i LOVE how much of the villain martyn can jump into. Its so amazing to see a community that's like "yup we need a hero and villains and story" etc etc. there are so many people/groups that TRY to be the villain and then they dont fully commit - or they back down because of the fans not being in on the bit, but especially with the limited life serious it was *chefs kiss*
Martyn is good about putting people over. He is a very thoughtful content creator partner, he is not selfish. Watching his streams during Rats, was so great, just seeing how he would set up bits purely for other people to have content.
Hope he gets all the love.
I'll admit I was watching Limited Life and before Martyns final turn I was thinking "okay this'll be like a call back to Grian and Scar that's kind of cool but was hoping to see a final fight" but then Martyn turned killed them both and I was just like "woah I didn't see that coming! I love this" I mean that probably wasn't my exact thoughts but something like that, but anyway I absolutely loved it and loved that for entertainment Martyn wasn't afraid to play the 'Villain'
I just wish more people could separate reality from fiction because it was sad to see him get hate, just like how in Breaking Bad people hated Skyler so much they'd disrespect and say horrible things about Anna Gunn who played Skyler like that she was a terrible Actress or comment on her appearance and all these things and it's like no guys it's the exact opposite she's an incredible Actor and great at playing the character who isn't meant to be loved. It's just Sad people are like that.
I have been trying to say this for a long time. Just look at wrestling most of the most famous people are heels like Dwayne the rock Johnson, stone cold Steve Austin and hell even Hulk went heel in the nineties. As long as they aren’t being edgy political hot takes bad it can be a good story telling role.
Scar also does a really good job at playing a heel.
I feel like martyn and scar are both so likeable that i enjoy them playing the villains because then are willing to get fully into the character make for some great fun :)
I always thought Martyn had a voice for radio, had no idea that he actually did radio, how cool.
Martyn is such a fun dude with a great voice that I could listen to all day. I’m glad this is a two-parter, because I’m enjoying this episode immensely.
His voice is incredibly calming, he would have been amazing on radio, but I'm glad he's on youtube since on radio he would have less reach.

Honestly the same, got introduced in 3rd life and just got hooked after the first creeper noise.
This video finally got me to watch the life series, just watched through the entire 3rd life from Martyn's perspective today
Martyn’s third life editing was the absolute best. The storytelling was nothing short of incredible.

I remember Martin playing with Stampy years ago, my sons watched him. It's awesome to hear he married Nette. I remember the boys laughing too death when Stampy taught Nette to play minecraft.
One thing I really like about Martyn’s storytelling is that he’s not actually a villain. He’s an antagonist. He’s really good at portraying a more complex character! Like, in the life series I’d say he’s more selfish than evil or anything. He’s perfectly capable of being kind and working with others, but at the end of the day he’ll serve himself - and that’s such a fun character as an audience! Because you can’t be sure when the other shoe will drop. With a straight villain you know they’re going to fuck shit up and then they do. With Martyn’s last life character you know he could and would. It’s just a question of if and when.
I LOVE seeing all the guests. I'm still really hoping for a woman guest like Gem or Pearl. Maybe Scott too. Although I may be bias. Super fun!!
My vote goes for Mrs Tango. She is so funny and could talk about what it's like to be the wife of a full time content creator, which is such a different perspective from what we usually get.
Cleo would be a good guest i feel

Weekly petition for Mrs Tango to be a guest on the podcast, she is so funny and would have so many great stories and perspectives as the wife of a full time content creator.
I understand you are doing this with a good intention, but at this point I believe that if she wanted to come or had plans to come, it's already been decided.

Please stop requesting it. As a woman of a similar age, I will tell you what your mother has not - that this is a bit creepy. Show your mother your weekly petition and ask her opinion on it. (Im sure your intent is not to be creepy.)
MrsTango has posted in total about a dozen videos. Why is it you want her paraded in front of you? She might be an avid gamer, but what is so inspiring that demands your insistence that she appear? There is a very unpleasant reality and reason that there are few women past their 20s on youtube, and fewer in the gaming sphere dominated by young men and boys.
Im sure its ignorance on your part. Stop asking, please.
@@ogkitty7558just as an aside, Mrs Tango is a streamer in her own right and is also a regular part of Tango’s streams so I doubt this would be something she would shy away from.
Love seeing Martyn as a guest here and hearing him talk about his journey as a content creator!
I have a really wild viewer-relationship with him as a creator, because I was a HUGE fan back in the day of his and still am one now, but I had a gap of about 5 years where I actually didn't watch him at all. Mostly because I was there for his Minecraft content and didn't really have any interest in watching Fortnite vids.
I believe it was back in Nov of 2011 when I first started watching his videos, when I was still in middle school, and he was easy my fav content creator at the time. I was obsessed with all things yogscast, but his merch was the only one I had in my bedroom at the time. I used to race home from school in December to catch his ADVENTure series (esp since it started on my birthday each year and younger me liked to think of it as a birthday present from my favorite cc). But as Minecraft started to die out, around 2014ish, I stopped watching a lot of youtube and ended up actually unsubbing from Yogs and Martyn's channels.
Fast forward to 2020, and I just discovered Grian's S7 Hermitcraft vids at the tail end of the season. I started watching a lot of youtube again (as did most folks), so when 3rd Life started, I jumped on watching the series and I was just hit with nostalgia the moment I heard Martyn's voice in Grian's video. I jumped over to his channel and it was just wild to see how he'd changed! His baby face was gone, he had a beard, *he was married with kids*, it was a really wild moment for me. I've been subbed again and watching his vids ever since. He's still got that energy I loved about him from the start.
Absolutely amazing to think about how he's still going strong all these years later and how I started watching him when I was just starting middle school and now I have a full time job and a bachelor's degree. He's definitely one of the Minecraft YT OGs in my heart and I'm still so happy to see him collabing and having fun with others in the community

