@Ellie Trost not always true, I got hit with a ball in the middle of my leg between my knee and foot and left a HUGE Bruise. U could even see the Imprints from the grips on my leg. It's been about 2 or 3 weeks and u can't see it now but the bruise is kinda still there. It was a 12 inch ball btw

You don't make the team on guys baseball if you can't catch. Probably the first thing you should know playing competitive sports, and before you get into it. Not knowing things like that only hurt the team. I wasn't the best when I started out at 11 years old, but I could catch and swing decently. One year later I was an all-star and every year after until I was 17.
Yeah but what if the ball is really fast and soars over your head? I feel like I can't see them and they always hit the top of my glove. Not a fly ball, but a bad pass.

I know this is an old comment, but if you haven't realized yet, it's really good for you to watch softball videos, even if you already know how to do it.
there doing this wrong you have to bend down holding up your body with your tippy toes put the arm your not catching with behind your back and put the arm your catching with in fornt of your chest

How do you hold your glove to catch balls aimed at your face, like a line drive? To 12 or 9 o'clock? Is it useful to take a side step first?

When you catch it you're supposed to be behind the ball, even if it's to your left or right

FR! i was using both hands once and the ball hit my bare hand instead of the glove. my hand was numb for 2 hours after that
