    I'm quite skeptical. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great this film is getting a sequel, but with the recent hit-or-miss that studios have had in terms of quality, it would be wiser to wait for more information on the film before assuming it to be good. Otherwise, viewers will have expectations that will be easier to underwhelm.

    I’m glad to see someone keep an optimistic mind over Inside Out 2. If there are going to be 4 more emotions because of Riley hitting puberty, then why don't Riley's parent's have these emotions in the first film? Obviously its because they didn't think of it at the time, but in-universe its very odd.

      My idea is that
      During childhood emotions are more simple, so only the main 5 emotions are needed.
      In teenage years, you develop much more complex emotions, but you can’t control them as well and it’s chaos
      And as you get older, your emotions regain control, and the other emotions are resorted to secondary duties in other parts of the brain,

    • @Rebecca_George
      @Rebecca_George 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +53

      Something that I noticed is that the new emotions are unhealthy manifestations of the other emotions barring joy. Anxiety is an overwhelming and uncontrollable feeling of fear, Envy is an irrational feeling of anger, Embarrassment is sadness from an overbearing self consciousness, and Ennui could be cynicism or “disgust” at the world.
      One thing that might happen is that these new emotions may disappear at the end of the film as the old ones accept they’re just manifestations of themselves. (We already covered toxic positivity in the first film, so there’s no need to retread that)

    Disgust's new VA sounds WAY too close to Joy's VA in voice type. Mindy Kaling, for all her faults, and possibly from her subconscious feelings about herself, was AMAZING at sounding passively disgusted with every line of dialogue. Even neutral lines were delivered in a way that really made her seem like a person whose every emotion, happiness, anger, worry, concern, was filtered through a lense of disgust. And that was brillant. All of the voice actors did this, and it really made them feel like people and not just caricatures of the emotion they're supposed to be representing. This performance though... the little bit I've seen is more than disappointing. It's a disservice to the character. She was Anger's yes man, the final vote in the heavy decision to run away and make new core memories, the one who reminds everyone to "stay happy" out of concern for Riley's islands of personality. Her role in the trio of the three emotions left behind was effective and memorable. I hate to say it but I... I don't have a lot of faith in this vocal performance. Not much faith that she'll feel as unique as she did.

    This is going to be a long comment , but I do fancy getting this stuff off my head.
    I liked inside out, not just for the movie it’s self but also because I find the concept creepy with the whole people in our head shtick which I do also like in twisted way. but I liked the movie over all.
    But to make a sequel will kinda tarnish its reputation and I honestly think the first inside out was honestly a perfect ending, we just assume Riley has a bright future ahead of her and the story concludes.
    But my main issue is…well, what are they going to do. It’s more than likely they leave headquarters but is that it. Because there are possible new things inside out can explore like the the collective unconscious or maybe it takes place in a different mind with their own struggles and challenges.
    But from the looks of it I’m quite unsure, but we’ll see.
    And also the new emotions…not gonna lie some of these chooses are…questionable at best and non-sensical at worst.
    Anxiety while it’s is indeed different from fear, it’s not different enough to be its own emotion based character I feel like. It’s like having depression being a long side sadness.
    Envy I think suffers from the same issue as anxiety, while there is a difference I just think two emotions should combine to produce it.
    And ennui should honestly be the lack of emotion.
    But to be fair the only one that gets my interest is embarrassment. Tho I think the reason why I’m interested is because I do think that embarrassment is the wrong choice here. Shame imo is the core emotion of feelings such as embarrassment, guilt, remorse and regret if you will, not to mention that shame is a self-conscious emotion aimed directly at the person them-selves and is often known as one the most painful mental feeling to exist.
    And already I think that opens up a lot of possibilities. Shame could be the tallest and lankiest out the emotions for his overseeing nature, he’s black with grey hair, orange eyes and sharpe nails that he checks from time to time.
    Unlike the other emotions who have human like teeth shame has sharp white teeth that can make a toothy green when he smiles from amusement.
    And just like the sharp painful feeling he produces he dresses sharp both figuratively and literally with sharp edges on his work suit with a pointy bow tie.
    And for narrative content of shame as a character, you could have him play a similar role to sadness from the first film but is snarky, sassy and is rather self-conscious about him-self.
    but unlike sadness who never really intended in getting in joys way.
    Shames intention’s do get in the way of joys, joy’s job is to motivate and encourage Riley while shame’s purpose is to belittle Riley when she dose something questionable or regrettable.
    In short they clash with each other due to their purpose thanks to the emotions they represent and thus having a completive rivalry for leadership.
    Shame is the death and darkness to joys life and light. But like all emotions shame does have a valuable purpose in Riley’s head. And shames purpose is to discourage moral or social norm violations so Riley can be accepted into society or groups, and may even motivate Riley to repair relationships.
    And honestly I could go on about a narrative I could come up with that lone concept and that was just me sharing an idea. But that’s honestly what they’re missing out with embarrassment so I feel rather meh about it.
    Also you have the issue of how these new emotions came about, in the first film we see that everyone has the basic five but nothing really out side of that…so how did these new emotions suddenly appear. I know it’s a Disney Pixar film but still some explanation would be nice.
    And over all I feel like this is just a way to gain cash after the rough time Disney has been caught up in lately and so need to get recognisable ips and turn out a few sequels in-clouding other Disney properties.
    Especially because the first movie felt like it came from a heart, the whole reason why inside out exists is because Peter doctor was inspired by his daughter at least that’s what I could recall, but this just feels so corporate. And if that’s the case then…well, as much as I regret referencing my inside out OC but is a great shame indeed.
    I hope the movie does well but I’m not really up for watching it and genuinely don’t feel like I’m missing out on much.
    In-fact in all honesty I think a tv series would do the franchise better, have every episode take place after the events of the first film and each episode has its own unique theme and situations.
    Sorry for my some what cynical out look but I worried to my guts. And understand why people are exited tho I suppose I just have to wait and see.

