I loved watching this movie in my childhood... I still love watching it but as we have come of age we realised that there were a lot of problematic aspects in this movie like suit saree pehnti hai toh ladki wife material hai and agar short tomboy cut hai toh friend material, such a concept does not age well.. but for the late 90s kids, despite various problematic aspects, it remains an emotion... everyone in this movie, SRK, Kajol, Salman, Rani..., acted too good.
At 1:25, 1:42 and 1:49 that reaction from SRK were too cute😅👏🏻

Yaar still in all Indian serials, film they relate all the good pious character with eastern dressings and dressing of all evil, secondary roles in western characters. In similar ways,often they also portray city's characters as very evil while the characters from village given badges of love and innocence.
Characters from village usually have unawareness, ignorance but evilness and goodness are totally different traits of characters.
Please watch the movie again. Nowhere does Rahul indicate that he falls for Tina (or Anjali later on) because she dresses a certain way. He falls for both women’s character, not appearance. Even Karan Johar was surprised when Shabana Azmi brought this particular criticism to him. He never expected that would be a takeaway from this movie.
Your judgement is not acceptable in my manner. Anjali (Kajol) didn't know the proper fashion sense or she didn't feel any girlish nature ,bt as well as growing up she changed herself naturally( mentally and physically) ,so later, her appearance touched Rahul.Similarly Tina was too beautiful and fashionable as well as smart ,she's enough capable of attracting boys like Rahul. So this movie is a proper justice to human aspect. Not in morality,but it's real life example of choosing someone for lifetime. Pyar roop,soorat dekh kr hi hota hai ,jitna bhi dil ki baat krlo
