@DJFozter These guys are excellent ...tuneful , good intonation, imaginative without destroying the music, good use of ornaments , harmony ...and prepared to experiment somewhat.
Beautiful song. Also this may be weird but some guy named Jake in 2016 introduced me to it and we lost touch. So if this comment happens to find him I’d love to chat again haha.
The Hardingfele has many tunings. The most widely used is ADAE (from the bottom string), which is often transposed much higher (BEBF# and CFCG are common). Caoimhin's fiddle is tuned AEAE and is transposed and sounds BF#BF# (this tuning is not uncommon in Norway). I've never heard Irish music played on a Hardingfele, but I think it sounds wonderful here.
Hardanger fiddles are NORWEGIAN. I've met Caoimhín, and he's very interested in a lot of Norwegian fiddle music, hence his getting a Hardanger fiddle for himself. He says that he likes to play it along with the whistle due to its very bright tone.
I believe it's a slip jig called "The Foxhunters." It might sound different than the versions you find because Mick is playing it on a flat set of pipes here (B, I think?). Good luck.
One of the most iconic tracks of Irish music ever. Yay!
Excellent! Thanks for posting.
This is absolutely wonderful! Love it! Thank you!
wowwwwwwwwwww just love this music
Perfect. Just perfect.

That's one flat topped bridge Caoimhin is using on that beautiful Hardanger Fiddle!

Thank you! Good to know.
Draoicht amach is amach. Like a hive of bees buzzing in tune. Magic.
Wow, that was fantastic. The name of the 2nd tune doesn't come up on the screen, but it's the Humours Of Derrycrossane.

Watch the vid and you'll see the name come up on the screen.
Níos fearr ná go h-íontach! Beidh sé seo á sheinm sna flaithis nuair a imíom. Tá usáid an Hardanger fiddle leis na píobaí uillinn dochreidthe álainn.
This one gets 10 stars.
Bb vs C any views on tone colouring / tune modes/ timbre / melodic contrasts? ....
divine
Why do I have to switch my earbuds Left-to-right and right-to-left to hear a proper pan. Sound engineer fail. Otherwise: Magnificent!
Top Pipemakers. Micks are Froment/Rowsome
Alain Froment
Geoff Woeff
Cillian O'Briain
Benedict Koehler & Dave Quinn

Looks like a Hardanger fiddle. I think they are Swedish in origin.

Actually, its a Norse instrument, but you were pretty close.
