Hello, I know this video’s a year old but I have one question in relation to battery life. Comparing the GA100 that my friend recently brought to the GA420 that I’m looking to purchase in the near future. How is the battery compared between the two cameras? Does the GA420 have a longer battery life than the GA100 or do they both have the same one battery usage? Thank you.
It's ok, I read further down on your comments and replies, and found out EIS negates the option for distortion correction. One on at a time. Great review though, and I'm impressed so far with the camera, build & performance. Keep your fantastic reviews coming buddy. 🤜🤛

Hello sir, I collected today this camera and tommorow I fly on holidays, can you help me with setting use on the beach and sunny day’s? Also of diving, with quality is the best of this camera 1080/2.7 30k/60k, 4K 30/40k??? Please help I don’t have time to test
I would set the EV (exposure compensation) to -1, turn the distortion compensation ON and shoot at 2.7K 30fps. Even though that camera is waterproof I recommend using the housing while snorkelling/diving.
@@TheOneCanoe I mean specific card parameters. If chosen incorrectly, it will not work properly. And I won't buy 5 different ones and only 1 of them will work 😏
The manual states: “we recommend you use high quality U3 TF Card (32-128GB) for the best results. Please format the TF card on the camera before using and restart the camera after formatting.”
@@gundalf9348 The reviews for these action cameras feature scenes recorded at all resolutions.. 720, 1080, 2.7k and 4K, but most of the actual production (intro, extro, unboxing, bridges, wi-fi remote, menu selection etc.) are recorded with a non-action camera such as a DSLR @ 1080 resolution, hence the rendering and uploading in HD. And yes, I agree that to see a 4K image uploaded at 4K would be ideal but with so many resolutions at play it just doesn't make sense...and to be fair, a good 4K image rendered at 1080, definitely looks better and sharper than the same image recorded at 1080, so in a comparison you can see the difference.
Sorry I did not do a low light test. Unfortunately, a lot of these lower priced action cameras perform very poorly in low light situations by automatically boosting the gain and adding unwanted grain to the image.
question does it film in secions off 10 minutes our does it film continues for as long you intend too??? I'm looking for one hue does continue Filming for TH-cam content
Beautiful video. I have not seen any better from more expensive cameras. I think I will try this camera. Thank you. I did hit the subscribe button and the like button.
Thanks for checking out my review and thanks for subscribing. This is actually a very good performing camera with lots of good useable features considering the price.
Very useful review thanks - I’ll be buying 420 in a few weeks. Has anyone used this camera to record running? If so, any advice re a decent chest harness?
Very good and detailed review, thank you👌👍I just bought one for the holiday etc. Will use it for additional footage next to my drone. Liked & Subscribed. Greetings from 🇳🇱
Please the remote control works from the box or you need to do some settings change? Whats the communication with the remote, Bluetooth or wifi? Is there anything written on the remote? Like serial number or so. Im asking because I got it without the remote, need to buy it separately and Im wondering if any kind 2.4ghz remote will work. Thanks for the info.
The remote is very simple, just 2 buttons. One for video, one for photos. There is nothing to set up just click the remote and it should work. The remote contains a small button battery. Sometimes I have received these remotes with dead batteries. I believe the wireless just uses radio waves and not bluetooth or wifi.
Hi. Great video, very informative. I actually bought the camera after looking at the couple of reviews on here. I have a question. Mine doesn't have EIS. It has everything else. Have you any idea why not? I'm surprised with this.
You can not use EIS (anti shake) and the disortion correction at the same time. Just one of it. Disable disortion correction, then you can enable anti shake.
Yes! This camera will run for an extended period of time while plugged into a charger or a powerbank, allowing you to shoot an all-day time lapse sequence.
How long is the battery life? How rugged is it? Would it survive a couple of drops and some direct hits from football and stray bunker and pitch shots around a green in golf?
