Jeff is a cool guy, I had the pleasure of meeting him both at the Yamaha booth and at the Legere jam where we both performed.

Yeah. The Horn was fine thankfully.
I am waiting for the top secret brand new redesigned tenor they are calling the Artelier model. I tried a prototype a year ago and loved it!

I’m currently playing the 50th Anniversary Custom Z with a dark bronze finish. The new 82 Custom Z Artelier Special is the best tenor I’ve ever owned! It came out after this video was made. Now I’m waiting for them to make the alto version.

I would have picked the 82 E1 in either black or silver as well.
I preferred the tone of 82.
After playing the alto for three years in junior high school and putting it down for forty-three years, I have decided to give it another go.
Just ordered a YAS-480 Intermediate Alto in Eb.
Don't figure that I will quite need anything from the pro series lineup just yet but it is nice to see but more importantly, it's a real treat to be able to hear what is out there even though I was five years late to this party thread. 😊

Anything with the v1 neck sounds great.

Sam Donta I went to a music store a couple day ago and tried it with regular lacquered and I can tell you that it gave me the fastest response when I blew into it

Yeah i love dat sound. I prefer Yamaha over modern selmer. My favorite tenor is the selmer Sba and the 62 Yamaha old. I like the 62 better than the selmer six.

That unlacquered Woodstone had a cool vibe as well as the silver tenor with the silver V1 neck.
The silver alto Z-II with the silver V1 neck was alive!
Please update and let us know why you selected.
Thanks for sharing this adventure. I really enjoy your playing. Please keep posting.

I liked the 875 with the e1 neck. I thought the sound was more open. The voice sounded cleaner. My second pick would have been the 82Z with the v1 neck. All the horns sounded good though.

It's very strange , because on this video difference between necks is very small. For me , every sax and necks sound equally.

I hope the horn was ok after being thrown from the conveyer belt onto the trailer, fragile stickers on instrument cases mean nothing to baggage handlers:(

Dear Yamaha, can you pack and send me a non-lacquered with an E1 gold plated neck, please? Does it come with Jeff Kashiwa included? :)
BTW, +Jeff Kashiwa, which one did you get?

The sax. One of the most popular and loved brass instruments. But it IS a loud instrument. NO way around that. Hard to find a place to practice. Need VERY understanding neighbours. :) I live in a condo. :) A sax player had to go to the park. :) Not often either....might have gotten some complaints even there as the park is flanked by ocndo units. So if he can't prcatice in his condo unit or anywhere in the condo (as no condo wall floor is sound "suppressed") where does he go (or she)?? Practice only the sax shop's "practice rooms" if they have them befor ethe lessons and before the lessons??
Lukily there are these portable "recording studio rooms" one called "The Whisper Room" (different sizes) THe smallest one you could put in a "decent sized" condo unit :)) And not bother anyone. ....which kind of makes the Hybrid Piano's one of the most "suitable" instruments for the home....can put on a pair of headphones and go "silent"...I digress... :)
Do love the Custom Z....also the Yanagisawa's WO series....Ymaha has the largest customer care/dealer network....easier to find Yamaha certified technicians ....VS Yahagisawa you usually would hae to see some guy that servies different brands and HOPE he's good at h is job...
Are you still a Yamahja man? :)

They all sounded like saxophones and all the different finishes seems pointless .
