It's a beautiful bag, and it's also well made. The problem is that the size is not compliant for carry-ons. And definitely not for international travel. This is what I used to call "slightly illegal" during my road warrior travels. Suitcase Case Dimensions: 21 in x 14 in x 9 in, Overall Dimensions ( includes wheels & carry handles): 23.5 in x 14.5 in x 9 in, Weight: 7.8 lbs, Volume: 46 L. The standard domestic carry-on luggage size for most domestic airlines is 22" x 14" x 9". Southwest airlines is 24” x 16” x 10”.
My current carry-on bag is Briggs and Riley ZDX. It's lightweight, well built, and size compliant. The B&R Baseline rollaboard spinner is even nicer, and also size compliant, but with a higher price tag.

I just flew Delta, but i have the rollerboard version of this bag, IDK if that matters....but it fit in the overhead just fine, and it was expanded too....

Not fitted for low-cost Airlines in Europe.
The bag supplement will cost as a new bag

      The Platinum Elite Slim Carry-On Expandable Softside Spinner: 55 x 40 x 20 cm | 21.75 x 15.75 x 7.75 inches should be compliant with international airlines

I got this and the 26” checked bag in 2019. I got the Nomad Lane Bento Bag for my personal item. The best trio of bags. We travel 3-4 times per year. Invest once (find sales, rebates etc) and be solid for years.

I just did 8 days in Ireland with the Travelpro Versacrew 22" carryon. I also used my Travelpro Crew4 underseat bag. I use compression packing bags. Packed all the clothes that I needed. Wheels are next level. Handel placements are well thought out. My wife uses a clamshell type case, which has its own benefits. If you aren't a clamshell person, you won't be sorry with a Travelpro! The Versacrew is the same luggage, without the leather trim, but cheaper! Insignificant differences. I got mine on sale in the $180+ range.

Finally pulled the trigger on this bag and the elite backpack after realizing my old system was physically uncomfortable to wheel for more than 100 yards. I should have done this years ago. I’m impressed with the quality and design. Thanks for a great video!

I'm here looking to finally replace my 25 year old TravelPro Platinum-2 bags. Business traveler with over 800k miles (basis my FF programs) on these boys. Either buy new ones and upgrade or replace the wheels, which are the only thing wrong. Trying to decide. Noticed all the flight crews with these back in the day.

Hello, I am coming to this late, but I really need help figuring out which TravelPro carry-on luggage to buy for two upcoming international trips. Right now I’m looking at The Travelpro platinum elite carry-on spinner versus the Crew classic compact carry-on expandable spinner versus the Crew Versapack Global carry-on spinner. I get concerned about that 1 inch and half inch extra size that goes over the 22 x 14 x 9 international requirement on the Platinum Elite, which has the most positive reviews (Exterior measurement clocks in at 23"). I know the Platinum Elite reviews say that it seems to work on international flights, but who wants to stress at the gate once there. I also want to know about the inside dimensions since I do pack a lot but I want to make this work for my 12 days. What to do! Which one of these three! I’d love to know more about something that works internationally. Thank you.

Most TH-camrs do not respond to new comments on old videos.
You did not provide enough detail about the trips. Many people have connecting flights on smaller planes. These could be in the U.S. or at the destinations. The larger bag may not fit on small planes. There may be a difference in available overhead space if you fly first class (on a smaller plane) vs. the economy.
If you will be travelling to many countries in the future, get the smaller bag. If you only fly on large airplanes, the larger bags will give you more packable space. But keep in mind that some airlines (like Lufthansa) have strict limits on the weight of the carry-on luggage. If you have a check-in luggage with you, you can move some things to the larger bag/case. If not, you will be forced to check in the carry-on bag. A luggage fee may apply depending on how cheap your arline ticket is.

@@michaels3003 Excellent advice with a thoughtful response considering many scenarios. You’ve given me more to think about as I contemplate this. Regarding new comments to old videos, there should be no shelf life or time frame for questions posed if the person making the video keeps it up for viewing, unless the products are dated or change. I have asked questions on “old” DIY and design videos and the creators thought enough to respond. I’m glad you did and it really doesn’t have to be from the individual who made the video. You gave me a ton of solid information to move forward. So, thank you.

@@dailyequanimity , you are welcome. Thank you for the nice comment.
I see many new comments that go unanswered. YT provides information to the creators when new comments are added. Some people are very busy; others do not care.

You may have to go with the 'international' luggage. TravelPro does have some specifically labeled as such. I believe instead of a 22/21" they are 20". Best to check the airline brand you'll be flying for specifics though, but from my research and reading others comments, the US carryon size is too big for international flights.

    • @IanCredibleChannel
      @IanCredibleChannel  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

So here’s my take. I don’t have experience with the other bags you mentioned but if it were me, I would probably go with the platinum elite. You might not be able to carry it on if someone is being stingy, however, I feel like you will be fine more often than not. Gate checking isn’t the end of the world. Again just my personal opinion. If you don’t want to roll the dice, just go with the actual 22x14x9 requirements.

You say “I won’t bother you with the outside dimensions of the bag”! Really? One of the most important features of a CARRY ON bag is outside dimensions! Does it meet airline standards for a carry on. Especially in Europe where some airlines have smaller dimensions limits.
Four wheel bags use up a lot of space for the wheels, resulting in less space in the bag.

Great point. I should have just mentioned it. It’s easily found on their site here under features and dimensions. Hope it helps. travelpro.com/collections/carry-on-luggage/products/platinum®-elite-21-expandable-carry-on-spinner?variant=19629281706082

That is not carryon compliance on most part of the world, and risking airlines ask you to check it in at huge cost.

Wished the airlines would ban roll on carry-ons. 3 times my carry-on has been gate check because of POS roll on carry-on and its dam wheels taking up room in overhead setting side ways. I just walked off and told this passage to go pound sand and I was in business class.