The battery will last about 90 minutes. This camera is pretty rugged as it has a metal frame, but I don't think it's rugged enough to take direct hits from stray footballs or golf balls. I would definitely mount it in the underwater housing during those events for extra protection.
I have a question I bought the camera 1 week ago and tested it. But I saw some diffrences between the shown features. First of all in the settings: everithng is yellow that is red in your video. Second When you watch on the normal screen on the right site there is no 4k and a hand. If you dont know what I mean 7.41 in your video. I ordered my Kamera from Amazon and I dont got the remote control in my box. I also made sure I ordered the ga420 and not another camera. Is that a new version of the ga420? And a very good review. LG Niklas
They might have updated the user interface on that camera since I did my review, but it should definitely have a setting for 4K video, and the Amazon site clearly states that this camera comes with a remote. If I were you I'd return it to Amazon and request a replacement.
It has 4k thats not the Problem it was on the camera. I wrote to Amazon and i got 15€ to my Bank Account back. So I payed only 90 for the camera. (I bought the camera on prime day for 105€ )
That's a hard one. Both the XTU S3 and the WOLFANG GA420 have similar specifications and price points...but I think I'd have to say the GA420 delivered slightly better video images in my opinion,
Thanks for all this information. I'm sorry if you answered this and I missed it, but I do have a question: does it use the same batteries as the ga300? As in, are they interchangeable? Not sure if I'll upgrade any time soon, I'm on a tight budget here, it's for sharing my off grid move into the mountains with my dogs, for friends and family to get occasional updates. I definitely won't make the money back, so I must really consider my expenses, and most of my money is for much higher priorities. I got the ga300 for it's low price as a real luxury item and a test, and I'm quite satisfied, I did not expect to have so much fun with it, hence why I'm considering MAYBE upgrading, especially if this ga300 model would eventually wear out.
I agree. I think nearly all these lower priced action cameras all interpolate the data to come up with the “60 fps”. Also, unless yo need to do slow motion in post production, there really is no need to shoot anything at 60 fps.
Thanks for the review 👍 A used Gopro Hero 7 is in the same price range as this, should I consider buy that or have the benefits of returning the Wolfang incase either one of them stops working after 6 months?!
That's a tough one. GoPro makes great cameras, but you have to wonder what condition a used camera is in. Also, this Wolfgang camera has a front view screen, a feature not found in the GoPro Hero 7.
Honestly, your review was excellent! I just bought one for my TH-cam Channel. I record car restoration stuff, what setting would you recommend? seems a bit overkill to record in 4k 60, would it be better to go in the middle at 2.7 30? i tend to upload at 1080, any benefit to recording at a higher res than that? Kindest regards! Subbed!
The only benefit I see to recording anything at 60fps, is if you want to slow the image down in post production. And besides, these lower priced cameras tend to 'soften' the image when shooting at 60fps, so I say "stick with 30fps" As for the resolution, I like to shoot at 4K, but edit and render in 1080, that gives me much more flexibility if I need to crop or add movement to the image.
You can continuous record for about an hour and a half, but for all day recording plug the camera into a power bank like the kind you use to charge a phone.
I think your assumptions are correct. I find a lot of these action cameras are manufactured by one company , then re-branded and sold by other companies.
I have the GA 10 but it records 5 minute files instead of one big file which is useless really, reading the manual I can't find a solution for this either.
It is located in the 'sub-menu' (in the main menu, click the gear icon on the right) Scroll down until you see it. It should be located between the 'Effect' and the 'Diving Mode' selecdtions.
Hello, are you on about the fisheye view thing he said in the video,, if you have an updated camera then I think its now under Angle in the menu,,, (wide medium narrow), as you see he loses some of the width of the frame👍also if I'm wrong did you find it?
Hello. Thanks for the review...really helpful. I've just bought this Camera and took it out last night to have a go at recording video. When playing back through the Camera, I couldn't hear any sound. Are you able to hear back what you have filmed? Also, when using the front screen when filming, it kept going blank. Is there any way of keeping the screen permanently on when filming? Hope you can help. Thanks.
