    I grew these for the first time in 2021. Couldn't stop eating them and there were a ton! It did take a long time for them to turn dark orange.

      Seriously! They were super tasty. I’m looking forward to growing them again this year. The frost came before most of them were ripe unfortunately. I may try starting them a little earlier!

    Great to learn about this variety. I picked one up from the nursery last year, and only got one fruit! I moved the pot inside for the winter, and I’m looking forward to moving the established bush outside this summer. I thought it was supposed to be hot! I will enjoy this one, my son can have the scorpion fruits!!!

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you'll see a lot more fruit production this year! That was smart of you to overwinter the plant inside to get a faster start to the season. I need to try that! Those scorpion peppers can be fun and enjoyable in small quantities but these milder peppers are much more useful! Enjoy!

      @@inchwormgardens I love the flavor of regular Habaneros. that sweet Citrusy Floral Flavor Hiding behind the intense heat. But saying that These Habaneda would make a killer Hot Sauce if you augmented them with a spicier pepper. ( All the flavor of a Habanero Sauce without the mouth searing heat..)

    Wow, your plant is so productive.
    What's your fertilizer routine during the fruiting ?

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I kept in a good routine of a water soluble fertilizer every two weeks until about June and then..... I just kinda stopped 😬 I was planning to keep fertilizing through the fruiting stage but I never did! I did apply a slow release fertilizer at planting time so maybe that is carrying me through 😅

    I'm behind behind in viewing my fav TH-cams ;) (Your Channel!!) I love the additional info provided on these peppers. Jay loves really spicy ones and I'd like to have a large potted one. What would you recommend for relatively simple to grow and spicy good!?

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! So nice to hear from you :) This one is delicious but lacking in the spice department. One of my favorites has been the "Sugar Rush Peach" pepper. Great flavor and good amount of spice without being too much. I'll be growing several new spicy peppers next year so I'll have some more recommendations then :)

    2:52 I would be so pissed right here if it was still hot. I grew Nadapenas last year and they were good, but I realized I could live with jalepano heat. This might be the nadapepper I need.

    How long does it take for the seeds of Habanada to germinate?

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It takes about a week for them to germinate. Mine sprouted a little earlier than that because I kept a heat mat under them. They like it nice and warm! Between 70-80 degrees. Good luck!

    I've got four habanada plants going right now, and all four have their leaves curling upwards. I've seen different and contradictory answers as to why pepper plants do that. I believe the habanada wants a lot of heat, but the one plant started curling once I gave it a lot more heat, so I'm confused. Any idea why the leaves would be curling on the habanada, and not any of my other pepper varities?
    Thanks!

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jon! That's really interesting that only the 4 Habanadas are having that issue. Maybe it's a genetic thing? I really don't know to be honest. I found this article which will hopefully help in your quest. Good luck! peppergeek.com/pepper-plant-leaves-curling/

    • @mintpaintome
      @mintpaintome ปีที่แล้ว

      I have this exact same issue, I'm growing fresnos, hawks claw, portugese peppers and habanadas but only the habanadas are growing slowly with their leaves curled upwards. Makes me wonder if this variety is more needy than the others in some way, would love to know if you figured something out

    • @inchwormgardens

      Hello! Once the fruit is fully mature then you can simply cut it open, pull out the seeds and leave them on a paper towel to dry for a couple weeks. Then they should be good to go!
