Yup, that Pointblank is horrendous. I only picked him up when Hasbro Pulse had a sale recently but he's staying in car mode which is where he looks best. The bad part is that Hasbro probably won't release a better version for a long time. This is why I miss 3rd party companies doing CHUG scale figures. The MP version by Maketoys is pretty awesome.
Fantastic review TF Collector!! I think its incredible to finally have the trio of Decepticon double Targetmasters with Needlenose's release. :D Keep on being amazing.
31:11 thanks to leaked listings we now know that a new quake figure will be released as part of wave 4 next year. I can’t wait to finally complete this trio. (I know this news is a few months old, but I still wanted to make this comment anyway).
I say main reason to get Pointblank is the fact that his last toy came out in the 80s. So if you need him, the Legacy ver is probably your cheapest option.
As I've said before, I missed out on G1 by a ways, but I have a strange fondness for Needlenose because my grandmother still had my uncles' copies of him, so I was really looking forward to this release, especially since targetmasters are my favorite gimmick, tied with minicons, but these two disappoint me. Either way, though, I am still excited to pick up Needlenose; you're right that G1 with knees is all you need for a lot of these figures. Hopefully, in the future, partners to the larger bots can be done with justice again. Between all the Armada figures we've seen so far, though, and now Needlenose and Pointblank, I have doubts. Great review, though, love to hear your opinions and see the comparisons when possible.
I think the only way we'll get good Targetmaster partners is to bring back the Battle Master price point, which is very unlikely. It's especially unlikely that they'd get unique molds where appropriate.
@@TFCollector I fully agree with everything you just said. In the current era it feels like there's no winning for them. Hopefully someone can work some magic behind the scenes again and they might be able to test separate releases again, even with limited molds I still preferred it to what's happening now.
Perhaps if they made them smaller than Battle Masters and sold them as a two pack, kinda like the Micromasters. There might be enough perceived value there to get people to buy them. I th8nk part of what caused the Battle Masters to fail is that nobody wanted to pay $7 for a tiny guy that turns into a weapon.
Sorry .. I'm going to be annoying guy but the jet combination was debunked. Having said that..I don't have the figure ..I'm waiting on it..but I love what they did with it. It reminds me of the excellent design they did with Spinister.
Actually takara had the best target masters in legends line as they had the best articulation & I wish Habro would of used those for the battle masters
I agree that POINTBLANK is a huge letdown. But there is an upgrade kit by Nonnef that takes him to his next level. Now I know you’re not too keen on third party and upgrades, but I would not deny myself enjoying the full potential of this Transformer or any others made by HASBRO. Because honestly, they are never going to put their all into everything they do, plus they’re charging us ridiculous prices. In my opinion it’s worth spending a lil extra to make the figure as best as it can be especially if there’s the option to do so, even if it’s unofficial 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
@@TFCollector I totally understand that, bro. But once you do that, it will open up a whole new world with your figures. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
There’s also a second upgrade that provides covers for the backs of the legs and gap fillers for the thighs. I can’t remember who made it but I ordered it from TFSAFARI. Some upgrades are purely for aesthetics but in Pointblanks case, it’s definitely an upgrade.
"He's got some really hollow forearms. Which is a shame because there's no reason they need to...just cost cutting I guess..." He also has hollow thighs, calves and feet. Needlenose represents all that's wrong with TF's of the last 2 years. They feel hollow and cheap. Legacy feels MUCH cheaper than WFC figures. Thinner plastic and hollowbots all around. But at least they are much more expensive.
I wouldn't say he represents everything wrong with modern TFs. Aside from the hollow bits, he's a really good figure. Lots of articulation, good tolerances, and a faithful design in both modes.
These figures are designed as updates to G1 characters. They're marketed to adult collectors to capitalize on G1 nostalgia. It's kind of hard to avoid the topic when analyzing them.

I love that your reviews are back. I'm glad you were able to take a break, but super pumped you are back doing them
I just hope I can keep it up this year. Been working more than ever lately.

Sadly, that's maybe the only reason to get him. The new toy doesn't improve on the original as much as most Generations figures these days.

'Long-awaited' indeed, my bro. Great stuff!
Glad to have you back! I’m gonna wait until this guy goes on sale. Lol
But, he's so good! 🥺
@@TFCollector sure, but I’m not paying almost $30 for this guy lol
Bye-bye hiatus!
Great 'double review', bro!
"Nothing like a good old TF Collector review to set your mind at ease."
(In Jake Sully's tone, Avatar 1)
To include artfire then you could also include the generations selects cyclonus too lol
Aw man! I forgot about him too! 😖
Love this guy! Love his articulation and look
If the Tarn review is coming up can you have a shot with Tarn, Jhiaxus and Cyclonus all together?
I think that would be a good comparison to do.
Disappointed in the Target Masters. Might just find some of the Battle Masters and give them a paint job.

I agree with you there, I just don't own any to compare the new ones to.
@@TFCollector I was lucky to get 4 or 5 of them when I got back in to collecting TF

@@ericgorman9942 yessir. Both those kits turn that figure into a mini masterpiece in my opinion.
For a character named Needlenose
He doesn't have a nose 👃
Good one lol
I never thought about that before! 🤯

This review was too long for a Deluxe figure and is all over the place.
T'is my style. 🤷♂️
Could you please stop mentioning Generation One; because that's done and over?!