I really like your reviews, thanks. Can you tell me, is it possible to run EIS and distortion correction together, and is there any option for a narrower field of view than 170°? Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately you cannot use the EIS and the Distortion Correction at the same time. And no, there are no other field-of-view settings on this lens - only the ultra wide.
@@TheOneCanoe If it`s true, than that is almost a 360 camera, but judging by your videos, it`s not the case. Lets compare it to other action cameras. At this time GoPro Hero 11 black has one of the widest FOV. Using max full frame mode it has 113 deg. horizontal field of view (122 without stabilization) and it looks wider than GA420, but maybe I`m wrong and it`s much wider than GoPro.
I bought the Wolfgang 420, and I am having a problem With it already . First , it does not connect well to the internet which makes is very hard to rely on downloading the content . 2- I tried to record on a sunny area the picture is blur and very bright which does not make the recording well at all it’s like it has a film over it ( yes I removed the plastic cover ) . Still the recording is not nice and crisp , it does not have a good light as justement in the sun . You have to be in the shade and film the content in the shade if you turn it to a sunny area the cam can not cope with the brightness. 3- it does not also cope very well with dark area or lack of light , I filmed it with 4K 30fs. Any advise on how to compensate this lighting problem ? Thank you
Orbit, Sorry to see you are having so much difficulty with your action camera. Here are a few suggestions...Sometimes the wi-fi app does not connect for me either, so I find if I power down my iphone then re-boot, it usually always makes the connection...Also there is a newer version of the app called iSmartDV2 which is what I find works best for me. As for exposure, almost every camera I have ever used (including high-end cameras) tend to over-expose...luckily this camera has an exposure compensation setting labeled 'EV'. I suggest yo go to that setting and select -1, or -2 when shooting in bright sunlight and make sure the ISO is left on Auto and has not been accidentally set to a high value such as 1600. As for low light...unfortunately a lot of these lower priced action cameras do not perform very well in low light conditions, often adding noisy grain when the auto ISO is boosted. I use a smell video light to 'fill-in' when shooting in evening or night conditions. Hope that helps.
@@TheOneCanoe thank you so Much for taking time to reply I really appreciate that , I think I started to get the tuning of the lighting right , it’s much better . The one more question I would like to ask and confirm is that when I record and then re-play ,,, on the Cam it’s self I noticed that it has no voice i tried to tune the volume and the voice recording but the recording goes all silent even though I am talking . The only time I can hear my voice on a recording is when I download the video to my iPhone then I can adjust the volume and hear the recording ,,, is that a defected mic ? Or is it the way it is designed ? Thank you again
@@orbit3226 You are correct, the audio (when playing back in the camera) is very low and there is no volume control. You can hear it, but you have to put the tiny speaker (above the USB/HDMI door) right up to your ear.
Bought this one on november 21 at a 100 euros, for Christmas. I used it on july, the second time snorkeling water spill in and camera dies. Not feel good at all.
I know your frustration. I too, have had so-called waterproof cameras leak on me while submerged. It’s fine for splashes or getting caught in the rain or snowfall, but for underwater I tend to just go with the included underwater housing to be safe.
Question about the distortion correction: is there any case where leaving it distorted (so disabled) is better? Or is it always best to just habe it enabled to correct this distortion?
Personally, I always enable distortion correction and just leave it set on. But it really comes down to personal opinion, as some people like the fisheye effect produced without distortion correction. Also if you are in a tight space and require the widest lens possible leave the distortion correction turned off.
How easy was it to upload the film and photos to your computer for editing? Is it a simple plug and load or do you need other software for it? Is it an easy transfer process? Thanks.
Very easy. Just take the MicroSD card out of the camera and plug it into your computer’s SD card slot. A little window will appear asking if you want to “ view files and photos” … click on that and a folder opens revealing all your photo/video files. You can view them or drag and drop them into a folder on your computer for later editing.
