I appreciate you taking the time to go back and appreciate the old guys, man. I grew up on 80’s-90’s NBA. A different game. And A lot of younger people don’t understand how Magic and Bird literally saved the NBA.
Also you should check out the Pistol Pete mix tape. He was born 40 years too soon.
Magic was a phenomenal player. Look at all the hell Larry had to go through to beat LA in their prime!? Kareem ,Magic and Worthy!! Damn!!!
Larry beat the Lakers in the finals once, the Lakers beat Larry in the finals twice. Advantage....MAGIC. Add to that Magic beat Larry in the NCAA Finals game in 1979

@@msw8966 Oh man, theres no question, Ill take the man i was behind 100% for all those years. Magic Johnson every time. And remember, he beat Larry in college as well, and Kareem and Worthy werent there. As far as the superior talent goes, sure, those Lakers were stacked, But the celtics had players too. McHale was one of the all time greats. Dennis Johnson was a Hall of Famer. Robert Parish was a Hall of Famer. They had Bill Walton for a few years. Danny Ainge was a great player. Lots of good role players. The talent between the two teams is very much comparable
Magic had the much better team in college. Kareem is in the GOAT convo and Worthy was the best on a college team that had MJ on it. Magic had better help and a weaker conference. Ever heard of the 83 sixers? They swept every team in the playoffs including Magics Lakers. Bird had to take on the bad boys, the bucks, the 76ers, and the Hawks every playoffs.. Larry had the passing, rebounding, steals, and shooting (which magic didn’t). Larry=slightly better player overall than Magic.

Magic retired at age 32 and only played 12 season and went to 9 finals. His last season he was 2nd in MVP voting and led his team to the finals. He had a lot of basketball left in him. With his game he could've easily played until 40.

Magic and Bird had equal ability when it came to passing, but Magic was a better distributor of the ball since that was his main responsibility

I’m a Magic fan and I couldn’t imagine the terror of facing that fast break. Magic leadership was his main talent and he wanted to win and be called the best. Sure his shot was ugly unless to win a game. His real magic was the clutch shot.
It’s said Magic made easy passes look hard and Bird made hard passes look easy.
Magic's jumper was kind of ugly and tended to have a flat trajectory instead of being a pretty rainbow like Bird or Curry or someone would shoot. But his junior sky hook was beautiful to look at, and his layups.
Imagine being a normal-sized point guard expected to guard 6’9 Magic Johnson.
Ask Dennis Johnson. He did a good job against him.

Hands down, Magic was a better passer than Bird...take nothing away from Larry...he's one of the greatest players ever, and a very good passer, but Magic is highly considered the best PG in the history of basketball!
The '80s were fantastic with Bird and his Celtics and Magic and his Lakers leading the way.....between the two of them, they won 8 out of the 10 championships in that decade....that should tell you something!
I watched that 84 foot shot to beat the halftime buzzer live in the bar of a pizza parlor with a friend as we had meatball subs and shared a pitcher of beer......the Lakers were already beating up on the Nuggets in the first game of the first round of the playoffs when Magic did that.... everybody went crazy!
Besides having AIDS, magic was the first and only Rookie too be Finals MVP and MVP as a Rookie 😵💫
