Bertha Lake Hike in Waterton | Journey Alberta

- The Bertha Lake hike in Waterton Lakes National Park is one of the reopened trails affected by the 2017 Kenow Wildfire. It's a moderate trail up to the lake, and also goes past the beautiful Bertha Falls. The lake itself seemed mostly unaffected by the fire, with lots of trees seemingly unburnt at the lake. On the way to the lake however, evidence of the fire is all around you. You'll walk through ash in some parts and see burnt trees, which is a different experience on a hike.
This video was originally part of my Camping in Waterton 2018 video I made, but since I've got some requests lately to do this hike in a video it was clear it was overlooked because there wasn't a specific video for it.

Just hiked this trail Aug. 30/23, only got as far as the upper falls though. The forest has started to recover from the fire but there are still many signs of it. Next time I've challenged myself to make it all the way to the lake but at 64 it's not as easy as it used to be!
Great video,we did it June 17th 2019,it rained all the way down but it was well worth it.It's amazing how beautiful it still is after the fire. Great views and scenery
