I am really disappointed with Chanel too. It was my first time buying from Chanel and I just bought a 23c mini flap 5 days ago. The hardware were tarnished and I didn’t know it as I thought that was the design. I brought it back into the boutique today and they said they can’t do a one to one exchange as it can’t be resold. The staff told me that once the bag left the boutique, it meant that the customer accept the condition of the bag. Argh, the customer service is really terrible and they could only change the hardware.
If possible please try to visit another Chanel store nearby for a second opinion I once both a LV bag wich had default I noticed after purchase. When I went back to the store where I bought it they gave me a similar responds as the chanel store gave you but when I went to another lv store in town, explaining what happened they were shocked and could not believe they let me walk out of the store without giving me a proper solution since i had the bag for 2 days. They inmediatelly gave a new one and made a report about what happened. I know Chanel is way more upscale than LV but maybe another store may be willing to help you more
@Nathalie, sorry for what happened to you. I jam just curious, why would you think that is normal in any bag let along a premier designer one? Not judging, but a word of advice, always before going to purchase a luxury handbag, do your research first and that will always help you 😊

Try using a jewelry cleaning cloth. I used my James Avery cloth on one of my Chanel bags and it removed the tarnish. The hardware now looks so shiny.

Thanks for your tips on buying preloved pieces. My favourite jewelry pieces are earrings in silver hardware. I live in a place where it gets very cold and you always need a jacket but at least people can always still see your choice of earrings.
