts there is a loud vibration noise it has been this way since I brought it home. Didnt notice immediately.. Your video showed me how to remove the fridge to get at the noise. Thank you.
Thanks for the great video. Our second time out and it broke at the campgrounds but I ran to parts store and converted it to spade fuse. Now it’s working great !
Furrion must have heard you because my 2023 has the blade fuse up front. Only catch is now they used a square bit screw. Sort of like a deck screw to hold the bottom vent on.
We just had the exact same issue on a camping trip (fun surprise). I’ll be trying to replace the fuse but wanted to check in to see what you ended up doing with the replacement. Thanks for posting, saves us time and money!
Same fridge in our Jayco. Thanks for showing us where the fuse is. Luckily we have an access panel from the outside so it should be easier for us to get to the fuse to test. Still…What a pain in the butt!
Contacted GD, they said they have no idea about this and referred me to Furrion. Furrion says they know about it but it's absolutely out of warranty. They were kind enough to email me the instructions on how to do it myself
If your camper is like our Jayco, they pay no attention to the appliance manufacturers installation recommendations. Furrion recommends dropping the wiring down from the ceiling of the camper, but mine comes up thru the cabinet underneath. With the fridge in place you have less than a half inch between the fridge and wall. When I took mine out,I had a good 6’ of #10wire wadded up and pinched behind the fridge with multiple bare places in the wiring. The “conversion kit” they speak of consists of replacing the old style fast-blow fuse with a new style blade type 15 amp automotive style fuse and holder. You can get them at any parts store . Removing and reinstalling is the worse part😢
Thanks a lot, saving my family hundreds of dollars. I saw on certain RV forums that your video was being criticized, well I dnt see them making a video to help others, just criticize...so again, we can't thank you enough....definitely buying some of your guy's merchandise to show support. Also, we have same camper, have u guys had any issues with the decals on the front of the TT? TIA
I replaced mine absorbtion with the same one you have .🥴 live the frig ! Ihave and access door from my absorbtion 😬😂😉 i came across your video loking for why my bottom handle sticks 😭
I have a 2024 Cedar Creek 40CFK2 destination trailer. Furrion refrigerators are still failing and I've had two, each totally failed within two weeks. Furrion is trying to figure out what to do with me but I'm not the only one who has had issues. They haven't learned to make reliable refrigerators but you'd be happy to know that CC does use standard snap in fuses. If it would only fix the issue. Sigh.........
Thanks for sharing. We just got a new 2022 Sundowner ToyHauler and it has the Furrion Fridge and it stoped working the first day out. It was a bit frustrating.
I just bought an Imagine 17MKE and came home from work to melted ice cream and thawing everything after just buying groceries. To boot the hot water is not giving good pressure in the shower. She going back to the dealer Saturday for a fix.
12:04, is there enough room to put a layer of thin insulation between the back of the wall and the fridge? I'm convinced that compartment gets too hot, much like any of the cabinets you open on a hot day.
We have a 2021 Jayco 5th wheel with this refrigerator and had the same issue this weekend while camping in Melbourne, FL. Fortunately Jayco put an access panel on the outside of the coach so we could get to the fuse. We found the fuses at Grainger in West Melbourne. The guy at the auto parts store we tried said these fuses are not stocked at most stores because they are for electronics not autos or vehicles, and he was kind enough to direct me to Grainger. Fortunately my husband bought out their stock of 15 fuses because the new fuse blew again today, 2 days after we replaced it! The conversion kit sounds great but there has to be a reason that Furrion used these fast blow fuses on the refrigerator? We are concerned that the standard bladed fuse will affect the performance of the fridge.
I agree, I am worried that they put this fuse in for a reason. So we are prepared with 10 fuses that we picked up from Amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B01N9ZTO1K/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_apa_glt_fabc_Y5ZGEM49FNHYPYW8WG7G?linkCode=ml1&tag=pickenspart0a-20
Brother, just today I had have a similar problem with my our GD Imagine 22MLE Dometic 12v only RV fridge. Mainly, the access to the fridge rear, we had to remove it from the "hole" because no access panel from outside of RV. Not a great RV design OR fridge design having to remove it completely for access to fridge rear. However, I saw no inline fuse back there. Must go to dealership tomorrow to inquire about the problem. Has power to it, runs for about 10 mins, then a dreaded blinking (level 3) light and rear fan stops running. Fridge gets barely cool, mainly due to short running time, but nothing else.
