I can relate - although American, I am living in England and discovered History Hunters as of the beginning of lockdown. They also helped get me through some especially long-winded days, weeks and months. An added bonus for me, is they've taken me (virtually) back to some places that I really miss back home - including my hometown! All the best to you, Mr. Sandford.

I think it shows you appreciate your subscribers ,just the fact you are questioning why there are a few with negative thoughts. It shows you care! I was watching 1 other persons channel before , he had a good channel, covered material well, but for some reasons I won't mention things he did or did not do or said, I realized I didn't like certain things I could not watch no more so I unsubscribed . Anyway I won't mention this person's channel ! I just left! I'm sure he would say he don't need me he don't, all good , so I don't know why people make negative personal remarks, just leave right! I was thinking of doing a channel about my life's work landscaping ,brick work plants, design, concrete, construction ect but because I've seen comments on all channels , makes me wonder if I wanted to deal with it, so I have held off for some time now, probably never will! Give you credit for dealing with it ! it is a small percentage ,so ignore it best you can would be my advice . You are in my top favorite channels. I tried motivational speaking a few years back. I would always hand out a comment form at the end and ask the attendees to leave some feedback. It wasn't mandatory. There would always be someone, or two, who would have leave a snarky comment. Like you said, 99.99999% of the people appreciate your vids, the production time and the research that goes into them. Just took a trip up to Central City/Blaw Hawk and I gotta tell you the service industry is broken: rude and unattentive jerks. I guess these people are everywhere now. This is the best channel on TH-cam because it is interesting, tells great history, and the videos are beautifully and professionally done.

I would say 99% of these kinds of comments are from trolls and it in their minds gives them some sort of notoriety especially when you respond and even more so say their names. In my opinion you and Sarah do a great job.

Delete and block will be any youtuber's best friend if you want to continue on the platform. If it's a dumb comment then I don't respond. If it's hateful in some way not matter who it is towards then I delete and block. You are right about needing to have thick skin and I think anyone who isn't creating doesn't really realize the amount of work it takes for 15 minutes. I did not realize we started our channels at about the same time. March of 17 is really what I consider my start date.
I remember once how you said the thumbs down and negative comments actually helps YT promote our videos. I never forgot that. Thanks for how you've always encouraged us not only with your comments but your videos as well! I always enjoy your visits to cemeteries and other locations!

Aww Jeff and Sarah, we understand about haters. I had a blog for several years and by far the great majority of comments I received were nice, but there were some truly ignorant and terrible ones as well. I stopped the blog. Just got sick and tired of feeling like I should defend myself and of hearing such vicious and false comments. I wanted my life to be private again. I am not on ANY social media. Never had a desire to go there. I have witnessed to much phoniness and nastiness on other's social media. Adults acting like mean middle school kids. No thanks. We have always loved your channel and both of you. We are history geeks from NH, and don't know much about CA, but you bring that history to life! Thank you! I know it can be hard sometime, but honestly, those who leave negative comments are not worth a minute of your time or thoughts. I agree that some comments cut to the quick and gnaw at you, but as you said, most everyone LOVES what you do, and that includes ME. It's ironic how TH-cam has such stringent rules and regs concerning their site, but don't mind it when people post such vile and hateful comments. What has stuck with me lately is a morning devotional by the guitarist Doyle Dykes where he said ....Give Thanks, but add to that give forgiveness. Yes, this is the season of giving thanks, but what the world needs more of is 'forgiveness', which is difficult sometimes. Mate…people can be a number of things…jealous, bitter, suffering from mental health issues or just having a bad day. While most of us don’t take to the keyboard to unfeasibly criticise a TH-cam post, some are lonely enough to do just that. I’ve been able to see this wonderful area that we live in with a different set of eyes. There will always be miserable, hateful people who take their unhappiness out on others. Hi Jeff and Sarah, I was very surprised to learn that you get nasty comments. Each episode you two do is very professionally done and very interesting! You know your "stuff" and I've learned so much from your channel. You have even visited some of the places I remember from growing up in SoCal (Knotts Berry Farm, San Diego). I've noticed that you have been studying history for a long time from watching your videos. Your episode with your mom having dementia/Alzheimers really hit home as all of the things you mentioned were exactly what I went through with my Mom. I've always thought that you could be on TV narrating shows like A&E, The History Channel, etc. Just ignore the haters.