I'm curious to know.... What size is the USB plug on the external microphone? Is it USB C or MicroUSB? I have a wireless microphone with a USB C receiver and am trying to find out if it will work with the GA420. I can't find any clear images online, and the documentation in amazon listings doesn't clearly say.
How do you activate voice record? I can't find any information on the manual. Does this function allow you to start/stop video recording with a voice command? If so, do you know what that command is?
No, unfortunately this camera does not have any Voice Command function. There is a setting in the menu labeled 'Voice Record', but this only turns the audio recording on or off. I think that label got lost in translation somewhere along the way!
Would you recommend this one over the izeeker ia800? Or what action cam for $150 or less would you recommend?Sound is not really an issue for me, though good sound is always a bonus. I am mostly using for scuba diving videos and still pictures. Currently have an apeman trawo (a100) and love it but the waterproof case broke and they don't sell just a waterproof case for it and manufacturer won't send me one.
Yes, I prefer the Wolfgang GA420 over the iZEEKER iA800 for three reasons. 1, the Wolfgang has much better sound quality due to it’s plug in microphone. 2,the image quality in low light is better ( the iZEEKER tends to show much more grain in medium to low light settings) and 3, the Wolfgang has a 1/4 inch tripod socket that makes it much simpler to attach to tripods, monopods and selfie sticks.
Just received mine this morning bought on Amazon Prime day for £54. so far so good , then find they dont include a charger ? 2 batteries , a charging cable but no charger, , first camera i have EVER bought and there have been Dozens, that didnt comw with a charger. Cust cotting seems riduculous, charger with 3 batteries is on sale for £17, so how much did the charger alone cost ? pennies ! Apart from that it looks a great buy, especially at almost half price. I have one question does anyone know if there are filters which fit ? loads for go pro but with that square fitting, so maybe they fit over the housing ? any thoughts ?
Can you record while charging ? if you have the microphone connecting to the camera ,camera out side the car driving ,and the microphone cable inside the car will not record wind noise is that correct? thanks
Yes, this camera will record while charging (or while plugged into a power bank). When you plug a microphone in you select 'external microphone' in the menu and that records ONLY the external microphone, so yes this will record only your voice and not the outside wind noise...But keep in mind this microphone cable uses a USB input so you cannot use the microphone at the same time as charging the camera.
There does not appear to be a function on this camera that allows you to take a photo while recording video. You’d have to grab a still frame later in editing to get a photo.
I have the Wolfang GA420 too. Got it last year on January. I did paid below 100 Euro back then. I think for the price the camera is decent. Sadly it's fake 4k 60fps. Maybe Wolfang did update the newer models. But on mine the 4k/60 looks really really bad. But 4k 30pfs and 2.7k looking pretty good. Special compared for the price. A nice first action camera for example for your kids or so. Compared with the footage of an Action 2 for example the video footage of the Wolfang GA420 really don't look good anymore. But after youtube compression and without any side by side footage to compare, i think the cam is good
Overall the Wolfang GA420 produces really great looking video at 30fps. In my opinion, 4K @ 60fps (or any resolution @ 60fps)is a bit of a gimmick. I mean, the human eye can't really see the difference between 30 and 60 fps. So unless you plan on using slow motion in post production there really is no need to shoot at 60.
Good review but ... people forget that it is an 'action cam' . which means using on skis boats motorcycles etc. Not a single mention about 'wind noise' . Ive bought many video cameras based on great reviews, then have to throw them away because of unstoppable wind noise. So with this review, same again, I am none the wiser, shame.... GoPro have no wind noise 'zero' but a little too expensive as I am not too fussed about quality.
Thanks for the input. This camera does have a function labeled “Wind Noise Reduction”, but I never actually tested it, however you make a good point and I’ll try to do those kinds of tests in future reviews.