I know this is an old thread however I just purchased a 2020 wolf pup 16 FQ with this fridge. The light is on and the compressor clicks and doesn’t stay running. Could this be my problem before I pull the fridge?
Hello i pulled an old Norcold fridge out of a 1996 Vectra class A and installed a Furion 10 cubic dc fridge in, ^ months down the road the fuse issue. Mine was wrapped in electrical tape. Pulling fridge and all food was not an option. My access to rear was easy sort of. MY class a old fridge vent opening is an inch or so smaller than the screws on lower back of fridge. GRR. I ended up drilling four small holes through outside of rig to access the phillips screws . Fuse holder was loose. Like many others have complained about is this serviceable part should have been placed in an easier to get to place. and made standard.... Also fridge side cooling was borderline even with food spacing. Freezer ok. My wiring on the retrofit was 10 gauge from battery to fridge. I had two common house batteries. No other issues after fuse was secured. also fridge draws in air at bottom left and discharges warm air at bottom right. I think Furion engineers are the message..
Great video. You guys end up finding a way to fix this? I have a 2022 240 ML and I’m starting to notice the freezer is it working right and I am only had my trailer for a bout 4 months also I may issue I’m having is leakage issues.
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV got it, thank you. I’m going to give them a call today and ask, the fridge is working fine but the freezer top rack for reason isn’t freezing enough.
Our fuse keeps blowing. After replacing the first time in may it lasted about 6 wks and blew again. After replacing 2nd time it worked for a week. After 3rd time 2 days, 4th time 1day, 5th time 12hrs. I contacted dealer and they opened a warranty claim. Furrion came back asking for voltage and amp readings. I will be providing these to the dealer and will wait to see what furrion will do. Dealer not aware of any issues with this particular fridge. I’m surprised.
That is surprising. Mine is at the dealership now and they said they have so many problems with furrion 12v and that furrion actually stopped making them. They are waiting to see what they are going to do. They said they may replace the fridge with something else, but who knows if that's better. Wish you all the luck!
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV thanks for the info on the fridge. I wasn’t aware that furrion stopped making it. Odd furrion didn’t tell my dealer this. Btw, I love all your videos. Love the new Bronco! I just recently subscribed to your channel. I hope you make a follow up video once you get your fridge issue resolved. Cheers!
Great video. I am considering this fridge as a replacement for my 110/propane unit. Can you tell me if your 12v has door locks for travel, to keep the doors from coming open while towing, please
Run the wire wherever you want to have the fuse. But for the future you can wrap that fuse in aluminum foil to get you through until you get a permanent fix.
You need to check to make sure if your manufacture installed a 10 gauge wire to supply power to the refrigerator if they went with any higher gauge that could be your problem
Interesting, I am trying to think of a reason why it may not work on the battery. There is a safety shutoff that causes the refrigerator to stop working if the voltage drops to a certain level. Otherwise when our fuse was bad the refrigerator stopped working completely. The battery, solar and shore power were all not operational.
Hello I hope you can help. After extensive research I think I know the Answer but maybe you have some Ideas. I have a 2020 Cherokee Wolf Pack 365 16 Forest River Camper it's the Biggest Toy hauler they Make. It was purchased out of Patriot RV in Kentucky and I live in NY. Since day 1 this 10.3 CF Furrion Fridge has been a lot of grief this camper has only been used 6 times and out of 6 times the Fridge has worked three times and we have lost a lot of food. I was originally told everything you can think of Check the power check the fuse oh the camper has to be perfectly level and so on and on at this point I give up this fridge is not right it will initially turn on light flickers and you can hear it run and shut off then every five minutes it just keeps doing the same thing over and over. Just last weekend I took the camper out and it ran and you could hear it on with out turning on and off and it acutely cooled but had heavy condensation 2 days later at home it was not working again. Did you buy the camper brand new? If so it should have it's warranty. Warranty work can be done at any dealer, not just the one you purchased it through. I dealt with the dealership, not Furrion.
