  • I've been wanting to make this video for a while because I think it's a trap almost everyone falls into when going through something challenging. Some people are able to identify it and move on but others spend their whole lives wishing they were in a different place. My hope is that this video will empower you to take hold of your life in a way that feels right for you and helps you move forward. Hope you enjoy the video!

    Your videos are amazing. 🥺 I experienced psychosis a year ago & the recovery has been difficult. Dealing with depression, anxiety, low self esteem, low confidence (wanting to be the bright extroverted self i was prior) and more. It’s been traumatic and it’s been hard to talk about it within my community as no one can relate. Thank you for creating this channel/ community. ♥️

      Thanks for sharing! I'm glad my videos have been helpful for you. It can be hard to have no one to relate to. That's one of the reasons I started talking about it on my channel. I'm amazed that it has turned into what it has. It's been healing for me and for others. Thank you for reminding me of the impact these videos can have.

    I became o completely different person after a 3 year psychosis. I dont care about or value the things I used to before it. Number 1 being my work. I have permanently left my work. Nor do I have the values or aspirations I used to have about it anymore. I also dont want anyone around me and I want to be completely alone and not talk to anyone. It keeps me safe and away from psychosis.

    This is such a great way to look at it. I was guilty of trying to go back to how I was beforehand... but you’re right, I’m a different person now, I’m wiser, and I’m going to move forward with who I am and what I have now. I’m recovering from psychosis. My episode lasted about 5 months and I had very severe depression for 3 months after. It took me a while to figure out I was having delusions. I’ve started going back to work, but seem to be having a lot of trauma responses. I have a support team that I trust. I’m curious what your day to day routine is like? How’s your short term memory? Mine is really bad. I often feel detached, like none of this matters. Do you feel present?

    • @justbeinghayden9451
      @justbeinghayden9451  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank your for sharing your story. My day to day routine varies depending on the day. On work days I get up and go straight to work. When I get home, I usually exercise or take a nap. On days off I do self care and have some time to relax. I haven't had any short term memory problems unless I don't get enough sleep. I feel present as long as a get enough sleep and take care of myself. If I get too in my head I start to feel a bit detached, but now I use that as a sign that I'm overthinking things.

    Yeah nice one! Yep, no going back, and I think that's for mental illness in general. I actually work as a peer support worker in a psychiatric hospital, so I find myself guiding people through this, especially for those in hospital for the first time. There's a coming out of denial, and a grieving process, letting go of the person they used to be. It can be a very rough landing, but you're right, focussing on what you can change, and practicising acceptance is really important, and there is a wisdom that is gained

Ditch the seemingly overly spiritual people. Ditch the seemingly overly loving huggy types. Its all a signs of mental illness and imbalance. focus on developing 1 primary close friendship with someone who is slightly older than you but holds a good full time job- they must be a hard worker! Then, once you have that 1 primary friend who is balanced and normal seeming go for a second, same category.

    Hii I am recovering from a drug induced psychosis mild one . I have a question why life is never normal again after recovery ? I have read many recovery stories that people recovered successfully and return to their life’s again and are normal . So why life is never same ? It can be same .

    • @justbeinghayden9451
      @justbeinghayden9451  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment. It all depends on what your definition of normal is. Some people after psychosis wish for things to get back to the way things were before instead of accepting where they are and moving forward. The truth is that every experience in life changes you as a person. Recovery from psychosis is absolutely possible, but not by pretending it didn't happen and trying to go back to the way one was before. But rather by embracing what happened and moving forward with it as an experience to learn from and integrate into your being. Does that distinction make sense? Trying to go back is based on fear, embracing and moving forward is based on empowerment and acceptance.

    My daughter had a first episode of psychosis 3 months ago and her personality is now really dimmed and her cognitive abilities are crushed. We caught it in real time so I was told prognosis would be good. However, is her personality going to come back and her and her cognitive abilities? Do some people recover to their prior baseline of normal cognitive capacity with normal, non stunted conversations, etc. ?

      Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to hear that your daughter and family are going through this. It can be really difficult for both the person experiencing psychosis and the support team around them. Recovery is possible, what that looks like is going to vary from person to person. There are a lot of variables at play and time is a big element in that as well. As the process unfolds you will see how the recovery is going. A lot of it is just meeting your daughter where she is and focusing on the progress she does make and then also making sure you are getting the care and support you need to help you through this process.

    Can any one tell me if this is common and if it will sort itself out please...my son who's 21 relapsed and went on a 4 mth crazy episode where he literally destroyed his life in all areas and was so high on drugs like cocaine and cannabis he went very delusional and paranoid like drug induced psychosis really badly. He wouldnt accept help from the mental health team but eventually agreed to go and live in a Christian rehabilitation place where you cant take anything at all not even smoke cigarettes or anything, hes only been there 3.5 weeks now and had stopped taking class As about 3 weeks before he went in so no class A drugs for just over 6 weeks and completely clean for 3.5 weeks. When we've spoke to him on the phone its all positive apart from there still seems to be some delusion / paranoia. Hes saying people from his past are living there too at the rehabilitation place but this is not true and hes normally very truthful. My question is can people still have some delusion and paranoia even after 6 weeks of being clean?

    • @justbeinghayden9451
      @justbeinghayden9451  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes it takes a long time to come down from a psychosis. Think of it like reprogramming your whole brain. When you go into psychosis you have a different operating system it takes a while to change that based off what reality presents. It took me over 6 months to get past most of my delusions. Is he on medication? Medication can help him come down from the experience. I'm sorry you and him are dealing with all this it's not easy. I hope he will accept mental health support sometime.

    • @justbeinghayden9451
      @justbeinghayden9451  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not exactly. It depends on how you define normal. Most people in recovery define normal as going back to how things were instead of focusing on where they are now moving towards goals and facing the challenges at hand. I am not saying you cannot build a beautiful life again, just that it comes from being real with where one is in the moment and taking steps from there to build towards the life you desire.

    • @justbeinghayden9451

      It depends on how much stress you can handle. I had to gradually build up to full time but everyone's experience is different. Recovery is different for everyone. Rejoicing in the progress you have made is usually what I suggest people focus on, as comparisons with how things were before psychosis is often not helpful. Focus on your achievements and setting attainable goals with a plan 👍

    • @justbeinghayden9451
      @justbeinghayden9451  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You won't be the same in the sense that anyone who goes through something challenging is not the same afterwards. It's not necessarily a bad thing, you just have an experience that has probably changed your perception of yourself and the world. Some of those will stay and others you will decide don't really fit in your life. As far as symptoms go it depends on the person, but you can live a successful life if you choose to afterwards. Good luck in you recovery!