We’ll, considering there are only about 5 or 6 shots in that whole review that were recorded at 4K, it makes perfect sense to edit and upload at 1080-30.
The wolfang ga420 is awesome, I think I know why the audio was at a low level, wind reduction was on
Yes I noticed that too on mine that if you have wind reduction on it just kind of muffles all sound
@Cycling-n-Stuff ya, and when wind reduction is off, the audio would be better

I have just bought one of these and find that the only way i get it to turn on is when i plug in the power supply, once it is in, I can take the power lead out and it stays on, so I know the battery has been charged enough.
I think I am going to return it
Something wrong there. I would definitely return it.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to purchasing an action camera for shooting similar videos that are on your channel. Thank you for showcasing the potential of these different cameras.

İs there a gps integrated ? İf you take a photo, is the location info also saved in the photo ?
No, not that I am aware of.
Great review, one question, what range do you get on the remote and mobile control? Thanks
The included remote works about 40-50 feet from the camera. Sorry I never did test the range of the wi-fi app.
@@TheOneCanoe thanks bro for your help, I have another question what memory card you recommend?
@@elomelokabanero6618any name brand card should work. I prefer Samsung or Lexar.
Good job of presentation 😊 A hello from France 👍🏻
Thank you...and thanks for watching from France!
May I ask, there’s a little static noise play in the background 11:39
I believe what you are hearing is wind noise, not static.
Which memory card should I choose for my camera? The manufacturer does not provide much information about this on the website...
I’ve had good results using both Samsung and Lexar memory cards in Wolfang action cameras.
HD review for 4k camera? OMG!
Sure, especially when you consider that 90% of the review is recorder @1080, it makes perfect sense to render and upload in HD.
@@TheOneCanoe and how do you help people to see image quality (the most important factor) by recording only HD with a 4k camera?
Hello how much
on Amazon about $98
Thank you but I wish you tested it in night mode / low light
Sorry I did not do a low light test. Unfortunately, a lot of these lower priced action cameras perform very poorly in low light situations by automatically boosting the gain and adding unwanted grain to the image.
excellent video. Gave us the info we needed .

Thanks for checking out my review and thanks for subscribing. This is actually a very good performing camera with lots of good useable features considering the price.

I have good luck with Lexar and Samsung micro SD cards.

Brilliant mate. Great review. Can you upload your vids and pics to Facebook once they are on your phone or do you have to upload to PC? Many thanks.
Yes, once your photos and videos are on your phone you can share them any way you like such as Facebook.
Best review I've seen so far!! Just ordered it 🙂
Thank you. Hope you enjoy your new camera.
Greetings from 🇳🇱
Thanks. Yes, considering the price and all the features on this camera you really can't go wrong.
Excellent review. Thank you. I bought one
Thanks for checking out my review. I hope your camera works out well for you.
Well done, good job! Excellent review!!! Two thumbs up!!!
Thanks!
Are you sure there is no EIS listed in the menu? As "Pixelpanscher" indicated, the EIS only works when the Distortion Calibration is turned off.
@@Pixelpanscher hugely helpful, thank you
Hi, thank you very much for the great review! Is it possible to use the camera while charging for long time-lapse videos?
Yes! This camera will run for an extended period of time while plugged into a charger or a powerbank, allowing you to shoot an all-day time lapse sequence.
@@TheOneCanoe That's awesome! Thanks!
Perfect review! Thanks a lot... 👍
...and thank you for checking out my review.
Great job. All reviews should be done this way. Just one more thing. How is the low light performance?
Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately I did not do any specific low light tests.
@@TheOneCanoe That USB door can be easily broken. My broke after a few use. Had to return it and get my money back. Otherwise, this is a good camera.
I'm going buy this I am from Malaysia, order it from Amazon I will do unboxing and testing soon thanks for the update
I hope you enjoy it. It’s a great little camera with lots of useful features.
I can't get Bluetooth because of some kave error with smart dv2!!!! I use pixel 7 phone.
