Just saw this, if you’re building back from scratch, why not just notch it on a table saw? That is a giant rabbit for sure, smart from an engineering standpoint though
Run the router along the top of the wall and set the depth of cut to 7/8" and use the bearing the cuts to 1/2" or 5/8" depth, whichever you need.
Watch part III and you can see what we came up with. Running the router along the top of the wall is a bit too iffy.
Why not use a circular saw? Its a little more difficult, but it'll work. And cheaper.

Wow. In less than two years, the price of this bit has gone from $58 to $68? What's with the extreme price hike, Whiteside? Dang.
