  • New Kraton 6s EXB RTR quick unbox and first bash!
    I had put my pre-order in the day after it was announced. I waited and waited while I watched so many others getting theirs. After checking w/ Tower and waiting to hear what the status was I got a notification my order was cancelled. WTH!! I waited months and ordered ASAP to help insure I get it in a timely fashion. I was going to wait till Spring but decided to get it now for the channel. Tower... (Horizon) we are potentially helping to get you additional sales due to the content but you are screwing us over and making that hard....
    First you took away easy pay, now you'r lucky if you get a tracking number or only one charge on your card.

      lol thanks 😛 I like to sus out the weakness early on 😆 jk I fixed it and took it right back to the jump that broke it the next day and boosted even bigger haha the soft ramps are brutal on the fronts. Once it hardens up it’s not such an issue.

    In my experience, if you pull out the top pillow ball and remove the silver washer from behind it, put it back in on the lower control arm remove the ridge spacers and put it back together and it moves the axle in and they won’t come out and break the cuphaven’t had an issue since

      Agreed. Pull those anodized parts off the end of arms and spacers. Axles and drive cup will live forever.. 👍

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The axle didn't pop out though like the older version. The longer cups don't allow it to pop out, but it doesn't like running the axle on the vary edge of the cup like that vary well. I've got around 9 or 10 6s Arrma and have only had a few have the dreadded axle issue, thank my lucky stars. But on the ones I did the spacers didn't do it. Neither did droop screw adjustment because it's the shocks having too much up travel thats what allows the axle to pop out. Putting a .25' piece of nitro fuel line on the shock shafts acted as a bump stop and was the only thing that fixed it for me. My Outcast XL build was the worst with it, and now as you can see in the vids it can take a beating now.

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That didn't solve it on my prior 6s trucks that had the issue. They kept popping out. These new cups are longer the axle doesn't pop out it just rides the vary edge until it breaks. These snow ramps are hard on them when hitting them at speed they compress quite a bit, summer they do a lot better.

      It's happening way to much. Me myself I've never broken a drive cup. If the metal is to hard they will break like glass. Great video mate and there's no substitute for a arrma kraton 6s 🤭🤪🤣🤣🤣

    Awesome video. Sweet ride can't believe dog bone bent, but easy fix .they might of made tolerance to tight on drive cup, last model dog bones popped out.

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Eh, out of the 9 or so 6s Arrma I have I've only had a few issues with the axle popping out. The bending of the axles seems more common, but hard to say its still early on and the snow jumps can do a number on the transition sometimes.

    👍🏻 Thumbs up. Good content. Sorry about the breakage. Those long arms and driveshafts break so much easier, especially in the cold. That's why I went with the thicker M2C ones for my V5 K6. It was a necessity with the added weight and 8s. I'm really into the short arm 6s ARRMA's lately. I've learned that less weight and shorter arms/driveshafts are more feasible with the 1/8th platform if you stay with stock stuff. M2C doesn't make the upgrade driveshafts for the Mojave and Typhon for a reason. They don't bend near as easily. I built a K6/Mojave hybrid to get around the driveshaft issue. The wide arms are overrated imo. Wish they'd bring the 6s Senton back. Had the shortest arms. Less weight.

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dude I'm with you on all that! I keep as light as possible and I had 2 Outcast EXB 6s that I took apart to do shorter arm builds with. One has truggified Typhon arms, one has Mojave arms, and I have an OG 6s Senton I upgraded with EXB and TLR parts. The diff and arm issue I'm having is sort of exacerbated by the snow ramps. the arms and shocks ect let stuff travel and bend due to the high speed and squishy ramp. The only issue w/ the shorter arms is they don't handle the rough terrain as good. Usually I'm running my XLWB stuff and they really benefit from the longer arms. I want to build a XLWB with shorter arms soon that sounds fun!

    You are more likely to break stuff at below 60deg Fahrenheit, extremely more likely below freezing. You got the same habits as I do. Bash, Fix, Upgrade, Wrench, Repeat 🔥🔥🔥🔥

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea, plastics don’t like the cold for sure. The metal doesn’t care at these temps though. As long as I land on all 4 or in powder I rarely break. I have a different style of bashing for winter, and as long as I stay above 20f I don’t break unnecessarily. The time prior I took the big rock out it was pretty cold so it was probably broke from then honestly. An yep, I fixed it and went back the next day and got redemption! Same jump but bigger haha bash on bro! 🚀🤘🏼🤘🏼

    To the folks talking about the cold causing this.. I live in AZ, drove my Kraton 6s EXB V2 in 73 degrees weather and my drive cup broken exactly like this. Brand new, day one and I broke it 2 hours into driving it.

