@pwnzorcush apparently My Apocalypse's riff was written by Kirk, and James went "whoa there's some Exodus in there, some pre-Metallica stuff".. He said that in an interview
I picked this album up by coincedence the day I stopped drinking. It's great music for that. Rocked out hard. That lasted for about a week. Funny thing about the album is that it also makes great drinking music. Fucking LOVE THIS SOLO.
@Streichwurstable you just took the words right out of my mouth. This is the song i listen to everyday on my way to my university, and just today i rewound this part like zillion times because it just gave me the goosebumps.
That riff at the beginning is SO FUCKING SICK, I listen to the chorus of this song and I love that riff, the vocals in the chorus sounds sick too...this whole song is siick...THE ALBUM IS FUCKING AMAZING!
Ask Mr Kirk Hamster whenever you got the chance let me know what he says please...Record the conversation by phone and you tube it ..thank you I’ll would also love to know how it came to be.
that scene in SKOM just makes me cry with laughter every time. "it really.. no I dont think.. delete that" "but Cliff Burnstein said that should open the record" "well not for me, unless I was some guy screaming in some echo chamber.." :D. Torben rules!
Yeah, way to go. I was on the 17. 06. consert in Oslo. and everything was perfect until they started throwing pics and i didn't get one. ruined my day a little bit. But i'm hopefully getting one when they come back to Oslo in april.
love this video. it really shoews how pointless the fight between pick or no pick really is. Any bassist should be able to have both on their playing pallet depending on what the song calls for. thankyou rob!
@956crazyman19 Robert wrote part of All Nightmare Long's riff... on a classical guitar. Sure, it was altered, but the foundation of the riff was written by Trujillo.
@956crazyman19 dude your missin my point,i think trujillo coud play any of james stuff but i dont see james playing flamenco like that with his fingers , or kirk thats why james told him that he makes them play better because his skill set is beyond their other bass players except maybe cliff damn give the boy a little credit!
Ya to the James hetfield tour manager how do you get and win all the Metallica tablature books from every album and how do you win a James hetfield sound pedal
Actually, Death Magnetic was recorded in a really high sound quality. It's not Metallicas fault that some people's speakers arent't good enough to play the high quality properly -_-'
@brybry19871987 lol...good question. I haven't seen him in any of the videos, but yeah, he did produce it. I do recall an interview with Lars and James where they basically confirmed that he was hardly there...
2:51 ! ESP James Hetfield Truckster : 1 088.90€ Audio Technica Microphone : 179.99€ James Hetfield's dance on Judas Kiss, this is absolutely priceless..
@caimanque What's wrong with the drums ? the drumming is good, and the kit isn't bad at all, I don't really like tha sound of the snare, but the reste is fine !
@phantomlord4 double bass wouldn't have sounded right with those albums, but he does use double bass all the time and uses it just fine...watch blackened from the nimes dvd
clikityclak: It sounds like old metallica because he was using the White Gibson Flying V from back in the day & that is the same used on the 1st 3 albums.
OMG look at all those cymbals at 3:20 2 three left crash and hihat, FIVE right crash and of course the 2 right chinas,,, never seen so many cymbals in a lars drum kit, only in earlier days or in studio!!!!!!
@Kaffekopable true alot of people dont realize this. plus its a new metallica album so the general metallica are sellout trolls needed to find something or anything to complain about and they surely couldnt trash the songwriting becuase its fantastic
@Kaffekopable it's not a matter of low or high quality, the problem is the loudness, they compressed the sound way too much, so even with the best possible speakers it's still gonna sound distorted and certain frequencies will be cut out or simply overwhelmed by the global noise... have you heard about the loudness war?... death magnetic is the best example of how loud an album could possibly go... personally i love the riffs and songs, but the gear they used and the production sucks
He switches off if he's doing fast runs like that. Not too often, cause his fingerpicking technique is pretty fast anyways. Either way it sounds amazing. \m/
kirk hammet is ranked on rolling stone's top 100 guitarists as number 1 but i think he should be number 1. i dare say that he is a better guitarist than jimi hendrix. shit on me all you want
@panterasteel im not arguing the viability of the technique im arguing against the fact that drummers arent creative enough to do anything but overuse those techniques, especially when they really dont fit the music(now im not saying i can decide what fits an artists mood in a song but i can have an opinion) and your right drummers like Peart are great because they have a wealth of variety and originality instead of turning into a caricature of themselves
every morning, wake up, bow down to the shrine of the 4 gods that make up metallica. James, Lars, Kirk, Robert. O how I bow and worship as I sell my soul to the great one.
yeah i know that, but for example, st anger lyrics were written by everyone in the same room sharing the ideas in the moment, i know that hetfield writes it all alone and the next day comes with the lyrics but i am sure that the band members helps with fixing some parts of the lyrics
@develia agreed, i have played Metallica on the guitar for a while and found out that kirk isnt the most creative soloer and james is the same way with rhythm
no it is cause it is a no name with a gibson truss rod cover on it that he put on there but in guitar legends magizine he said he used it on the new album
@AJtheGuitarist38 i know that but that doesnt top any of james riffs does it? and it was altered which means lars and james fucked with it till it sounded good
This song makes me have eargasms
My Apocalypse, All Nightmare Long, and The Judas Kiss are the best songs of Death Magnetic.
and That Was Just Your Life
Suicidal & redemtion! , Cyanide ! 👍
And Cyanide, Unforgiven III
Tony is my dad
Death Magnetic is just pure perfection
James is the creator of riffs and teacher of riffs
Kirk is the learner of the riffs (especially on the some kind of monster riff)
PrincessFluffy BKirk has wrote some riff too like the main riff of Sandman
Big Chungus 8 years late but kirks has written a lot of riffs for Metallica
it's all about the notes in between, my guy ;)
this riff is killer, brings back the roots.
@pwnzorcush apparently My Apocalypse's riff was written by Kirk, and James went "whoa there's some Exodus in there, some pre-Metallica stuff".. He said that in an interview
that always amaze me how Jame's right hand is tight; that's insane
0:06 - 0:26 = AWESOME RIFF!!!, my favorite riff of death magnetic
man judas kiss imo is the most old school sounding song on deth mag! its FREAKIN KICKASS! my fave song
This, All Nightmare Long and That Was Just Your Life are not just the three best songs from DM, but also three of Metallica’s best ever ❤️
I picked this album up by coincedence the day I stopped drinking. It's great music for that. Rocked out hard. That lasted for about a week.

James playing is so clean and tight. Awesome.

That riff at the beginning is SO FUCKING SICK, I listen to the chorus of this song and I love that riff, the vocals in the chorus sounds sick too...this whole song is siick...THE ALBUM IS FUCKING AMAZING!
Lars' tennis playing gave him some Cardio to work with. most drummers'd be dead by now.
Alll hail James Holly white flying v!!! From whiplash to judass that guitar (for me) is a legend!!!
James is one of the finest rhythm guitarist ever..
Come on,dudes, it´s not all about James. Kirk is a great lead guitarist!
Thank you for saying this.
I would have loved to see how they wrote the solo for this song.
Ask Mr Kirk Hamster whenever you got the chance let me know what he says please...Record the conversation by phone and you tube it ..thank you
I’ll would also love to know how it came to be.
They never show that process 😐. They’ve only showed kirks attemp on the “ entersand man “ solo. Was pretty cool to see.
Here’s an Excerpt of it 5:08 - 6:16
@AHMADF93 the judas kiss is one very epic song i love how it was made and recorded