@Buckle Up Buttercup got it fixed again. Thankfully the fuze didn't break this time woooooo. Btw a 23 and 21 year old yeehaww! Been living in our camper for 2 years now. And with houseing... probably 2 more
Where do you live? "We're sick, so we decided to go camping so the kids can play." Where we live in California, getting a campsite can take MONTHS, usually 6 or more.
We are in Florida, State Parks are the same here, booked solid for 6 months or longer. However we have a Camping Membership to Thousand Trails which offers a large variety of camping options, including last minute trips. We should note, our household had just gotten over a cold bug and we were looking forward to just relaxing away from the house for the weekend in a little bubble around the camper.
Hi I really appreciated your video. My 2020 furrion refrigerator just stopped working a few day's ago. I had just spent $300 on groceries and so everything is in ice chests Its memorial day weekend and all of the mobile techs are saying middle of July to come out. I'm a single girl living in my trailer. The BS i got from the manufacturer was useless. I think my best option is to buy a different refrigerator, mine in a 10 in 12 volt. I dont think I'm up to pulling this fridge out every time the fuse blows. Thanks for any suggestions you have a head of time.
I am so sorry to hear that you are having the same issue. It is a huge inconvenience. You would think they would make the fuse more easily accessible than what it is.
You saved us with this video. I was losing my mind, and I’m sure the rv store would have told us to just buy a new fridge. Who puts a fuse there? We did improve it and rand a line out under the fan and put the fuse there, so that if this fuse goes again we’ll be able to fix it quickly.
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV it did work. I used heat sealed wire crimpers because that wire to the fuse holder was so short. I ran the wire under the fan housing next to the other wire, and pulled it to the front panel. There is a hole in the sheet metal there and I zip tied the wire / fuse holder there. Be careful not to pull the wire out of the tray above the compressor. Thanks again!!
@@m.robinson1178 thanks for info on relocating the fuse. Mine has blown 5 times! I have warranty claim opened with dealer. Did you use a blade fuse when relocating your fuse or the same glass type?
We are also having problems with our furion fridge not getting cold enough, 3 months old , grand design and furion sad 40-50 degrees in the fridge section is too warm, take it in to get checked, closest dealership says 8-12 week wait if they take it in at all, grand design needs to get on this fridge issue quickly and make furion solve these problems or change vendors to a different brand, there are other 12 fridges made for marine applications that will work and have a good history.
Oh wow! I am so sorry to hear about your problem! I know getting into delearships is really difficult, especially with the new camping boom because of covid. Have you tried calling GD? I have heard they have Mobile techs, wonder if they could send one out?
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV I live in Mississippi, don’t know of any mobile techs in our area, but yes I have talked to lazy days in Knoxville where we purchased our RV , and furion also, they both said to take it in and have it checked, that 40 to 50 degrees in the fridge section wasn’t cold enough, our closest dealership said it would be 8-12 weeks out if they even would take it in, they have 127 warranty units waiting to be checked, we are going camping next week, then I will get back on it, we just take an ice chest when we go to keep meats in so they don’t spoil.
We have a 2024 wildwood fsx 290rtkx with a 12v furion fridge. We recently were depending on solar and off grid settings to keep the fridge running while we were gone for a couple days and when we retuned and it was off, I guess the solar couldn’t keep up charging the battery for a weekend. I turned on the 50amp and everything else worked fine except the fridge as light wouldn’t turn on. Does anybody know if Furion fridges in 2024 models still have this fuse problem?
Did you ever pinpoint the blown fuse issue? Could you possibly install a 15 amp (slow blow) fuse verses a fast blow fuse? Also is it possible that you are getting "over current spikes" and blowing the fuse?
Hello. Did you still have power to your fridge? Lights and freezer fan still worked? It just wasn’t cooling? I checked the fuse with the power on and it beeped at me. Shouid I be checking it with the power off. Or does it matter?
Thanks for the info and went through dealership and Grand Design just denied the relocation of fuse. If I do then it voids the warranty. Any other ideas to get them to do the conversion? Ours is a 2021 transcend
We had our rig in service last month to complete the conversion kit. According to my paperwork it was completed, although I haven't taken the fridge out to see for myself. Grand Design recommends the conversion kit, so you would just need your dealer to call them to do it.
