    This helped me solved my fan error super quick! Great video for the 980! My issue was a tiny piece of lump coal stuck in the fan.

    Is there a recall on this grill

  • @BigRedtheGinger
    @BigRedtheGinger 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I gotta look into those fan code solutions. My fan doesn't always kick back on once the temperature drops. I have found that if I open the hopper lid and close it, the fan will work again. Maybe loose wiring or bad connection? It doesn't happen all the time.

    My ERF signal came on. As I was getting ready to grill and the fan keeps coming on and going off. When I unplug it and then plug it back in then it keeps going back to the ERF code. But it does come on for a second and then I go and check the target temperature and move it up to where I wanted to be, but it doesn't move. Which day is it 200 and I don't know if that might be causing it or is it the actual fan the problem? Please tell me this thing was insulated correctly for the mountain.Heed it's gonna endure

      Hey man - make sure there's nothing in the fan box. When that would come on for me, there was a little chunk of charcoal in there that i was able to get out from underneath it with a flathead screwdriver.. through the vent holes.

      I got an open code for the first time after quite a few cooks. Wiggled a few wires around and it's working again. I am getting a little smoke coming out of the back of the hopper and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

    Many thanks, saw that it was a fan error that you identified. There was a tiny piece of charcoal preventing the fan from spinning. A little bit of work to get it out but all good now.

    Thank you for making this video dude! I woke up 7 hours into a brisket cook to find the ERF code. Pit was holding temp remarkably well (I was monitoring it separately), but, I didn't know what that ERF code meant. Unplugged it, plugged it back in and dialed up 10 degrees to see if the fan would kick on. Worked like a charm buddy! Thanks!

  • @matthewl.5059

    I got the ERF last night and I called the support line. they told me to check the fan to see if it was stuck, and if it was fine to take a picture and send it in, once I took the photo, I could see chunks of charcoal in it and when I cleaned it out it was fine. I was surprised on how small the chunks were that stopped the fan. from now on Im going to take photos' of the fan first so I can see what is going on.

    Great grill with terrible electronics. This is getting annoying after a new controller and harness. This could be a perfect grill if they made better components and we paid $50 more for reliability. Charcoal only. No obstructions. Just an underpowered controller and power supply.

  • @robkkorea36

    I have had the erf code and my first step is to unplug and restart, if that doesn’t work I check the fan by seeing if it will spin. Each time there was a little piece of something in the fan and it spun out with manual spinning.

    I think a code of open could eventually result in an erh code. If the fan has not been running for sometime but the fire is generating heat the the code should change from open to erh

    I keep getting erF when I put small chunks in the ash bin. I've attempted 3 times. Yesterday, I was able to run it with same size chunks mixed in the hopper no issue. Anyone else get it anytime there is wood in ash bin?

    • @RobsBackyardBBQ
      @RobsBackyardBBQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't remember the situation when I last had ErF, but I'm sure I had chunks in the pan. Unplugging and replugging in fixed it though. Just make sure you are keeping chunks to the left/barrel side so you aren't melting that flap.

    • @danielfrain3521
      @danielfrain3521 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had that code. And I unplugged and hooked back up like he said and it worked. I checked the ash pan area and the firestarter fell through and I bet that fan flared up the flame and it caused mine to shut off. So I'm wondering if your wood is lighting up.

  • @aronc4597

    This grill is plagued by eRf codes. Don't waste your money. It's a poor design that allows ash/ heat to melt fan during cooks. Skip this grill, as an owner of a 980, it's not worth the money.
