I'm a fisherman. I fish here alot. It's nice to finally see the bottom of this thing. I've only seen the buoys and the top part when they come raise it up to clean it.
We sash it all..all good bro. Nice to fish becuz we eat variety.. benefits of being a spearo and a fisherman.. lucky we live island. Shallow or blue water , it’s all good in the hood
Hey on your profession opinion I have a 110 hatch but no shaft, it bent bad, but would u rather invest in a better gun or just buy a new shaft, the thing is it’s powerful but super bulky, might be a lil big for me and idk if I could fall in love with a better smaller just as good gun. Or learn with that and grow with it.
Buy a matador speargun ... for brue water i recomend a matador or a diablo double roller .. you can even add a another set of elastics .. get a diablo 105 double roller with the thrirs power band!
over in Kewalos there was whole fleet that cuaght these Aku with barbless hooks !! chummed with live baits. they were good for poke. i used to trade them dried Mahi skins for the teaser on da hooks. rough bunch.
Aku is one of the best sashimi/ poke out there...kawakawa...is what u guys call bonito...and that is amazing sashimi/ poke as well...two of the best in my opinion bar none
If you're going to get into blue water, you're going to want a cannon... There's some excellent makers in Hawaii that can craft you a tuna slayer. Keep it local!
Awesome video! We like to cruise out to the fish pens and throw out small lures on super light tackle. Bringing in a 10 lb shibi is a blast on the lighter stuff. We know when the stinos are there we may as well keep going, though! Thanks for the underwater footage showing all of the life there. It is very cool to see it from that vantage point. @3.32: Sarda species of some sort. Looks very similar to the Bonito's we catch here (Bonny's as we call them here in South Africa). Amazing eating and fantastic bait (my absolute 'go to') when surf fishing for sharks and rays (via non-return slide) if casting. Ryan have you spearfished the S.A coast before?

Aku get darker meat than ahi theyre Both good raw but I prefer ahi, however if you try the aku that one is winners too gotta try that one day good vid braddah Ryan 🤙
Next time you make poki, just use the tops of green onions, split length wise, chopped really fine and after you have mixed it with the same amounts of shoyu and sesame oil yoj used, sprinkle with cheyenne pepper powder for a little heat..ono u know
How many times in one month do you actually get out for a spearfish? It seems like you get a lot of opportunity there, pretty awesome. Here we might be lucky to get wet once a month due to the humongous swell in the Southern Ocean. Another great video, however I wouldn’t be able to let the cats sample my food it’d all be for me!

Aku have bigger bloodline or is more fishy.all depends how well you bleed it out or how well you cut out the bloodline.usually locals like the Aku cause of it’s fishy taste.great vid

Invest in a more comfortable one
Don't forget to fry the aku bones so ono good bro and the bellys are excellent for bait or chum but just basic salt pepper and fry the bones amazing

Ryan Aku would be good dried. try it that way keep the blood line when you dry it.
best way to prepare that aku is tataki style ... just look up a recipe for 'katsuo no tataki' and you're good to go

Ahi is 100lbs + Shibi is what you have there. light smoke, hawaiian salt, little bit paprika then dry box for Aku.