I have heard that there is a massive change to warranty and repairs getting considered by congress, somehow prompted by the constantly broken McFlurry and Milkshake machines at McDonalds. The concept is called "Right to Repair". You should not be forced to refuse to repair your own equipment due to manufacturer warranties and equipment lease agreements.
Hi! Did your fridge ever rumble or sound like it was trying to kick on before it fully gave out? That’s what mine is doing and I have the same exact one! I ordered fuses just to be ready. I have noticed the freezer isn’t staying as cold
Just curious what your setup looked like when the fuse blew on you? Were you boon docking or on shore power? Was it extra hot or cold out? Battery full or empty? Just looking for something to look out for. This is awesome information, thanks for sharing. Your helping a lot of people out!
We were hooked up to shore, weather was nice and sunny in 70s, battery was full. It happened between 9pm- 7am. We really are clueless of to what happened. We do have a surge protector too? Wish I could help more with why it happened, but we can't pinpoint it.
To check the battery voltage under load, you need a volt meter connected to the power wires of the fridge AS IT TURNS ON. Your indicator lights or a meter anywhere else are useless for this. The fuse itself is not the issue - excessive current draw is. Lots of people have a voltage drop because the wires are too small, which causes a voltage drop and increased current. The fridge really needs to be wired with 10 awg wire but RV manufacturers are cheap and use smaller than suggested wire. Your wire appears to be too small.
Yes, you will have to go through the dealer. Furrion wouldn't ship them direct to me, which was frustrating, but I guess they want to make sure that it's done right.
I just put a deposit on a 2022 GrandDesign 260RD that we will receive by November it is coming with a Furrion 16 cubic foot 12volt fridge I hope they have fixed these issues. Apparently with the 12v fridge the rv will have a 165w solar panel I am hoping this will produce enough power to keep our batteries charged.
Overall we love the 12v furrion refrigerator. It is massive on the inside and even with a single battery the solar is easily able to keep it powered. If they could just figure out why the glass fuse is burning out. Due to it's massive size you can lose a lot of money in groceries in a hurry. Ours has been in the shop for a couple of weeks now while they figure out how to handle the fuse issue. If they can't figure it out hopefully they can move the fuse to an easier to access location. If so we will have to get some sort of alarm to alert us when the fridge stops working so we know to swap the fuse. A few times it has happened overnight and we have woken up to a mess. I am certain they will figure it out. Again, we absolutely love this set up with the solar and 12v fridge. We will be upset if they call to inform us they need to swap it with something else.
Also, the dealership said that since Furrion has had so many issues with the 12v fridges, that furrion has decided to stop making the fridge. I would buy a set of fuses, because it will likely happen.
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV Thank you and yes I actually already did watch your solar video as well as multiple others. I am planning to have additional solar panels installed on my unit when I receive it. In my current RV I just installed two Rolls 6v AGM batteries that I will most likely put into my new GD as they are way better than the 12v that comes with the unit. I have also spent a little bit of time looking into it the charge control modules for solar panels from what I have researched I believe I want I a MPPT Control module it looks like it does a better job of maintaining the batteries.
These particular fuses are around a half inch, maybe slightly longer. Every store I went to had about 5 to 6 options in this size but when it came to amperage but they were all under 10A. The sad thing is that the longer 1 inch glass fuses are super common in 15A size. I had the new fuse holder and fuses in my hands and made it to a few different registers before having second thoughts about voiding the warranty on a $1,400 refrigerator. It should be such an easy thing to work around.
The fridge fired right back up after replacing the fuse. No idea was caused it to burn out though. Luckily the Amazon pack of fuses comes with 10 so we should be good for a while.
