Simple and excellent. I didn't see anyone explain like this. really excellent.
Best channel in fluids simple and effective
how can I found three standared point in first graph when i want to define the pumpe at watercad programes
The best explanation I have seen .. of BEP
Can we shift efficiency to x - Axis and Q to y-axis the graph will be still same right ?
Sir, what is the difference between differential Head & Total Head??
Give an example of parallel operations?!
Well, how to draw pump characteristic curves? Can anyone give me any reference?
When is it more beneficial to use a pumps in series vs. pumps in parallel?
When you need to overcome a large head, or have major head loss.
Can i ask?
immensely helpful
Are those above given curves valid only for particular diameter of impellar only?
yes, a different diameter of impellar will change pressure to flow ratio
Great video, but isn't it important to note that the pump will operate at the point where the pump curve intersects the system curve? Your video implies the pump will operate at the most efficient point. You really need to determine the discharge head your pump is operating against, and find the most efficient pump impeller to use. Again, great video!
please can some one can guide me i want to do research of already installed pumps and want to take these curves what test we have to perform what are the procedure for that testing ... and want to find extra energy which i am wasting.. my supervisor give me the topic i have no idea for testing procedure if you know please guide me .. shoaibahmeduet@gmail.com just send me the procedure in pdf or any source thanks
neatly explained. Thanks.
Thanks so much
What equation can I use to plot the efficiency curve?
Danielly Bezerra see fluid mechanics written by Yunus A Cengel

@@nrz_rzk i have found that book and started reading relavent topic thanks ..
Pardon me sir, it is brake horse power, not break horse power.
So what makes the pump less efficient after peak efficiency?
More discharge flow rate/Capacity
You mean if i have pump and want to move water
Its not good to have zero pressure
Give it valve and make back pressure a little bit until peak efficiency point
Back pressure is good at some point
Zero pressure is not efficient
What will happen if two dissimilar pumps are connected in series and parallel
Is it possible?
Well, I got it. Arranging dissimilar pump in series/parallel may lead problems (especially when the other pump are larger). Risky
due to insufficient volume of water feeding into other pumps it will lead to cavitation
Why head max at zero discharge
A centrifugal pump is only capable of producing a certain amount of discharge pressure (Head) based on its design. If the pressure (head) the pump is pumping against is equal to its maximum discharge head, there will be no flow. As the head the pump is pumping against lowers, flow will increase as shown on the Head (green) curve in this example. Thanks for the question. Hope this helps.
Increasing the flow means increasing the kinetic head.Kinetic head increment causes the discharge head to decrease because pressure energy is converted to kinetic energy and vise versa. I believe these curves are plotted for constant speed pumps with flow adjustment using a control valve. We may need to look at variable speed pumps which are, from my perspective, more efficient and have different pumping characteristics.
Its called shut off head
It's brake hp not break hp, my bro
Goodjob bosku
Ha ha! Not a good advert for a college if they don't even know the difference between break and brake!
