I kinda assumed “rice” was more about people who wanted a fast car but didn’t know how to build one, so they end up mimicking the aesthetics instead of the performance of race cars. Also, there’s more niches for car enthusiast that focus on aesthetics more than building 500hp to 2,000hp capable vehicles. At that point even if you consider a car tacky or non functional, that could very well be the intention behind it.

My car technically would be considered rice in it's current form as it has a 'stock' engine with alot of visual mods, But its a Zokusha/Shakotan build so that's the whole fucking point lol, But once i finish replacing the welch plugs and bed the new HD clutch in and weld the diff and confirm the engine can take it, It'll be getting some power upgrades and be at the track lol.