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea, it’s most def not a new thing or a temp. issue. I’ve been battling it for a few years. The tubing used to work, but these new shocks are a different animal. They are just so plush that when you g out on the jump it compresses too much. I’m betting when yours broke it was in a soft sandy type of terrain? That’s where mine does it in the summers…

    • @AnthonyBencomo
      @AnthonyBencomo 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@StraitJacketRC harder dirt, I launched it off of a fence trying to backflip. So the nitro tubing won’t work on the new Kraton.. jeez. Gonna keep breaking these then? I heard the RPM arms are shorter. Could help with the popping out.

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea I looks like this right now doesn’t like the tubing trick as much. But, it took a bit for it to pop out so there’s that I guess lol. One option is to go back to the reg cups and pop them back in here and there when and if they come free.
      Another option is the rpm arms, some people have good luck with this. Then there is the other mod my buddy swears on, where you shave the outer end of the arm off, to mimic the shorter rpm arm. Like 2mm or so I couldn’t say as I’ve not done it. I can find out though. Safe a few bucks plus some don’t care for the excessive flex the rpm offer. We can get it dialed in, some times newish rigs take a lil test and tune to your piticular style and liking.

    I think the 1st 3rd and 4th jumps did that but I think really the 1st head on jump
    You’ll hear the kratons diffs not happy about the transition
    But the 2nd jump was fabuloUS and🤬 Smmmmmmmoth too👊🏿🤤🤤😎

      Yea, it’s a problem Ive dealt with in the winter in previous years. The snow was super soft, and the arms are able to move way too far up. Like I’ve done on previous 6s Arrma I used my fix method, and I just put out another video going back to that big last jump that finally broke the cup. No more crunch, and some nice sends! Thanks for checking us out man! 💯😛🚀

    ok so outta the 2 most recent rigs- the 4s outcast and this beast which overall would you recommend?

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Eh, I can say one or the other but for it to mean anything to YOU I'd need to know lots of info to best suggest. Type of terrain, style of running, room to run, what features etc. The smaller and lighter stuff is better suited for smaller areas and smoother surfaces. I run a lot at the Motocross track and the ruts and rocks are too big for anything 4s. Outcast is going to shine at backyard ramps, skate parks and such. The Kraton likes more room, and can be sent way harder. The new Big Rock is looking to be a savage as well, I've only had it out a few times but it's enough like the Fireteam to know I'll love it just as I do my Fireteam!

  • @AnthonyBencomo
    @AnthonyBencomo 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    @straitjacket, you mentioned getting m2 replacements. The cups, won’t they be shorter than Arrma new longer cups? So you’ll get the dog bones popping out like they were in the last version of the Kraton.
    And then M2’s dog bone is .5 mm shorter than stock which will exacerbate the popping out issue.
    Did you say the fuel line tubing prevents the breaking of the cups?
    It wouldn’t allow the arm to travel as much reducing the pressure on the cup right?

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it’s rtr on one side and M2C on the other. It’s a little short, but honestly I don’t think the new cups work to be honest. In the videos you can hear the crunching sounds, that’s the dog bone outside the cup trying to get back inside as it’s ramping up he jump. Before the axle would just fall out. Now it grinds around until it snaps a side of the cup off. Plus when it’s trying to get back in the cup it seems to bend it.
      I’m still running stock axles. I’ve got a rather large stockpile of parts so I just keep working with what I have on hand for now.

    • @AnthonyBencomo
      @AnthonyBencomo 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@StraitJacketRC ok that sounds about right. My cup broke and I saw chipping on the ends of the other cup. Could prove your theory of it coming out and then going back in correct. And yes, my dog bone bent as well. So great, nitro tubing it is! I’m new at the hobby so I don’t really know where to place the tubing on the shock. Be really grand of you to upload a video!

    Sweet snow ramp!
    Kind of surprised how easily the truck broke. I know plastic parts become brittle in the cold, but for a metal part to fail like that on a relatively soft landing makes me question Arrma quality. 🤔

    • @StraitJacketRC
      @StraitJacketRC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks that second day ramp was looking so prime! Ya, it deff was from the ramp takeoff, not the landing. when you first hit the transition the shocks compress and the axles go outward. Norm with dirt or wood ramps its no biggie but the snow allows the shocks to compress farther due to the soft snow letting the chassis "dig in" as it compresses. it's not normal seeing that much compression so norm it wouldn't want to pop out so much. I've got many Arrma and have lots of vids of me sending them orbital usually all stock or minor upgrades so I deff wouldn't worry about Arrma quality.