    • @abreakfastfaceproduction2598
      @abreakfastfaceproduction2598 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I really like your idea for shame! I would honestly enjoy it if we just got one new emotion that, combined with the other 5 emotions, created a lot of common feelings experienced during puberty.
      That would make it harder for the core 5 emotions to "fight" shame or try to take back control over the panel as it would only just create new feelings still laced in shame.
      I'm not sure what each combination would be but i imagine joy and shame would create a mischievous feeling, like the glee of getting away with something. This could make Riley lie more or become more rebellious as teenagers often do.
      Perhaps at the climax, Joy will have to embrace this feeling to help Riley in some way and will need shame for it.

    • @afroling2096
      @afroling2096 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Why thank you that means a lot especially because it was just an idea that just popped into my head.
      And for possible feeling combinations I do think that joy and shame would create a glee or guilty pleasure like you mentioned, like eating ice cream when you really shouldn’t be.
      But I also think joy and shame could create feelings of humble too. You get an award but you also feel like you don’t deserve it.
      Sadness and shame could create regret or remorse.
      Fear and shame could create embarrassment ,bashfulness and even humiliation.
      Disgust and shame could create guilt.
      And anger and shame could create self-loathing.
      And for a more advanced feeling of shame I would go mortify.
      And for a story I was think that shame could be painted as this antagonistic figure especially by joy but with some charm and charisma. But as you go deeper into the film it’s shown that shame dose really care and isn’t such a bad emotion as joy makes him out to be, he’s just really worried for Riley’s future and so wants to make sure Riley has the best possible out come which is why he does the things he does.preventing Riley from being an absolute party animal who’s out of control and has shabby morals.
      And joy also has a valid concern with shame being to over taking in his role and doesn’t want Riley to be overly depressed or live a boring unfulfilled life.
      But also lacks the knowledge of shames important role in Riley’s overall morality.
      In the end both are humbled and see each others points, coming to a middle ground. While also making Riley her self humble creating a healthy balance of both worlds.

Though i dont think i like anxietys design, it doesnt fit with the first 5 whos designs were based on things that elisited the emotion. Like joy a star, fear a nerve, and disgust broccoli.

When I first saw the original, I knew I was in for a good Pixar movie with hearing about it. But I didn’t know I would be in for a great Pixar movie. I have high functioning autism and suffer from mild anxiety! I’ve now seen the first movie 5 times in nearly a decade. Pixar has never let me down before!

