Winter Heat does a phenomenal job dishing up a fast and fun Winter Olympics in 32-bit video game form - even better than the (admittedly excellent) Konami Track & Field games.

I recalled Decathlete but I didn't know of this one. Not my genre but I must commend its techical quality - colorful and fluid, and the sensation of speed is incredible in the Bob.
This is the second best winter sports video game in History after Epyx' Winter Games C64 version, and it feels a lot - considering everything from the overall tone, art direction, sound effects, music and even the selection of events - like a true spiritual sequel to it, much more than Epyx' own, legitimate one - the disappointing and lackluster The Games Winter Edition. Believe me, I'm a true freak of this peculiar subgenre and I've gone as far as picking up specific systems only to be able to play some console-exclusive entries, so I would now. Particularly interesting fact: both games, which have absolutely amazing music scores, reserve their unarguably best tracks for the last event, which is bobsleigh in Winter Games and cross-country skiing in Winter Heat. Both compositions are clearly inspired by, although not copying it, Jean Michel Jarre's main theme for Chariots of Fire, and the end results are the kind of tunes that, once heard a few times on their proper context, get stuck in your head for life. Truly great games.

I never had a sega saturn as a kid and i never even heard of winter heat then
impressive how this game looks much better than the Nagano Winter Olympics games released around the same time.

Is this game playable if you get the Japanese release? Winter Heat never came out here in America.
+dave4shmups It did get a US release. I'm sure the Japanese one would work fine with an Action Replay, though. It just wouldn't all be in English.
