Either way, whether it’s the best cover he’s done or not, holy hell, what on earth…. Just How?!?! That range, the gymnastics, the drops from head to chest and back again, the vibrato, his falsetto is beautiful too. As for speeding up I think it’s at the end of the phrases in order to take a breath as the song is relentless and there’s really no room for full breaths? My only issue with him is obviously the pronunciation of the English language. Other than that Bravo!!!
I would like Gabriel to see this video, you made great comments. That was so long ago, and I'm still waiting for Gabriel to “happen” on the professional music scene.

Thank you for the feedback! I am a little worry that people will think tat I am attacking Gabriel for small mistakes and such, but I just really want him to step up with his channel, he has an incredible potential with such voice and technique!! And also give a strong impression on who he is. he could sing my all in his own language for example (Mariah has recording of My All in Spanish already) and a bit of that gospel, could be a killer! he needs to have his own band. :D

I imagined that I could not resist watching this video, I would like to highlight his courage in not running away from extremely difficult songs, obviously that would help a lot if he spent a little more time with English regardless of that, congratulations on the reaction, even more
Hey, thank you for checking out the video :) He sure has bolls and ability to do these covers, and in original keys... insane guy. Problems with English will go away naturally, but regardless in what language he chooses to sing, it is a pity if he rushes to make a new video and the cost is the loss of quality that it could have been. he has big future.

Yes, I understand the points you mentioned, I only can mention 2 facts into all what you described to put more attention to the facts, only two. Gabriel isn't trying to be popular alone, he knows TH-cam is not the real way to get it. Popularity is not happening absolutely NOT, he is not massive yet, he can't do it alone, he can't get money to make records alone, so.. . He can't get recognition YET. He needs support. Other thing is he sings like with In- house demos, no musicians, no record studio, no nothing, he uses his voice into a karaoke media place, it's a hard fact to see and face up, he lives in a country where is more difficult to go just s little bit better, POVERTY is the TOPIC every minute in South America, and it's HORRENDOUS. I would love to see him like in productions like Dimash, we are far from all this till he can be part in an international competition all payed off. Last thing, he is s man of God, He upload renditions to super and hard-to-sing popular songs, but the 70% of the uploaded stuff are songs to God, the Believers (Not Justin LOL), he has two type of followers, Church ones and Trinity ones, just to put a name to them. He knows he is doing it for LOVE of music, and trying hard to do it in the situation I was trying people can figure out.

Your reaction: All things considered, I agree with you on Gab's enunciation of wording and phrasing at times. I've had difficulty with too many artists to count in not understanding all of their words. In fact, that goes for Mariah in her own rendition of this very song. I think he closed down on "I can't go on..." for effect, but the other examples you give are of relevant consideration. Gab hit perfection on "All By Myself". I believe Gabriel is ready for the next level - a recording deal. That would mean a bit more work to polish things up. I understand he may be currently studying English - a good move on his part. I would never, ever, want him to lose his accenting. That's one of the things that makes him special. The near future and all of this will be a moot point. He's on his way to stardom. Time, and certainly talent, is on his side.

For us, who don't have english as a native language, it's extremely hard to pronounce some words ... Gabriel doesn't speak english, he just reads the lyrics and tries to reproduce it with the sung song, it's really very difficult...
He is a gospel singer, most of the videos are recorded in his church (where the background is black). I strongly recommend that you watch some videos in portuguese, even if you can't understand the lyrics, these are as good as his videos in english :)

Yes I am also not native English speaker and I can really relate with the difficulties of a foreign language. but if it is English or any other language it is very fundamental to know your words, then you can connect to the song on a much deeper emotional level, accent is nowhere near as important and will naturally improve. He is phenomenal. I saw some of his older videos in Portuguese. they are great, he should make an arrangement of My All in Portuguese with an acoustic guitar.

In general your I enjoyed your reaction. However, being fair we must acknowledge that the pairing of the two letters “th” in English and something that happens in very, very, very few languages on the planet Earth. As a native speaker of English I have enjoyed from youth the training of my tongue to pronounce the pairing of these two letters “th” in my speech. Portuguese along with French, Italian, and Spanish are languages of love where most especially this pairing of “th” does not happen. Word such as “the, this, that, there, their, with, path, math, etc… Even counting past 1st, 2nd, 3rd, before we enter into 4th, 5th, 6th, and every number here on has the pair of the “th” happens exclusively. As for your second criticism the word “on” places significant amount of pronunciation on the letter “n”, where Portuguese generally tends to let words fade away. I have yet to find a Portuguese word emphasis ending with the letter “n”; but, I am by no means a conversational speaker of Portuguese. I have gotten somewhat better at reading the language; because, of being Catholic I have experience reading, and praying in Latin. Portuguese is an ancient language which is more close to Latin than all other languages, and is one of the oldest spoken languages on planet Earth. Also, I actually heard the “n” before Gabriel slid down to the letter “m”; which, I had never noticed, nor does it trouble me one bit. I simply enjoyed Gabriel reaching down into his vocal fry register. Lastly, being American I was able to get past your accent and few mispronunciations with ease. God bless. ✌🏼

excellent reaction and analysis, obviously gabriel has pronunciation and acceleration failures to match the track, something that does not happen when he sings accompanied by guitar or instrumentation and obviously he sings more freely beautifully and powerfully in his native Portuguese language, I think he is making themselves known through these covers. it is undoubtedly recognized that

I think your a bit too harsh on his lyrics cause you can't sustain a note when you say certain constants such as the letter T. Once you say it then the note has to end. Try it yourself and sing tonigghhhtttttttt with the emphasis of sustaining the last letter?. You can't can you without suddenly ending the note. Clearly Gabriel wanted to sustain the end of the note so he had to avoid saying the letter T. That's what I call smart singing and he has it down pat right to the T (pun intended! 😜)

What you say us true and I never said that he has to sing on a consonant, that is indeed not possible, but it is important to close the note at the very end (with a T in this case). Right? I also am not intending to offend Gabriel in any way, but to point out this clear example as it could be useful for some viewers. It is very important especially when you sing in a foreign language to extensively learn the words, phonetics and pronunciation, and only then add runs and melisma on top. Quality priority :)

I think the problem is his pronunciation. Some words are more difficult to pronounce and in a song it's even more difficult.
The meaning of the lyrics is easier to know.
I loved your reaction, it is important to have a professional and technical opinion, but I believe that Gabriel is improving every day, and that with time he will solve these problems with the language.

I totally agree with everything that you said, that's also what "annoys" me with him...because his voice and technique are just insane, but what you point at is definitely what prevents him (imo) from being produced to date. Too many mannerisms to me, he doesn't make the song his own, doesn't respect the pace of the song, and most importantly, he doesn't understand what he sings and doesn't bring much emotion as he's only focused on the vocal performance. Gabriel is a true rough diamond that needs to be polished. With a good team around him, he could get rid of all these details and become a big star with such a perfect technique and outstanding voice/range.
I think you will be more than surprised