Wow that's terrible that happened. Can't Grand design relocate this or better yet Can't they make a fridge that doesn't even need a fuse with the compressor or are they all.rje same? Maybe we should rethink buying a Transcend. I could never help pull the fridge out because I don't have a good back. That really stinks but I'm glad you shared the video. Also does your counter top and cabinets sit lower? The one we are looking at they do. It doesn't matter to me because I'm short but my husband is tall.lol .Not a deal breaker was just curious if your model does. It's good to hear Grand design is working with you but sorry had to happen. Thank you for great information
We highly recommend Grand Designs and the Transcend line. Krista will be able to provide more info but the refrigerator is made by Furrion. We understand that there is a fix from the factory and existing units can be updated to a bladed fuse like ours was. It was definitely frustrating at first trying to hunt down the fuse locally (which was impossible) and then actually replacing it was a chore. The dealership would have done it but I wanted to do what I could to see if it was a fluke or not. We did eventually have the Camper at the dealership for a change to a bladed fuse under warranty and all is well now. Our counter top is pretty standard to a household counter top. I will have to measure it and compare actual dimensions.
When people are looking for an answer to a problem that's pissing them off, give that info first and do all of the FYI stuff later, I was on the edge of my seat! 🤣 Do you know if Furrion made any fixes to future refrigerators? Say '22 or '23?
Hi, our grand design furrion fridge is not working correctly. So, we're not sure what's going on. The fridge it self is on. The light works, but it's not cold. Everything in the freezer melted. Unfortunately we have no tools. We have watched your video. We checked the panels were all the other fuses are. They seem to be ok. Our travel trailer is new 2021, it's only our 2nd trip out.
We had the same issue it would run and then start unthawing. Our is a 2021 too. We are shutting off for a few days to see if it makes a difference. We are thinking battery gets low. Husband seems to think shouldn't run all the time. I agree Grand Design needs to solve the fridge problem. The fuse was changed.
@@nicholasbaugh1054 we found it was battery. So we get it to the coldest before we leave and it charges on the way and it seems to work so much better. We did buy another battery but haven't had to hook it up yet. We have the solar panel but wasn't enough.
I have gone to several places. Napa, O'reilly, Ace, Lowes, Home Depot, Advanced Auto Parts, Walmart, a couple of area mom and pop type hardware stores and RV dealerships and have not had any luck finding the fuses locally. There were plenty of the right amperage but they were all too big. We ended up ordering from Amazon. We got 10 for around $5 and they arrived in a couple of days. Not good in a pinch but now we have 9 spares.
Did you guys ever alter the fridge to accommodate future fuse replacement? I'm having the same problem! What a terrible design! The fuse should be more accessible.
We have not yet made any modifications ourselves. We made an appointment a while back to have the refrigerator looked at under warranty, unfortunately the camper has been with the dealership for a few weeks as they work with Furrion and Grand Designs. We are hoping to have a resolution soon, at the very least have the fuse relocated to an easier to access location.
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV Mine is a 2021 WolfPup 16BHS. GoodSam directed the warranty claim to Furrion. Furrion advised dealership to replace the fuse as they initially claimed for a new refrigerator. Dealer replaced fuse and fridge works now. It doesn’t negate the fact that it blew easily and is in a horrible location to replace. Dealer recommends a second battery and a larger solar panel than the 50w the coach came with. Says when the voltage drops then the amps go up and that’s what pops the fuse. This happened while on battery power at night at Mammoth Cave as they mandate no generators after 8:00.
Great information, thanks for sharing! Most voltage and amperage talk goes right over my head but I do agree that it has to have something to do with power fluctuations.
We just bought the 2022 model of this trailer are scheduled to pick it up in two weeks. I can not believe they are using these ancient fuses. Do you know if the 22 model is the same?
I am almost 100 percent certain that all new models have been updated and do not require this fuse, they also relocated the fuse to the fuse box with the other fuses.
Our camper is 1 year old with a 2 prong fuse and its a piece of junk too. Every time our campgeound loses power, it screws up our fridge. Last time i pulled the 2 prong fuse out and the fridge kicked back on when i plugged it back. We're fighting it again and it tries to turn on but turns back off 😡 This thing makes us hate our camper so much
I have a ‘21 Jayco Whitehawk with this same fridge and it’s fuse is blown. I share your frustration at the stupidity of this design by Furrion.. this must also be a design flaw in the fuse they put in it to be failing repeatedly like this, so annoying!
Never do this! If there is an electrical problem causing the fuse to blow such as a short circuit, you can generate a fire very quickly. The engineers didn't put that fuse there for looks. (retired electrical engineer).
