Actually, the agent yelled at her, swore and withheld her documents and credit cards. Her original allegation was "shouting" which changed to "defamation" (allegedly), though it generally all comes under the "offensive behaviour" laws which are open to abuse and manipulation by locals who know how to manipulate the justice system for their financial advantage. Had she stayed any longer, we would have opened a criminal case against the rental agency for "offensive behaviour".
Pay a fine to drop the case? Well isn't that legal in many countries, including the US? 🤔 Probably a different term/system but essentially the same thing? Know the laws before you visit a different country. Not all countries are like the US and allow "entitlement" behaviors. Just a thought.
She paid a fine *after* international media and diplomatic intervention. Had she not left on Tuesday, a new travel ban was to be issued against her on Wednesday morning. The rental car agent was rude, aggressive and swore at her while withholding access to her personal possessions (credit cards, passport etc.). Is that "entitlement" behaviour from them?
Well..1 side of the story? Thank God I watched the news, A few of my girlfriends were talking about going to Dubai to shop, well, they can forget about it, we are going to Hong Kong instead! They have no respect for women!!!
