Nitrogen deficiency: Older fronds light green throughout, new fronds remain dark green until deficiency is really severe Potassium: Older fronds get translucent yellow/orange or dead spots on fronds, especially at the tips. Sometimes tips are curled or frizzled. Always starts at tips of oldest leaves, moving inwards Magnesium: Yellow linear bands on leaves but generally transitions to solid green at the base of each leaf. Never causes leaf tip necrosis Iron: Many times caused by overly mucky soil and root rot. Starts with new spear leaves with yellow-green or even white, possibly with spots of green. Manganese: Lengthwise necrotic streaks in leaves with dead and curled leaf tips. Similar to bands showing Magnesium deficiency Boron: Bent or necrotic or distorted leaf tips, distorted or bent spear, bands of dead spots on new fans, spears that won't fully open Underwatering folding fronds, brown at the edges first, later followed by yellowing of the whole leaf. Overwatering can be drooping fronds turning yellowish and losing color
Thanks! That's one reason I put these videos on here is because we explain the same thing over and over on PT and sometimes the explanations are complex and I don't have time to post them. Also it really irks me when I post a detailed explanation on there and the poster disappears or you need a follow up photo and the poster never puts it on there.
Great video with great information! A couple questions, unfortunately some of my leaves are doing the thing where they fold up which as you stated in this video is because of not enough water, if I start to water them more is it possible the leaves will unfold again or can you not really undo that? Also in your opinion what is the best time of the day to water a windmill palm or does it not really matter?
Fronds will unfold if it is not dying or something really bad. You can water early in the morning or late afternoon as long as you're watering the ground and not soaking the fronds.

I'm going to reference this video on PalmTalk anytime anyone has a question going forward about their Trachys. Thanks for putting this together.