Let’s make it as hard as possible to change the fuse. What brilliant engineer design this in the RV industry.
It is definitely a design flaw for sure!
My fridge stopped working and I watched you’re video. I removed that panel and found the ground wire rubbed into the red wire and it popped the fuse. I went to the hardware store got the same fuse and a new inline fuse holder. Fired up. I can’t thank you enough!!!! It worked!
So glad it all worked out for you!
Here's an idea our tech at our dealership did for our 2021 Grand design Transcend when the fuse went out in our refrigerator. He eliminated the fuse in the refrigerator all together. The refrigerator runs through the campers fuse panel anyway. Makes sense to me.
That’s ideal!
Exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks for posting this. Thankfully, I have access to the back of the fridge without removing it.
Well, the fuse fuss got us this week. Lots of ruined food! Gonna ditch the furrion for a Dometic. Thanks for the info. I appreciate your time!
So sorry
Same issue on ours. We just arrived in Florida from cold Ohio and didn't realize it wasn't working. Removed the fridge then the fuse and wrapped it in foil and reinstalled. Works great! I'll wire the fridge to use the converter's fuse panel, as it should have been done in the first place, when we get back.
God bless you!!!
So I bought new batteries… nope…
pulled out the fridge.. found the fuse with the one inch of wire to work with.. it seemed in tact..
I cried…
I Cussed..
my husband with only one arm from shoulder replacement tried so hard to help me in over 100 degree weather!
I hope it all works out!
So I pushed and pulled, replaced the fuse… pushed in more wiring connections and suddenly the fan turned on!! It’s working now. What a piece of work. I appreciate you guys..
@@dig2dye I’m glad that you got it going!
The fridge keeps popping them 🤯
we just bought camper with this fridge. light is on. fridge not cooling. help!
@@NeetarNeet same here! Exact same problem. Have you figured it out???
Thank you so much. Our fridge went out today a day before our first trip thanks to you we were able to fix it and relocate the fuse
Glad you got it fixed!
We’ve left stuff behind before and it was when we always needed it most! Sorry that happened when you needed to rest. Great video!
It always seems to work out that way 😊Thank you, thankfully we finally found some fuses, so let's hope this doesn't happen again. Thanks for watching!
Thank you.
The fuse they use is pretty common at a boat dealer. This type of fuse is used a lot for fishfinders
Thanks for the great video. Our second time out and it broke at the campgrounds but I ran to parts store and converted it to spade fuse. Now it’s working great !
Great to hear it worked out
Thank you so much for this video and the relocation information. You literally saved us hundreds of dollars!
You are welcome, I am glad it helped!
Furrion must have heard you because my 2023 has the blade fuse up front. Only catch is now they used a square bit screw. Sort of like a deck screw to hold the bottom vent on.
Good to know!
We just had the exact same issue on a camping trip (fun surprise). I’ll be trying to replace the fuse but wanted to check in to see what you ended up doing with the replacement. Thanks for posting, saves us time and money!
We did take it in for the conversion kit
Terrific video!!! Thank you
Thank for all that do for us!😃 love you guys!
Same fridge in our Jayco. Thanks for showing us where the fuse is. Luckily we have an access panel from the outside so it should be easier for us to get to the fuse to test. Still…What a pain in the butt!
That is very cool that you at least have an access panel, because it is a pain to pull out!
Contacted GD, they said they have no idea about this and referred me to Furrion. Furrion says they know about it but it's absolutely out of warranty. They were kind enough to email me the instructions on how to do it myself
Do you know if this would be the same for a cannon 12v fridge?
My rv fridge just decided to give up too, and I live In mine. Thank you!
Hope you get it fixed quickly
Since having our dealer swap the glass fuse for a bladed fuse under warranty and from Furrion we have not had any trouble.
Yeah, that fuse location is brutal! Thank you for sharing. Now I hope I never need to follow along!
We hope so too! Happy travels!
Hey Everyone! FYI it does not matter the Make, Model, Year of your coach. Furrion could be just one of Many Brands in an RV......... Peace! 😬✌
TIA
Criticism comes with it, but that’s ok :) thanks for the support. We never had an issues with the decals.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. It is much appreciated.
