Sad but true Chris Rock. Sad but true. That is exactly what Mark Twain may have said.

Mark Twain actually strongly opposed racism. Just because an author of fiction uses racist language, in terms of the way a particular character speaks in a work of fiction, doesn't mean that the author is actually racist. Chris Rock's humor is usually on-point, but he took a cheap, inaccurate shot at Mark Twain, who didn't deserve it.

@@christianman73 just like Quentin Tarantino huh? An author can choose many other words or situations to write or choose not to use racist language at all.

@@jenjen3254 Well, Quentin has offered more starring roles to great African-American actors and actresses, such as Samuel Jackson and Pam Grier (he literally wrote a movie for her, "Jackie Brown"), than most other directors, period, Black or white. If using racist language in a fictitious work of art makes the artist racist, then Jackson and Grier would never have chosen to work with Tarantino. They have far too much self-respect, and rightly so, than to work with racist directors. Tarantino is not a racist. Neither was Twain. Sometimes, in a work of fiction, characters are racist, and having them speak as if they *are not* racist is simply not true to how racists actually speak.

@@christianman73 I don't believe I called anyone racist. Shouout to Quentin for "offering" roles to actors. Brilliant!
Another shouout to his scripts and scenes for only certain actors where he and/or other certain actors say the word or it's said in those chosen actor's dialogue. That racist word is being used purposefully and unnecessarily-regardless of the actor.

Richard will always be the greatest and I'm 41 now in 2024 and growing up watching and listening to him was some of the best times of my life.

Wow, that Ruth Brown, ... um... What was that? That was not singing. I don't know what that was, but it wasn't singing. It didn't even seem like a song. The whole time I'm thinking it's some kind of build-up to a song, but the song never happened. WTF? lol
I'll have to take a look and see what she's done and have a listen. But even if her stuff is great, this right here is nothing. Just my humble opinion.
Anyway, Richard Pryor is hands down the greatest comedian ever. There are lots of good ones from his time like George Carlin who was great, Robin Williams one of my favorites, etc. But I still laugh aloud when I watch Pryor. He was the best. You can see all the things that influenced today's comedians, and his acts are timeless.

Hopefully you've checked out Ruth Brown by now...(?) She was a female pioneer of Rock and Roll in the early 1950s, and Atlantic Records should really be known as the label Ruth built.
Seriously, her recordings on Atlantic from 1949 to about 1959 has some of her best singing. She made some great sides for other labels into the 60s, too.

Chris rock is not funny he is just insulting …he didn’t do his research nor really knew what Richard would want to hear ….none of these people were at Richard’s party. Good thing Eddie Murphy had the big respectful party for him ..