I enjoy the way you report/ tell history. If it wasn't for you my family wouldn't of known about a great aunt that is buried up near your area. I appreciate that you remind us of the tragedies that has fallen on our fellow citizens. And how those tragedies have changed regulations for flying , construction and how our officers protect and serve. Funny how most of the haters can't spell, have terrible grammar and punctuation. That tells you how uneducated and ignorant they are. I live in Sonoma County, spend a good amount of time in Virginia City, NV and have family down in Turlock, so I’ve had the privilege of going to several locations that you’ve visited. Jeff, we appreciate your channel more than you know. Several times a week I’m searching for a new video on History Hunters! These negative comments come from people that are jealous of your success and are trying to tear you down. Hang in there with that thick skin!
You make great stuff. Telling the history of a tragedy, keeps those people in the hearts and minds of those that come along later and maybe even explain why a thing is the way it is and how it has improved or protected their own lives years and decades after. But some people love ignorance, it makes their own insensitivities and racism easy and feel good because they have no information to challenge their brains or question their world view. If there is one... We DIE in history repeating if we choose shallow understanding of days past. Thanks Jeff and Sarah for helping to teach willing minds about past people, events and days gone by. ps: As a photographer I understand the annoyance of people going on about your approach into your creative license... Go get your camera and shoot it your way. They never do, or usually even can.

I just wanted to let you know that I have been watching you channel for a while now and it looks like to me, that you spend a lot of time researching and scripting each episode. I really enjoy what you do. FYI: I don't comment on many channels I watch but I thought I would let you know that this Oklahoma boy (old man) likes what you do so keep up the good work.

Jeff, IMO most of the negative comments have absolutely nothing to do with anything about you or your channel, they are just trolls who thrive on attention. Negative attention is easy to get, and that's why they do/say what they do. FWIW, I think your content is an outstanding balance of local history events, and I have found all of it to be interesting, partly because it includes some unfortunate events. That is an inescapable part of history. Your channel is one of the very few on TH-cam where I genuinely look forward to new content. Your videos have inspired my daughter (also a local history freak) and I to travel to many locations you featured to check them out for ourselves. So my opinion at least, is please stay the course! You are doing fantastically. You deserve many more subscribers.

Mate; I loved your video on the four Police Offices gunned down by the two crims. You were extremely empathetic and respectful, and I left a couple of comments for you and quoted a couple of verses from our War memorials, as I am an ex Australian/British serviceman, having served in Malaya (during the Indonesian Confrontation of Malaya, Vietnam 1966 - 1967 and the Falkland Islands Conflict 1982. I always have the utmost respect for our deceased "Brothers" who served with us, and your tribute to those four lads was quite fitting. BTW Jeff, if I ask you "have you done a video of this subject or that subject" it is because I did not know how to look up your catalogue of subjects/Stories. Thanks mate.
I think a lot of these people leaving these kinds of comments are either miserable and they're trying to make others miserable (we have a lot of people in society like that!) or they don't know how to communicate and probably don't have many close friends, if at all, if they talk to people they know like this. I can relate - although American, I am living in England and discovered History Hunters as of the beginning of lockdown. They also helped get me through some especially long-winded days, weeks and months. An added bonus for me, is they've taken me (virtually) back to some places that I really miss back home - including my hometown! All the best to you, Mr. Sandford.

I think it shows you appreciate your subscribers ,just the fact you are questioning why there are a few with negative thoughts. It shows you care! I was watching 1 other persons channel before , he had a good channel, covered material well, but for some reasons I won't mention things he did or did not do or said, I realized I didn't like certain things I could not watch no more so I unsubscribed . Anyway I won't mention this person's channel ! I just left! I'm sure he would say he don't need me he don't, all good , so I don't know why people make negative personal remarks, just leave right! I was thinking of doing a channel about my life's work landscaping ,brick work plants, design, concrete, construction ect but because I've seen comments on all channels , makes me wonder if I wanted to deal with it, so I have held off for some time now, probably never will! Give you credit for dealing with it ! it is a small percentage ,so ignore it best you can would be my advice . You are in my top favorite channels. I tried motivational speaking a few years back. I would always hand out a comment form at the end and ask the attendees to leave some feedback. It wasn't mandatory. There would always be someone, or two, who would have leave a snarky comment. Like you said, 99.99999% of the people appreciate your vids, the production time and the research that goes into them. Just took a trip up to Central City/Blaw Hawk and I gotta tell you the service industry is broken: rude and unattentive jerks. I guess these people are everywhere now. This is the best channel on TH-cam because it is interesting, tells great history, and the videos are beautifully and professionally done.
I agree, the Millennial generation are too selfish to be nice. Customer service doesnt exist anymore. I've designed my life so that I do almost everything online!

I would say 99% of these kinds of comments are from trolls and it in their minds gives them some sort of notoriety especially when you respond and even more so say their names. In my opinion you and Sarah do a great job.

Delete and block will be any youtuber's best friend if you want to continue on the platform. If it's a dumb comment then I don't respond. If it's hateful in some way not matter who it is towards then I delete and block. You are right about needing to have thick skin and I think anyone who isn't creating doesn't really realize the amount of work it takes for 15 minutes. I did not realize we started our channels at about the same time. March of 17 is really what I consider my start date.
I remember once how you said the thumbs down and negative comments actually helps YT promote our videos. I never forgot that. Thanks for how you've always encouraged us not only with your comments but your videos as well! I always enjoy your visits to cemeteries and other locations!