You're welcomed, hopefully it helps if it happens to you... But hopefully that won't happen! Thanks for watching!
So sorry to hear that!
I just bought an Imagine 17MKE and came home from work to melted ice cream and thawing everything after just buying groceries. To boot the hot water is not giving good pressure in the shower. She going back to the dealer Saturday for a fix.
I got an appointments for my Grand Design for Service to look at my Refrigerator, Is there any thing else I should have them look at? Thanks Debbie 😊
Yay! Not that I can think of
You guys! Thank you😀
😀

Thanks guys… what a pain in the ass… had this happen with mine
Oh wow! Ultimately it is an easy fix but very unnecessary. Ours has been running strong since the dealer installed the conversion
Great video. You guys end up finding a way to fix this? I have a 2022 240 ML and I’m starting to notice the freezer is it working right and I am only had my trailer for a bout 4 months also I may issue I’m having is leakage issues.
We took it in to get the conversion kit installed, so far everything has been working great!
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV got it, thank you. I’m going to give them a call today and ask, the fridge is working fine but the freezer top rack for reason isn’t freezing enough.
@@jrchavez6167 I hope it all gets fixed quickly for you!
I use shims used for hanging doors between the top of the fridge and bottom of the freezer door.
And I believe you need to go to the next gage if you go over 20 feet
Hi, we're you able to relocate the fuse on the refrigerator. Thank you
I never did, ended up upgrading campers :)
Thanks for this video! Is great
You’re welcome!
Question ... ours is working on shore power, but refuses to cool on battery! I’m thinking the fuse has a short ... anything similar to you??

Just did it again 1 year later 😅 woooo time to do it again!
Oh no!

I had just spent $300 on groceries and so everything is in ice chests
Its memorial day weekend and all of the mobile techs are saying middle of July to come out.
Can you access that from the outside, I just had to change mine made life easier
A lot of people do run a line to make it easier to get to.
I know it’s not that heavy, but it’s in a very tight space to work in. Furrion definitely needs to put the fuse in a better location.
You saved us with this video. I was losing my mind, and I’m sure the rv store would have told us to just buy a new fridge. Who puts a fuse there?
We did improve it and rand a line out under the fan and put the fuse there, so that if this fuse goes again we’ll be able to fix it quickly.
Let me know how that works, we thought about doing that as well.

Oh wow! I hope they can somehow get you in sooner. It is such a huge inconvenience :(
We have the same fridge. Never used the camper but the fridge light turns on but will not cool.
That’s likely not the fuse
We have a 2024 wildwood fsx 290rtkx with a 12v furion fridge. We recently were depending on solar and off grid settings to keep the fridge running while we were gone for a couple days and when we retuned and it was off, I guess the solar couldn’t keep up charging the battery for a weekend. I turned on the 50amp and everything else worked fine except the fridge as light wouldn’t turn on. Does anybody know if Furion fridges in 2024 models still have this fuse problem?
Try getting a lithium ion battery for consistent voltage. I suspect your battery gets low voltage forcing the current to spike and blowing the fuse.
Did you ever pinpoint the blown fuse issue? Could you possibly install a 15 amp (slow blow) fuse verses a fast blow fuse? Also is it possible that you are getting "over current spikes" and blowing the fuse?
Have they fix this problem with the new 2023 models trailers
Yes!
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV what did they do to fix it on the new model?

I checked the fuse with the power on and it beeped at me. Shouid I be checking it with the power off. Or does it matter?
Nothing worked.
Just wrap it in tin foil (or a gum wrapper) like my dad used to do in his cars 🤣
These type of glass fuze are common in South East Asia
Lucky!
Will Grand Design pay for this! Conversion?
If it's under warranty.
What is amp on that fuse
What size fuse is it?
amzn.to/3bLyz8Z
Does the light still work in fridge if the fuse is bad?
No, the light will not work.
Hi! Did your fridge ever rumble or sound like it was trying to kick on before it fully gave out? That’s what mine is doing and I have the same exact one! I ordered fuses just to be ready. I have noticed the freezer isn’t staying as cold
I never noticed anything like that.
I found a fuse pack at Lowe’s and it had the fuse in it. FURRION company needs help with common sense!!!!
