There used to be one of these rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in the early 1970s. It was probably an earlier model. As far as I recall, the 'jet' fuselage was more simplistic and the controls consisted of a joystick rather than a yolk....but it was a long time ago, so I might be mistaken. However, they were just as much fun!
Having seen this brings back memories of Battersea as I rode this many years ago in its original home & assumed it had been lost forever. Now I know it is alive & well it would be wonderful to experience this all over again after all these years!
+Andrew Smith Hopefully you will get to Margate to ride it again. I also spent a lot of time at Battersea many years ago, it's great to see these rides being refurbished ! :-)
I was at Dreamland on Saturday 18th July for the celebrations to mark the 1st Anniversary of the reopening of Dreamland.Among other things I Did get to ride the Hurricane jets and the video of this is on my youtube channel. Please subscribe to my channel to see this & the many other things on there.I was indeed also on the famous scenic railway which is also on video which will be on my channel in due course.
this is like a big kid version of those kiddie bi planes you see at carnivals a lot...i wish our fairs and amusement parks here in America had one of these:P Yea of course its no roller coaster or a modern fairground thrill ride bu it still looks fun:) I mean i loved the kiddie version of these when i was young so im sure these were be really cool. another kiddie ride i wish that had a "big kid" version is that demolition derby ride where its little cartoony cars rotate around the platform quickly and look as if they will hit each other but dont and jerk you around. I mean you got bumper cars...but that ride was different and unique.

Wow! Didn't realise these were from Battersea Steve. I rode them there in 1972! Thanks, as always for sharing. Cheers, Simon