(I bought the camera on prime day for 105€ )
nice review ! I have also seen you review of the XTU S3 ( pro ) which one is the best ? I have a Surfola SF530/ Wolfang GA 200 ?
That's a hard one. Both the XTU S3 and the WOLFANG GA420 have similar specifications and price points...but I think I'd have to say the GA420 delivered slightly better video images in my opinion,
@@TheOneCanoe Thanks ! 👌
Sorry, but I have not used the GA300, so not really sure about it's battery size. I do know that the GA400 and the GA420 use the same battery.
th-cam.com/video/21z6z1E_gcg/w-d-xo.html
Top notch video! Well done.
Thanks!
It’s not really a 4K 60fps, you can tell ,
I don’t know why they advertise something that is not on the camera
@@TheOneCanoe thx for the reply 😁
@@TheOneCanoe appreciate your time taken to respond. That seems like a good option, il give it a try!
Great review,
is it possible to seperate internal/external mic. Only use external, and shut down internal mic
per-erik johansson
Yes, you have to select and turn ‘on’ the external mic. in the menu. That disabled the built-in camera mic.
How long does the battery last on constant record ! I want to leave it in a tunnel and see what crawls through .?
You can continuous record for about an hour and a half, but for all day recording plug the camera into a power bank like the kind you use to charge a phone.
Same camera as the Akaso Brave 7 LE except this is 4k60 where the Akaso is 4k 30,looks like the same company makes them for others
I think your assumptions are correct. I find a lot of these action cameras are manufactured by one company , then re-branded and sold by other companies.
@@TheOneCanoeI also agree too
I have the GA 10 but it records 5 minute files instead of one big file which is useless really, reading the manual I can't find a solution for this either.
I just bought this camera and i dont seem to have distortion calibration. At least i cant fin it.
It is located in the 'sub-menu' (in the main menu, click the gear icon on the right) Scroll down until you see it. It should be located between the 'Effect' and the 'Diving Mode' selecdtions.

Do you know what`s the actual field of view of this camera?
@@cdjxwubcyex In the manual it says 170 degrees.
@@cdjxwubcyex I agree this lens is much narrower than 170, probably closer to about 100-110. Perhaps something got lost in translation???
I bought the Wolfgang 420, and I am having a problem
With it already .
@@TheOneCanoe thank you so
Much for taking time to reply I really appreciate that , I think I started to get the tuning of the lighting right , it’s much better .

@@TheOneCanoe now I know, but if they are sold up 8 or 10 m underwater.. it's a scam

@@TheOneCanoe thanks for the quick reply. Another question sorry. Is it compatible with a Mac or is it just Windows focused?
what’s the name of the app?
The app is called… iSmart DV2
I'm curious to know.... What size is the USB plug on the external microphone? Is it USB C or MicroUSB? I have a wireless microphone with a USB C receiver and am trying to find out if it will work with the GA420. I can't find any clear images online, and the documentation in amazon listings doesn't clearly say.
The microphone input on the Wolfang GA420 utilizes the USB Micro connection.
Good review my friend 👍👍
Thank u you for the kind words.
@@TheOneCanoe Many thanks for that
Nice review, does anybody know if I can take photo whilst it's recording video or is it only 1 or the other...
Thanks. You do excellent reviews. I Am subscribed. Blessings, and Respect.......Joshua Seven Thunders///////
Thanks for the copmliment, and thanks for subscribing!
This is video quality not good
We’ll… it’s definitely no GoPro or DJI, but for the price it’s a pretty capable camera.
Seriously dude? You do a review on a 4 k 60p camera and upload in 1080 30P? Can't you think of a slower way to destroy your credibility?
We’ll, considering there are only about 5 or 6 shots in that whole review that were recorded at 4K, it makes perfect sense to edit and upload at 1080-30.
I’m not rich to buy a cheap stuff !
Great review, thank you!
