I don't get why so many people insist that you must spend an extra $100+ on the lamp+housing (other than that's what the manufacturers would prefer you to do). Obviously you should wear gloves.
Depending on the manufacturer, the wires could be soldered. At least Panasonic projectors are or were (not making consumer projectors anymore) like this
After the lamp replacement, I forgot to reset the counter. And now the bulb is not lightening up when the projector is turned on. This is because of the projector is acting on the lamp hours counter since the warning came to replace the lamp. Is there another way to reset the counter?

Is it that easy on a benq w1070 lamp aswell. And as long as dont finger on the front of the lamp its all fine right? Some store told me that fingering on the lamp was realy bad and that thy say its best to buy everything to not compromise the lamp. Ty for help.
Every projector is different, but the steps are always the same. BenQ projectors are known for having easy installation. It is best not to touch the glass surface of the lamp, to avoid getting grease, oil, and dust on the lamp.

LOL 300$ for a lamp from their site... yup, HUGE savings : / Folks, go buy a new laser hybrid rated 15-20,000 hrs and get rid of that old lamp driven garbage projector! You can even do a DIY convert to LED, dont waste money on obsolete junk.
PhoenixAsh I think we're thinking of different bulbs. What you need to do is multiply the price by 3, then you get the price in your country. For example a €30 bulb in chine would cost €90 here in Sweden. Import, VAT, profit margins etc...

something this video left out.... wear latex gloves when handling any glass on the lamp, the oils from your fingers will shorten the life of the lamp.

unfortunately they are different kinds of lamps. They will not work with each other. The beamer uses a mercury vapor arc lamp.

I'm not sure, but this lamp is a xenon bulb, same of photographyc flash, with positive and negative polarities.