    I'm worried that, even if the sequel is another masterpiece, the higher ups may still have the wrong idea what made it successful since they are so goddamn deaf blind to not understand mistakes and refuse listening to their critics and audience's feedback of what it actually made it work. They often just don't see each film as art but just products for cheap cash.
    I'm concerned that they would misinterpreted Inside Out 2's successful was because it's just another sequel and nothing else which would encourage them continue making even more sequels and less original work. To a lesser extent, while a movie where the protagonist being a teenage girl struggling with usual teenage issues of growing up could work depending of how they execute it, I'm slightly worried if that premise becomes a trend in Pixar since we have already two Pixar movies about teenage girls growing up.
    I don't know but it reminds me of how overly obliviously Mattel got when Barbie got massively successful that they wrongly assumed the cause was because of it being simply just a mature movie based on a toy rather than anything else and they already planed to adapt almost all of their toy lines into dark movies for older audiences.

  • @BlazeNStar
    @BlazeNStar 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Adding anxiety is really smart, it plays such a prominent role in teen years, and understanding the role of anxiety is important for everyone at all ages, as it can be behind so many of our feelings and actions. Anxiety is an important emotion with a lot of possibility, paired with other emotions like joy it can make feelings like the nervous excitement of driving a car the first time, with anger it can produce that defiant outlash common to teen rebellion as you find your place in society, with sadness it can lead to self-doubt and make us evaluate and reevaluate life and our actions, with fear it can lead to paranoia of what can go wrong which can lead us to being more prepared, with disgust it can cause us on questioninh and evaluating our health and our appearance allowing us to be more aware of ourselves.
    Adding 1 or even 2 new emotions wouldn't truly make future instalments of Inside Out too repetitive as long as these emotions are backed with a a deeper understanding of what the emotions are and their role, as well as what we really feel and have felt via emotional maturity. But after a that, if they keep adding more it would get too specific, and become redundant for anything longer than a 11 minute episode, so I hope they can walk that line.

    One way to ruin the movie?
    Delete the boy from the Ending/Short and/or any potential interaction from him with Riley...
    And put some other girl together with her, just because...
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    And I dont mean friendship... Which seems to be alien relationship dynamics between people for writers nowadays, especially between the same sex.

    But I'm unsure about the whole adding new emotions thing for two reasons.
    1)becuase like everyone else pointed out, these new emotions weren't in others people heads and trust me things like anxiety do not go away once you pass puberty and in many cases are not easier to control.
    2)I feel like anxiety is more of a mental condition/illness than an emotion at least based on my own experience with it.

    My main problem is that a puberty doesn't. Make sense in sppealibg to the kids that saw the first one. Like take monsters inc and monsters university for example.. Monsters Inc came out in 2001 and the target demographic would be around 9 years old. Then monsters u came out 12 years later in 2013 meaning those 9 year Olds would be around 21 years old then and going to college themselves. And that's good because the movies message is important in how even if you fail there's still other options for you. Now let's do the same for inside out. It came out in 2015 I watched it back then and I was 9. If we do the same as we did for monsters in and u. Those 9 year Olds by the time it realeses next year would be 18 years old which means at best they'd be freshly out of puberty. As of right now I'm skeptical but who knows? Maybe I'll be positively suprised

    I didn’t like inside out as much as others evidently did. The whole story of Riley “running away” back to Minnesota made zero sense. Was she going to a relative? A friend? She’s only like 12. The concept of joy falling in the pit to be deleted also made zero sense. What happens if your joy emotion is permanently deleted? It makes no sense. I guess I’m technically allowed to speculate and fill in the blanks on my own. The story that best fits to me, is that Riley is adopted and she was running away to be with her birth mother. maybe I’m just sexist because there are no male characters for me to attach to. But then again Riley is barely a character at all, and joy is so superficial with her always bubbly happy which is hard for me to view as realistic.

      In my experience, writers for animated Disney properties (Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Disney Channel, Disney Junior) can be trusted to be more creative than writers for live-action Disney properties (remakes of animated films, Marvel, Lucasfilm). I know this sounds unbelievable, but not every modern Disney production is written, directed and produced the same way for the woke activists who ruin entertainment for everyone, the only audience who would enjoy Velma on HBOmax.
