I think a relay split isn't equivalent to a world record due to the fact that you can start at any time However to the best of my knowledge the best ever relay split is 46.06 by Jason Lezak
@@darrenchristi1924 ( from google )Jason's split time of 46.06, is still the fastest 100m split in history. The next day, Jason won bronze in the 100m freestyle for the first individual Olympic medal of his career.

Butterfly leg and Xu Jiayu very very slow lead off leg cost china the gold . If butterfly leg will be one second faster , then Xu backstroke leg also capable of one second faster. Then it will be China's gold. I don't know what happens to Xu in lead off
@@user-te1et6qf6h it's not about getting old man . He already did 52.42 twice in this championship. One of them was when he leading off mixed medley relay here . All the ifs, buts, and maybes. You don’t simply drop one second in a relay, duh. 🙄 China has a top swimmer in each stroke except the fly - and that cost them. The US may be a much weaker team without Dressel but their strengths are more even across the field. It’s the same reason Australia lost the women’s medley relay - their breaststroke leg is too weak. To confidently win a medley relay, you need talent in all four strokes. That’s just reality.
Yeah Xu particularly was very disappointing. He should have did better. Probably won’t get china the gold even if he performed to his standards but would at least be pretty close to the US.
@@user-te1et6qf6h yes Murphy will lost both 100 and 200 back if Russians is there . Then he will take over the role of Wada president just as hid after losing gold medal in Tokyo 😀

Well done the China team
China's fly, the 2nd 50 m ran out of gas, so did the French free. The last Chinese swimmer could swim out of the water, looks like.

its a flying start, u get more power and faster reaction time
in medley, only the first swimmer (backstroke) can officially set new record. Others not, cause they have so called 'flying start'
Maxime Grousset split for France on 100 butterfly is 49.27 the second best ever
*relay
Relay splits tend to be faster as you dont have the reaction time delay of the gun
I know that
This is still the second relay split ever
