i played this game as a child, later i heard that song and i thought this sounded like this level theme ca. 15 years later: *finds out it’s inspired by the song*
GYA-HA-HA! (flings crate) GYA-HA-HA! (flings another crate) GYA-HA-HA! (flings a Zinger) (unfortunately, Diddy and Dixie were too busy dodging the Zinger to notice him move back halfway across the level and throw a Bonus Barrel...)
Well to be fair, it IS a popular game. It's not like Aro on DOS where it feels like you made that whole thing up, but then all these years later you find out that it's actually real.
Lmao I always thought the same. Took me YEARS to see the rotating circular arrow, when I was little I thought the G was for "GIRAR", which means "spinning" in my native language.
These restorations are incredible! These games and their soundtracks, plus others, take me back to a simpler time. A time where the weight of the oncoming days, questioning the existence of self (and everything else), the pressure of reality kicking the door down (or politely knocking), and the keeping of one’s sanity didn’t enter the good ol’ brain. All there was is a Super Nintendo , hammering away an hour before school( then waiting to get out and finish the level that was left on pause all day because the save barrel wasn’t reached), the skill in your fingers, your memory, and disappearing into a world that was awesome but wholly beautiful because of the feeling it gives you when you’re returned to it twenty to thirty years later. That powerful nostalgia; the most reliable time machine is an awesome game, it’s soundtrack, and the joy it brings home. Well… it depends on person to person ;)
Man, listening to this with headphones is simply incredible, the melody enters your soul and touches the door of nostalgia along with an inexplicable emotion...
I used to sit in my room with this song playing on repeat for hours while i read. I swear I know each and every note by heart even though I don't know music at all. But I know this soundtrack well enough to pick out when an artist misses a note when they do their own renditions. I loved this game's music enough that when it come out on GBA first thing I did was check out the music. Naturally the GBA's music was vastly inferior but I was starved for this soundtrack. Bayou Boogie and Forest Interlude hold a special place in my heart because when I got this game I was living on a street that was in a very wooded area. The look of the sun streaming in through the trees in late summer/early fall and because we lived near a pond and the yard was always overgrown when it rained the yard flooded to just the point that you could look in the side and back yards and see all of these trees surrounded by water that really was maybe ankle deep at the most but with all the plant litter, fallen leaves, bits of flowers tat had fallen from the trees and these long wirey things that the trees had that would fall off, in my eyes it looked like a swamp. A deep and treacherous bog filled with snakes and gators. When I listen to this song it takes me back to my childhood. You've done a great job on this song. It's not 1:1 with what the SNES put out but it's 1:1 with what my imagination and nostalgia enhanced this song to be.
This game was a milestone in so many aspects. It's incredible how well Wise's synth compositions are atmospheric. And the compression didn't kill the vibe.
I've seen a lot of comments in these videos about wanting a remake of this game with the TF graphics but honestly, I want a remaster with the pre-render graphics but before they were converted to be on the SNES. I doubt that they still have them though
@@sweetpataterz8738 TF was a great game indeed but if they made a remake of original DKC trilogy I would also want it to remain its original artstyle. TF is more cartoonish looking while original DKC has that prerendered look like a CGI movie such as toy story.
found your channel/work a few days ago. to say im impressed would be an understatement!! all these restored songs are absolutely amazing, keep up the fantastic work!! :]
My mom and I despite those dastardly Kloaks. Maybe not in these levels (though that one that throws a Zinger was a little evil), but the ones in that one bramble level would always tick me off. They're so loud, too! It's like their laughs and noises are being played at 100 decibels.
veo el video e inmediatamente se me vienen a la memoria los sonidos que van apareciendo en la pantalla, de rambi de los enemigos, los disparamos, monedas, etc

I don't know if you're one for psychedelics, but the DKC 1-3 OSTs whilst on magic mushrooms is an amazing experience.

you can practically feel the Phil Collins influence in the air (tonight)
oh lord!
i've been waiting for this moment all my life
I can feel it!! Coooomin in the aaaaair toniiight!
Heeey. Nice observation. Of course.
DKC composer David Wise must've liked that song. (Both David and Phil Collins are British musicians.)
David Wise. The British Koji Kondo.
I know that mark on those free-to-rotate barrels is supposed to be a rotating circular arrow, but it STILL looks like a big "G".
Lmao I always thought the same. Took me YEARS to see the rotating circular arrow, when I was little I thought the G was for "GIRAR", which means "spinning" in my native language.
As a kid, I called them G-Barrels for that reason.
oh my gosh, it's not a G?
G is for GRotate 🌚🤣
It clearly stands for gyrate!

I can hear this calling on the air at night. And it's awesome.
You could get infinite lives in this stage just by walking three steps back and forth to make a balloon throwing kloak respawn
You can really hear the wind pipes in this one. It adds an extra layer I had never thought of before. Great job!
This whole OST is an electronica masterpiece.