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV thanks for the info.
So did your freezer go out as well or just the fridge portion ?
Both the Freezer and Refrigerator go out when this glass fuse goes bad.
Hi, my freezer is cold but the refrigerator is warm. Would it be the fuse as well?
No, nothing would work if it’s the fuse :(
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV thank you!
How do you get conversion kit and what is it? Only through a dealer?
You may also find out solar power video helpful too since you got your GD with solar
th-cam.com/video/yeIlNfi_TFg/w-d-xo.html
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV Thank you and yes I actually already did watch your solar video as well as multiple others. I am planning to have additional solar panels installed on my unit when I receive it. In my current RV I just installed two Rolls 6v AGM batteries that I will most likely put into my new GD as they are way better than the 12v that comes with the unit. I have also spent a little bit of time looking into it the charge control modules for solar panels from what I have researched I believe I want I a MPPT Control module it looks like it does a better job of maintaining the batteries.
Awesome! It looks like you have done your homework and know exactly what to do! I hope you enjoy your rig. We really enjoy our Grand Design!
Update? Any info on where they moved it to, if at all or what exactly they did?

@@BuckleUpButtercupTV 😊 Thanks. Appreciate the updates! Keep up the good work.
I hope you enjoy it!
My GD Imagine was not even 2 weeks old and the fridge quit working. The light works but no cooling. Is this what happens? I am so frustrated!
The light wouldn’t work if it was the fuse.
Is this in the newer 2022 models?
I think the fuse may have been updated for the 22s but I’m not totally sure
I have fuses like that when I see them I usually think about tossing them. Then I keep them .
Not sure why they are so hard to find now?
Harbor Freight sells 60 of them for $7.99
Have you tried em and do they work? They are a little longer
When people are looking for an answer to a problem that's pissing them off, give that info first and do all of the FYI stuff later, I was on the edge of my seat! 🤣
Do you know if Furrion made any fixes to future refrigerators? Say '22 or '23?
👍
Hi, our grand design furrion fridge is not working correctly. So, we're not sure what's going on. The fridge it self is on. The light works, but it's not cold. Everything in the freezer melted. Unfortunately we have no tools. We have watched your video. We checked the panels were all the other fuses are. They seem to be ok. Our travel trailer is new 2021, it's only our 2nd trip out.
How is your battery level?
We had the same issue it would run and then start unthawing. Our is a 2021 too. We are shutting off for a few days to see if it makes a difference. We are thinking battery gets low. Husband seems to think shouldn't run all the time. I agree Grand Design needs to solve the fridge problem. The fuse was changed.
@@brendaleclair4374 any update on what the issue was?
@@nicholasbaugh1054 we found it was battery. So we get it to the coldest before we leave and it charges on the way and it seems to work so much better. We did buy another battery but haven't had to hook it up yet. We have the solar panel but wasn't enough.
Plus we had to change the fuse
any auto parts store or even WalMart should have that fuse
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV thanks for the response. That’s great. I will verify when we do our orientation.
Our camper is 1 year old with a 2 prong fuse and its a piece of junk too. Every time our campgeound loses power, it screws up our fridge. Last time i pulled the 2 prong fuse out and the fridge kicked back on when i plugged it back. We're fighting it again and it tries to turn on but turns back off 😡 This thing makes us hate our camper so much
What size is the fuse

I have a ‘21 Jayco Whitehawk with this same fridge and it’s fuse is blown. I share your frustration at the stupidity of this design by Furrion.. this must also be a design flaw in the fuse they put in it to be failing repeatedly like this, so annoying!
I agree, it is so annoying!
Yuuuuup. That was it. What a joke. Did y’all get the “fix” installed? Did it move the fuse location at all?
Yes we had the dealer do the fix but it didn’t relocate it
If you are in a pinch, you can wrap fuse with aluminum foil until new fuse arrives.
This trick is used everyday by professionals😁
Now this is interesting! I will have to do this!!
@@BuckleUpButtercupTV it works, but caution that if you have a real problem you're not really protected...
Never do this! If there is an electrical problem causing the fuse to blow such as a short circuit, you can generate a fire very quickly. The engineers didn't put that fuse there for looks. (retired electrical engineer).