Aww Jeff and Sarah, we understand about haters. I had a blog for several years and by far the great majority of comments I received were nice, but there were some truly ignorant and terrible ones as well. I stopped the blog. Just got sick and tired of feeling like I should defend myself and of hearing such vicious and false comments. I wanted my life to be private again. I am not on ANY social media. Never had a desire to go there. I have witnessed to much phoniness and nastiness on other's social media. Adults acting like mean middle school kids. No thanks. We have always loved your channel and both of you. We are history geeks from NH, and don't know much about CA, but you bring that history to life! Thank you! I know it can be hard sometime, but honestly, those who leave negative comments are not worth a minute of your time or thoughts. Lots of people are just jealous and unhappy with their own lives and they think being mean to others will make them feel better. Thumbs up to you and the adorable, funny Sarah!

Thanks for this video Jeff. As my dad used to say...."Don't Let The Turkeys Get You Down". I agree that some comments cut to the quick and gnaw at you, but as you said, most everyone LOVES what you do, and that includes ME. It's ironic how TH-cam has such stringent rules and regs concerning their site, but don't mind it when people post such vile and hateful comments. What has stuck with me lately is a morning devotional by the guitarist Doyle Dykes where he said ....Give Thanks, but add to that give forgiveness. Yes, this is the season of giving thanks, but what the world needs more of is 'forgiveness', which is difficult sometimes. Another saying that I was thinking of is.....Keep Moving Folks, Nothing To See Here.....I would say that to those thinking about posting their vile and hateful comments. Mate…people can be a number of things…jealous, bitter, suffering from mental health issues or just having a bad day. While most of us don’t take to the keyboard to unfeasibly criticise a TH-cam post, some are lonely enough to do just that.
I’ve only just seen this channel and subscribed as it’s unbiased, interesting and superbly put together.

Hi Jeff and Sarah, I was very surprised to learn that you get nasty comments. Each episode you two do is very professionally done and very interesting! You know your "stuff" and I've learned so much from your channel. You have even visited some of the places I remember from growing up in SoCal (Knotts Berry Farm, San Diego). I've noticed that you have been studying history for a long time from watching your videos. Your episode with your mom having dementia/Alzheimers really hit home as all of the things you mentioned were exactly what I went through with my Mom. I've always thought that you could be on TV narrating shows like A&E, The History Channel, etc. Just ignore the haters.

I enjoy the way you report/ tell history. If it wasn't for you my family wouldn't of known about a great aunt that is buried up near your area. I appreciate that you remind us of the tragedies that has fallen on our fellow citizens. And how those tragedies have changed regulations for flying , construction and how our officers protect and serve. Funny how most of the haters can't spell, have terrible grammar and punctuation. That tells you how uneducated and ignorant they are. Trolls are insecure, so they bully others to make themselves feel good. Its easier for people to nitpick and criticize, then to look at the positive. You're doing a great job with your channel!

I live in Sonoma County, spend a good amount of time in Virginia City, NV and have family down in Turlock, so I’ve had the privilege of going to several locations that you’ve visited. Being that the old west is one of my favorite periods in history to study, it was amazing to find out (thanks to you) that Bill Dalton is buried in Turlock! Amazing! Telling the history of a tragedy, keeps those people in the hearts and minds of those that come along later and maybe even explain why a thing is the way it is and how it has improved or protected their own lives years and decades after.
But some people love ignorance, it makes their own insensitivities and racism easy and feel good because they have no information to challenge their brains or question their world view. If there is one...
We DIE in history repeating if we choose shallow understanding of days past.

Jeff, IMO most of the negative comments have absolutely nothing to do with anything about you or your channel, they are just trolls who thrive on attention. Negative attention is easy to get, and that's why they do/say what they do.
FWIW, I think your content is an outstanding balance of local history events, and I have found all of it to be interesting, partly because it includes some unfortunate events. That is an inescapable part of history. Your channel is one of the very few on TH-cam where I genuinely look forward to new content. Your videos have inspired my daughter (also a local history freak) and I to travel to many locations you featured to check them out for ourselves.
So my opinion at least, is please stay the course! You are doing fantastically. You deserve many more subscribers.

Mate; I loved your video on the four Police Offices gunned down by the two crims. You were extremely empathetic and respectful, and I left a couple of comments for you and quoted a couple of verses from our War memorials, as I am an ex Australian/British serviceman, having served in Malaya (during the Indonesian Confrontation of Malaya, Vietnam 1966 - 1967 and the Falkland Islands Conflict 1982. I always have the utmost respect for our deceased "Brothers" who served with us, and your tribute to those four lads was quite fitting. BTW Jeff, if I ask you "have you done a video of this subject or that subject" it is because I did not know how to look up your catalogue of subjects/Stories. Thanks mate.

I think a lot of these people leaving these kinds of comments are either miserable and they're trying to make others miserable (we have a lot of people in society like that!) or they don't know how to communicate and probably don't have many close friends, if at all, if they talk to people they know like this.
