Hey Tash, thank you so much for this pattern. I've never sewn a sweater before and made two of these in three days! It's so easy to sew and has a great fit. Do you think it would work for men as well? My dad likes mine very much and asked me to make him one as well 😆 Greetings from Germany, Jenny
Hi. I’ve just discovered your channel and enjoyed this tutorial. I’ve never heard that tip of changing the differential on the overlocker. I’m definitely going to try that. 😊
Thank you for guiding me through attaching a sweatshirt band , it was very helpful,. Ive' subscribed now and going to check out your other vids oh! and your free pattern I nearly forgot that .
Thank you so much for the free pattern...in my size and with easy clear instructions! It looks easy enough for me to do so am really excited. I don't have any stretch fabric so would like to/need to use non-stretch fabric in my stash....have you tried non-stretch? I'm a beginner sewist so not sure if I need to go up a size- hoping you have tried this. thanks for your help with this :) Another question: Is there finished measurements for each size? As I've found patterns can have different sizings so finished measurements (I was told) are the best way to go. Likely I am a size 20 Canadian thanks
No problem at all! I will have some more free patterns soon too :) Yes this pattern does have finished garment measurements, however please be aware these will be much bigger than the body as the garment needs ease in order to be oversized. I have a bit of info on this in the pattern. I haven't tried non stretch but the fabric I used isn't overly stretchy. I'd say you would probably be ok for the main body but you will need something stretchy for the neckline and cuffs. You could maybe cut on the bias for this though to create some stretch in your woven fabric!
@@nhpatterns Thank so much for your reply that helps. I look forward to your new patterns with non-stretch fabric. Thanks for the great tutorial and free pattern :)
It will totally depend on your machine and your fabric choice, as a really heavy weight sweat shirting may need different to a lighter weight French terry for example. Both stitch types would work though, I’d say to try a few different options on a scrap piece of fabric and see what you prefer! I tend to go relatively narrow with my zig zags and increase the length depending on how thick the fabric is. I’d start with a width of 2 and length of 3 and see how that goes!
Thank you so much for the insight and quick response. I tend to go with zig zag but having been hearing alot about lighting stitch lately. Trial and error for sure.
Thank you for the informative video! How long did it take for you to learn how to do pattern making? Also, you look like Mary Crowley from Downton Abbey haha 😃
Haha thank you! I do get told I look like her, but normally when I have my hair up! I learned during my fashion degree in 2013 and have been continuously learning ever since, I think it’s one of those skills you’re always developing! ☺️
Hi just stumbled across your yourtube and wanted to try heather sweater but link not working 😢and tried going directly to your site but not loading help please???? Xx
Hiya no a problem I have just gone and downloaded look forward to making it and have look at yiur other patterns thank you very much and really enjoying your channel ❤
Hi, I would love to but unfortunately I can only take photos on myself at the moment. Hopefully I’ll be able to get models of all sizes in the future! ☺️
Honestly I don't see why not but i'd maybe make a couple adjustments. I tried it on my boyfriend and it looked kinda weird on him and I couldn't really work out why. It might have just been the size being too small though. I looked at some mens sweatshirts and I think as long as it's made quite oversized in a more slouchy fabric it should be fine! I'd maybe just lower the armhole a bit more and drop the shoulder a bit more to make it appear more oversized and boxy! Men generally have wider shoulders so you want the drop shoulder to still look like a drop shoulder and not just like the seam line is slightly out of place.
This was a fantastic video - straight to the point but chock full of practical advice. I've been sewing a decade and learned new things. Thanks!
Thanks for the pattern❤
You’re welcome 😊

Thank you for the tutorial and pattern. What stitch on a sewing machine would you suggests zigzag or lighting and what length and width ?

Hey sorry I’ve only just seen this! Did you manage to get the pattern in the end? I think my website was down for a few days!
Hiya no a problem I have just gone and downloaded look forward to making it and have look at yiur other patterns thank you very much and really enjoying your channel ❤
where do you buy the fabric?
I’ve popped a link to all the fabrics I’ve used for this sweatshirt in the description box :)
How much yard do we need please?
Hey! If you download the pattern, all the fabric requirements for different sizes are detailed in there based on different width fabrics :)
Is this regular women's sizing - e.g. 8, 10, 12 etc?
@@kats_journey_00 yes it is 😊 (UK sizing so if you’re not familiar with UK sizing, be sure to check the size chart)

can this be unisex?

May I know how long this took
I’ve made so many of these by now so I’m pretty quick, but I can make one of these in about an hour and a half :)
This is the first sweater I have sewn and it took me a little over an hour.
❤🎉😊
