HARVE, I FOLLOWED FRANK FROM 1946 TILL HE DIED. I SEEN HIM PLAY AT THE AIR FORCE NCO CLUB IN WITCHITA FALLS, TEXAS 1951 AND 2 WEEKS LATER I SEEN HIM IN THE MANOR CLUB IN BEAVER FALLS PENNA. HE SAID "YOU GET AROUND MORE THAN I DO" GREAT MUSIC AND THE OLD ONES BRING BACK MEMORIES. ALOT OF MY POLKA BUDDIES HAVE GONE.
Pure talent on that stage. It's so sad that you hardly ever hear this music these days. I left a wedding reception just because no polka music was being played. I am young and it's sad that not most of the people of my generation don't appreciate the music like I do.
Around 1995-96, Frankie toured Canada with Walter Ostanek & Western Senators. So yes he played with the 3 accordions. The polkas shows were just plain awesome. This type of music is sadly lacking today. People should just sit back and relax. Frankie was the KING. mos60
Joe Godina Do you knoiw any more facts about Frankie Yankovic? I knew a man who was a woodshop teacher that would bring his accordian over to my other friends' house, to play music together, My first friend, Vernon Center, was from Arkansas, and grew up playing, would play guitar, bass and organ, and Gene Kreideman would play accordian and occasionally switch to organ. They were good, I loved listening to them. But Gene I think said he used to play with Frankie, but I can't find his name anywhere. I don't know how long, I think it was in the 60's. Gene was from Wisconsin.
whisperingsage, I knew Frank very well, and that is a good possibility that your friend could have played with Frank. Frankie had many different accordion players he used across the country when he came to a certain Town he may have had people he knew that could fill in with him.
whisperingsage I knew Frank and all the musicians quite well. You need to come to our area if you want to dance polka there is always something going on.
Most of the songs are traditional Slovenian folk songs, however, Joey did write some and so did Frank. It was a blast playing with these great musicians.

Yep...I remember when "Yankovic" meant "Frankie", not "Weird Al"!
I could go for one of those ice cold Stroh's that they were serving. And someone please tell that banjo player that he's not Keth Richards.

this is some sort of slovenian country blues.. although it may refer to waltzes too.. lol yooohooooueee!!!
He played the old steelers fight song. I still play it when the steelers play for good luck. HERE WE GO STEELERS!!! HERE WE GO!!!!
Three accordions. First time this has happened? Wonder who the other 2 guys are. They better be good. mos60
Joey Miskulin is the one on the left and I am the one on the right.
I imagine that Joey wrote most of the tunes, right? He's an amazing player, with Frankie and yourself. Must have been fun with that group. mos60
