Wow @american_dane that's a serious barn door! I bet she was going crazy when the "snag" started pulling the boat around! Thanks for stopping by and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
@@CaptainZac she was 6mo pregnant with my little brother. Caught it in a 15’ tinny. They ended up shooting it after the got my mom to shore to keep her safe. Let’s just say she has never let that rest as she wanted to be a part of the entire fight. We ate that beast for what seemed like 2 years. Love the channel bro keep up the solid work. I caught my biggest to date this year in Sitka self guided #150. Big fish run in the family
@american_dane that's insane! Sounds like an epic battle - I'm glad everyone ended up safe and the freezer was completely filled (probably with plenty left over for friends and family!). Congrats on your barn door over in Sitka, especially self-guided! Thanks for the positive feedback and I'm glad you are enjoying the channel! Captain Zac
Well done! The 80 pounder is the size of my biggest this year…and this lifetime! So exciting to have a fish of that size come to the surface. Thanks for sharing!

@@CaptainZac Hope you get a Beast! Had shoulder surgery so fishing was out this year. The way my rifle is set up with a bipod, able to hunt my pastures off the ground. Went to hunt one area, busted 6-7 Doe before I could cop a squat? Thought Nature's trying to tell me something? Moved down cpl hundred yds, didn't take long, popped a real nice 8 trailing a doe. I was done, got up and headed for the FE loader. Walking across the pasture heading back, cpl doe are out in the open at the far end and out walks a wide & tall 10! Didn't want but 1, but couldn't pass up that one. Went down on one knee and fill both Buck tags in 20 min. It's better to be lucky than good! Hope you have as much luck with better success! Enjoy your trip home and eat up all the good groceries you can hold! I'll be thinking about you next week and praying you tag a Monster! Be safe!
Wow that's a crazy hunting experience - congrats! I ended up having a great time in the PA deer stand. I tagged a nice buck and also saw 5 black bears! I brought the venison back up here to Alaska and now have surf and turf! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hey @clamsoup this is awesome - I couldn't have said it any better myself! The snag becomes a brag! haha that's fantastic! Thanks for stopping by and tight lines my friend - summertime will be here before you know it! Captain Zac
Thanks @brianowen4837 I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut action! Alaska is definitely filled with adventures to make any outdoorsy dream come true! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Now that's some nice halibut action and not one rock.. That's what around 50 pounds of filet off that 80 pounder? When was your last big one like that??
Thanks @jimmieburleigh9549 I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut action! Halibut have around a 40-50% yield depending on how aggressively you trim the fillets. So this fish probably yielded 30-35lb pounds or so since I trim and skin all of the fillets prior to vac sealing. Mary and I actually caught a few nice big ones just a week or two later - video footage to come! The short I published today is a nice 50 pounder. Thanks again and tight lines! Captain Zac
One of the reasons I'm commenting so much. It's because i'm.I'm coming up there next april to go fishing. I'd like to know. Is there any? Way You could slow down when you're cleaning your halibut, and your other fish, so we can see your technique, nothing personal, but I notice you waste a lot of meat. You don't take the caller????????
Hi @fredbrown8894 thanks for stopping by and I'm glad this halibut footage is getting you primed for your upcoming trip to Juneau! Thanks for the suggestion of a slower "how to" video of filleting halibut. In the meantime, you might try slowing down the playback speed.
