In the 1920's the entire CC was double tracked from Decoursey to Corbin. The second track was eliminated in areas after CTC was installed on the line. The depot in Paris now hosts a great restaurant. About 30 miles east of Richmond is the home of the Kentucky Steam Heritage Corp and 2716. Look for an open house in June.
Thanks for the info Joel. I do appreciate it. I've wanted to eat at the Trackside restaurant, but am always in a rush when I'm in Paris. I'll have to try and stop down for the KY Steam Heritage open house.
Drayton . I grew up in Maysville and Paris Ky. both I am very familiar with both railroads . Being a former member of the Kentucky Central Railway , also know folks employed at both railroads . I have traveled on Csx from Patio yard to Cynthiana, and From Paris to Maysville by rail
I've done some research on TTI and from what I found mainly on Facebook it was closed by it's parent company CSXT (CSX Transportation) was closed in 2019 due to a bad washout on the track near Maysville, Kentucky at the other end of the line along with the Power Plant it served at Maysville Closed with the TTI having no purpose or reason to stay operational. I did some more research in 2020 and found from one of my friends in my home town that he said there were some Investors looking at Buying the TTI off CSX but so far I've heard nothing else on that. As for the Engine Fleet of the TTI mainly B36-7s and a single U28B are in storage with exception of TTI 260 an GE U28B which was donated by CSX to the Illinois Railroad Museum of Union, Illinois. All of the Dash 7s including TTI 5812 along with 5808 still sporting CSX's YN1 and YN2 Paint Schemes are in storage at Paris, Kentucky as of January, 2020. I'll update this comment if more information is found. Have a great day- L&N Productions :-)
@@nkyrailfan I grew up in Latonia and used to enjoy railfanning the CC sub. I don’t get to do it as much anymore so I enjoy seeing you videos covering it and other lines in NKY and Cincinnati.
Brings back memories. It has been 40 years since I was at Lambs Ferry. Back then it was LN gray with some FL paint. This location was usually about the furthest south we would go on a Cincy area trip. We could easily burn a 36 roll of Kodachrome in 1 day in Cincy.
TTI closed the line to Maysville due to roadbed/tunnel issues/slippage a couple of years ago. They have sold 2 of their GE locos to the CET in the eastern part of Cincinnati.
@@nkyrailfan Please do! Your absolutely the best! Once you start producing more & more often, I'm going to share your channel with my railfan friends across the nation!
Do you use software-defined radio for the train traffic audio in your videos? Just wondering if it's the best way to capture the audio? It seems really clear. I've never used SDR before just looking into it.
I use a very basic scanner. It's a Uniden BC75XLT. As long as I'm close to the tracks and there isn't too much terrain in the way, it does a decent job picking up signals. I think the antenna and height of the radio makes the most significant difference in quality. Some days it seems to pick up everything, others I have had trains go by and not heard a thing. Sorry that's not much help. I just haven't figured it out either.
It could be playing a role in it because I have been told it's because of drainage issues with the number 1 tunnel. A big crack could allow a lot of water into the tunnel making it more difficult to keep the area dry.

Paris depot looks great!
It really is in great shape.
I can't wait to go back when it's warm.
Great Video

Thanks for the great info!
Hopefully, someone comes in and restores the line.
It looks like it would be a pretty fun line to chase a train on.
Excellent video!
Thank you very much, it makes me happy people enjoy these videos.

Another great video! Where have you been? Imho, you produce the best train vids on the net. Please create more, and more often!!
Thank you so much!!! I really do appreciate it.
I'm hoping to get back into my weekly upload routine once it warms up a bit.

Q541 may have had work to do at Patio.

3:24 Is that crack on the tunnel why trains have always been using the other tunnel?

Dayton now has Q317
Just so you know, I haven't forgotten about checking out that spot in Bellevue/Dayton.
I've been a few times, but nothing ever came while I was there.
@@nkyrailfan You'll see a train there eventually, if you just keep on trying
3:07 now you can say track 1 is used on a daily basis now
It is nice the CC sub looks to be getting more traffic routed on it.
Hopefully, it continues. CSX looks to be putting quite a lot of money into it.
@@nkyrailfan The traffic is still garbage, only 2 daily trains a day
Tank car, not tanker. At least according to the AAR.
I am sure you are correct.
That's what I grew up calling them as little kid, and I guess it just stuck.
