- A room tour of my collection of video games including Snes, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Nes, Sega Saturn, Master System, Megadrive, Atari Lynx etc...
I've been collecting for about 6-7 years, I just wanted to share my collection with everyone.

An amazing collection. This is pretty much the idea I have in my head for how I want my collection to be stored once I manage to sort out a room to use. Found this quite inspirational.

Great Collection there, I have started on some collections too, only got about 30 or so consoles and slowly getting games here and there I have a few DreamCast that are still new and sealed etc and some Gamegear games sealed. I have about 90 Xbox360 games that is my largest collection of games. They are all in my dedicated cinema room at the moment while I am working on my dedicated gaming rooms... I have my eye on a few arcade machines too and then get some PCB boards etc.
That's a really great collection you have there, sir. I enjoyed this video. I've just now gotten around to building my retro collection focusing mainly on NES/SNES but with a few other bits here/there. Your vid inspires me to keep going.
Absolutely fantastic collection, I can only ever aspire to have a comparable collection one day. More early wake ups to hit the carboots for me.
Love the way nearly everything is boxed, I think the same way not just value but neat and organized love it well done.

Flea Markets, Garage Sales, Thrift Stores, and Pawn Shops have given results before. I haven't had any luck with any of them, but a lot of other people have. Amazon is good for online if you don't like ebay. There are forums dedicated to collecting retro video games, and some of the bigger ones have their own market's, but I haven't tried them.

What a great collection.
I have most of retro consoles boxed although not got the room to collect loads of games. I have now moved onto the early handhelds and tabletop games by Entex and Grandstand etc
Cheer for the comment, I do use the room as often as I can, play games from my childhood and trying ones that I wanted but never bought as a kid. Its sad but in the last year although I have still bought games I havent had anywhere as much time in there as I wanted, once the cold weather kicks back in I'll get back in there for some proper gaming once more.

I do play, whenever I can to be honest. I work in the gaming industry and it is a massive passion for me, its the whole reason I have the chairs and screen setup in there. cheers

All depends on what your reasons for collecting, I started with the consoles I had as a kid and the games I grew up with, from there you can branch out... just got to be always on the look out for a bargain, I've managed to buy games from the strangest places. Dont leave out the new games though, there is future classics coming out all the time, they will be retro one day. I quite often head out for the day to charity/thrift stores and search them all. There's no real secret, just enjoy it
Brilliant collection mate,thanks for showing us around. Amiga and ST games are a pain in the arse..some of the boxes are SO big. All the best nonetheless!

Awesome collection man, kudos on the boxed stuff, boxed items are so hard to get in good condition. Games sit on the shelf or cartridge comes out to play the game and then put back, how people end up with ripped, damaged or even thrown out boxes I will never know. They are all over ebay and the boxes are just in the worst condition, it's as if they store them in a sewer.

It's nice to see what my game collection could have looked like if I didn't get caught-up in the" buy-sell and trade " scheme.

Like the way you were able to cram all of this in the room. I have a bigger room, but mine is a greater mess, i will definitely take away some tips for reorganisation! great collection too!

Yeah getting there, i'm still getting games but havent concentrated on the Gamecube collection for a while so still 30 odd away, need to get it finished! You are indeed correct on the Ikea shelf front. Cheers for the comment

Still lots out there in the wild which makes them great/cheap systems to buy for from car boot sales etc....

i love how in the beginning he was like my gaming selection is fairly large and then he has a room filled with video games
Videogames is a big market and in the future, all these games will become more rare as the population increases. This is the point of collecting. Everyone has their own collection.
Yeah cheers, I totally agree on the Amiga and ST stuff.... although I have to say they are two of my favourite systems
Do you still get chills when you walk in your game room and cant believe all this is yours and still get excited knowing you own some classic consoles/games; Or are you already use to it and is like no big deal I have it.

The games look really cool all out on the shelves and it makes me wish I'd kept all my games over the years (well I kept them but only the CDs, not the cases or boxes) but I have a lot of books myself and I wouldn't have the space to store all the games I've even owned.
@RetroReedy - An awesome collection which seems to be well organised, curated, and very well presented! I have a similar sized collection, so I know how difficult it is to present everything neatly while also making it aesthetically appealing to look at. Kudos! :)

i always feel that dreamcast psone megadrive and master system collections are the most impressive because of the box sizes
I only collect my most favorite games somewhat like you. I can't see myself ever collecting like this. There is no way I would want to own so much shovel ware just to have a huge collection of games.
Yeah, its actually just an empty promo cube I picked up after an event, they had stacks of them so thought one would look nice in the room. Cheers

@Chipsturs The book shelves are Ikea ones, they are the BESTA range in Black/Brown basically a really dark brown, they do the job really nicely, trouble is you can end up spending a chunk of money just on shelving.... would rather be spending the money on games!! :)

Well, the retro gaming boom didnt really start till around 2-3 years ago so before that point I could go to a car boot sale or charity store and pickup boxes of games for very little. Its surprising how quickly the collection builds although its become a lot harder to find bargains now so I have to hunt more and buy when I can. Ebay is a last resort for me though as the prices are too high.
Amazing collection man, I used to have a pretty large collection, but I sold and am selling a ton of my games and stuff off, because I decided to focus on the nes/snes libraries, also when I collected for every console I was never satisfied because I always wanted more, but now it is easier for me to feel satisfied with my collection because I am working towards a goal instead of just buying everything I see, lol.
When you opened that door was like Heaven.
I use Retro collect for some and others I go to specific console sites that have full lists but the forum members at retro collect know most of the full PAL sets and they have databases of PAL games plus you can get some good deals on games and consoles from their used section.

Not sure on a favorite yet, still have a number to play but I still have a soft spot for all the zelda games, cant go wrong with Mario Sunshine and Double dash for classic pickup and play action. As far as numbers of games, I currently have around 450 but that does include 40 duplicates in the form on the players choice versions that I own, so just under 50 to go to have a full PAL set.

Near cambridge, there isnt a lot around my way now, my local cash converters still have the odd thing in, I think I have picked up around 10 copies of Final Fantasy on PS1 from there in the last 6 months all for 99p each, also got Tombi and Tombi 2 from there. Car boots is still the best place by far, most shops know the value of their games now.... for some reason apart from my local Cash converters... which is nice :)
Never really kept track to be honest, I'm fairly careful on how much I spend, I've only paid full ebay/retail value a couple of times so pretty sure the collection is worth more than what I've spent. maybe £3-4k, lots of car boots, charity shops, gamestation and cash converters.

I'm collecting all the games I grew up with and enjoyed playing, I don't see myself getting a game for money just to expose it on my room...
But nice video, guys like you are keeping the history of video gaming alive and well.

They sell for 150-200 retail. If you can get one cheap at that pawn shop you could turn a nice profit.

i just looked at some N64 pics on google and made my own blueprint using the lego creator downloadable program. Then I went to the Lego site and did a special order of all the pieces. It was oddly $65.65 for everything. The black pieces I used for the base I already owned from back in the day.

Very very nice and tidy. Really like your game room. If space is an issue, you could go the scaler route instead of a crt.

As HOBOsnake said they do retail for around 100-200 but I've never really seen them sell on ebay, so for a collection they might or might not be a good investment, depends on how cheap you have seen them however for SF4 and most fighting games I highly recommend them to use.
Its a hobby dude. Do not take it to seriously. He seems to have his life in harmony so a little harmless hobby is not bad.
