i'm not hearing this at all. Of course this can't compare to a work that was properly mixed. "robotic" sounding is usually due to EQ, unless you can hear the pitch shifting from the autotune, and that is definitely not happening in this video.

Loved this entire performance. Can't have been very nice for them playing straight into the sun, but great atmosphere for the audience! Such a pity a lot of people were deserting second stage when they were playing Pull Me Under to find a good spot to watch Metallica.
yea, i just learned it myself and its just weird fingering for the sound that he wants to get so its kinda like when dragonforce messes up, not their fault it sounds great but not easy to imitate the sound live
The funny thing is (at least for me) it's actually one of his easier solos. There's only one sweep and it's very natural and easy to play for me and I'm nowhere near Petrucci's level and the fast fingering patterns are quite easy. Even funnier, the easiest part (again, for me) of the solo is the part at 5:26, which is the part that he REALLY messed up.
If I was the camera man I would have just held the camera in front of Jordan for the whole song. Wtf. There is so much going on with the keys and they don't even show him.
I've got a glaring question that I believe has also been eating at every drummer's mind..........since Portnoy's return........do you think he'll be able to pull of this song.........Live........playing MANGINI's parts..........just wondering.........that's all
