The Grassmarket (05:50 onwards) I used to walk through there every day in the 70's on my way to my work in Lothian Road - then it wax an assault-course full of wino's and tramps, all of them intent on stopping you to beg for money !. Now, it's one of our most popular tourist attractions - unbelievable the change in this area !

Strongly disagree. Edinburgh is a dump. Cold, wet and windy. Ugly, dirty buildings. Food awful. Weather áwful. People dour and unfriendly. Nothing worth seeing. Nothing to do.

@@davidlauder-qi5zvWell, sir, I myself have been to Edinburgh a number of times & that was not my experience at all! Plus, all the folks who have visited Edinburgh & who have posted many videos here on YT, which I have watched, all loved Edinburgh & say the same thing. Hmmm! Now that's a mystery! Moreover, if you hate Edinburgh so much, why did you take the time to click on a video of it in the first place? Then, take even more time to read the Comments? Then, take even more time to write & post a negative Reply about Edinburgh? All good questions you might want to ask yourself! That's definitely a lot of time to waste on a place & folks there you say you strongly did not like. Thereby insulting them & the beautiful City of Edinburgh. Not to mention, putting a damper on other folks happy experiences there. So, from what can clearly be seen by you're going out of you're way to do & say all of that, it looks like it's your attitude that's 'dour,' not the people of Edinburgh. Indeed! Aye laddie!" 'Tis always so true "If you're looking for the bad n something you're sure to find it." Indeed!

Loved your vlog we used to be forsed to go to Edinburgh as kids to see family who were extreamly different. There is a saying for Edinburgh " you'l have had your tea" so we used to stop at a for a take away in the car because we were all hungery, the oposit of my mothers family . We grew up in a tiny village 16 miles west of Glasgow, very warm fun people there.. My father grew up in Newtonmore. Edinburgh was always very windy and cold, but maybe it's because they never had the heating on, stunning house overlooking the castle at the back and the gardens at the front. My uncle had mind blowing stuff, 6 grandfather clocks
Sorry iv vented, still ahhhhh for me but my brother lives there so better feelings now, also very dislexic. Right im thinking about Glasgow better memories.

I enjoyed hearing this story and the details! Newtonmore is where the castle whiskey was made, I believe. We did make it to Glasgow and had a fun time there as well. There will be videos of our other city visits, but it takes me awhile since I have a busy job as a teacher and school just started. Thanks for your comment.

He had to get special permition to have a Catholic Best Man, he dummped religion and enjoyed to odd whisky. But in 70's religion caused alot of problems my mum & dad ignord all that and we were frends with anyone, even Mormons!!!@@DandL83

Edinburgh is NOT the most beautiful city ìn the world. What a laughable idea. It's a dump. There are hundreds of more attractive cities around the planet. Edinburgh is grey, ugly, cold, wet, full of dour, unfriendly, unapproachable people. The food is awful. The weather is awful. There is nothing worth seeing or doing. And it's dirty.

We were in Edinburgh about a month after you. It has become one of my favorite cities, and I would love to explore more of it. I love the closes along the Royal Mile. We went down one, and there was a raven there to greet us, perched on a wall. As we were heading out, I looked up and it looked like there were bird cutouts on the ceiling. I’m not sure what that meant! In any event, it looks like you had a wonderful time and are great travel companions!

A well known tongue twister, used as a sobriety test, is: 'The Leith Police dismisses us.' The Leith Police merged with the Edinburgh City Police in 1920. Eventually in recent years, Scotland became just one police force. Contrast that with the USA were there are hundreds of separate little forces.

Ahh. You seem like lovely ladies 😊. You really captured the beauty of Edinburgh, but as a side note, please don’t think that the breakfast you had at your hotel was in any way representative of a good traditional breakfast 😂. It looked very underwhelming. If you ever find yourselves back on this side of the pond, ( and you’d be very welcome!) I’d recommend skipping the hotel breakfast and heading out to one of the many cafes who do proper justice to this delicious plate of food 😊