Impulse’s editing on Limited Life was fantastic. It was a highlight of each week while that was running.
Martyn is literally the reason I'm here in the Minecraft fandom in the first place. Friends tried to get me into Hermitcraft and I just wasn't interested...until Third Life came along and they knew Martyn's storytelling in that series would hook me in. It did, and I've been here ever since. Cannot tell you guys how much he's influenced my own storytelling. Thank you Imp and Skizz for having him on the podcast!

I still can't listion to born this way without my brain filling in the formed this way lyrics. Hell we litterally played it at my brother's highschool graduation party xD

My first introduction to Martyn was the life series, but what was special for me was when I tried to show my little sister the series. She likes Minecraft but doesn’t watch it so much like I do, so I was super excited to show her this shorter series. Anyway, as soon as Martyn pops up on screen and starts talking, she goes, “Is that Inthelittlewood?” Apparently she adores his play through of Breath of the Wild and was a big fan of his before I even knew he existed. It was a fun connecting moment for us :) I love Martyn’s variety in gaming and his hilarious sense of humor 😁
It's so true: I see Martyn take people under his wing and pull them along all the time - whether it's MCC or SMP series like the Lifes or the latest New Life series (OMG the toy boxes!!!!). You can tell that other creators are trying to keep up whilst at the same time not just crack up constantly

With regards to 28:30 (what you can do quality effort wise in a video vs stream) and 53:50 (the crazy coincidences that happen in content such as the Life series) it is right that absolutely, the effort that is put into post production to make an amazing product on videos is obvious. However, this doesn't mean Martyn can't apply that skillset to his streams. There's one moment that will absolutely stand out to me which was when Martyn was playing on their Ultimate Survival SMP, a short lived streaming series on a pre built map from a few months ago. Martyn was down in an ancient city trying to escape and at the last moment a Warden pops out of the ground and starts going for him. Now he starts bolting it but entirely within this matter of about 2 seconds (Martyn explained later) he saw from the waveforms on the background music he had playing that it was about to hit the peak of its build up and he adjusted on his volume control the music to make it louder, and that combined with the sheer improvised terror in his voice created the most tense and terrifying scene I've ever seen improvised on a livestream, it was absolutely masterful. Martyn is amazing and if anyone wants to see that for themselves it's around the 2 hour and 53 minute mark on his first Ultimate Survival SMP VOD.

When Skizz started talking about Dramatic irony for some reason I was happy? idk most of the time I heard it in my ancient Greek lessons when we would talk about Homer's poems and I got exited when someone like Skizz mentioned it-

I found Martyn way back when he was doing his breath of the wild play threw and stuck around. Watched the Evo series, found Grian and Netty and Jimmy and a bunch of others, and then followed Grian to Hermitcraft. Been hooked on you two ever since. And now having Martyn on your pod cast just feels like coming full circle. So much great content has been a joy to watch ever time. Thank you.
Wow, when Martyn was talking about him caring to much about others and then chancing to care a bit more about himself really hit me as I also have the trouble about caring so much about other that my life has started to get really though for myself.
With these kind of things I always get surprised that other people also go through this and I am not alone, this really cheered me up!

Funny story: My Imp & Skizz pipeline started with early Yogcast & Achievement Hunter for Minecraft TH-cam for the longest time
Then I fell out of Minecraft TH-cam as a fandom for a few years during Quarantine until I heard of the DSMP and then I got tugged into Hermitcraft via Grian and Doc at first
While I watched Grian's first 3rd Life episode, I actually mostly watched 3rd Life because of Martyn being there because I had fond memories of watching his stuff when he did more Minecraft heavy stuff
I then watched all of Season 8 for Hernitcraft which is when I decided that one of my favorite Hermits was Impulse
Then inbetween Seasons 8 and 9, I rewatched Skizz's 3rd Life episodes since I wanted more Martyn and Ren content at first, realized how funny a guy Skizz is and I've been hooked on both of you two since then lol

I have the same non-visualization issue. Being able to sketch a picture from a description helps me, but I understand I’m lucky to be able to do that.

I first saw martyn in the How Do I Craft This Again parody. It is still one of my all times favorite songs up there with Jordan's Fallen Kingdom.

Martyn saying they do not have a mind’s eye (aphantasia) made me feel a shiver, that shiver when something hit close to home.
I have aphantasia too, and weirdly although its a lack of visual imagination, it granted me skills, and probably like martyn said, maybe also the need to see my ideas come to flourtion.

The conversation about hollywood using replay mod. The technology refered to as "The Volume" which was developed mostly for the Mandalorian show and a few other new star wars live action, they are doing almost exactly what replay mod does. Virtual cameras that they can control in post production
I learnt so much in one hour, Martyn is such an interesting person to learn about.

While my favorite episodes so far are the guest episodes, I appreciate this not becoming a guest-based show. By spreading guest episodes out, it makes them more like special events. It's beneficial to everyone, really: It makes the audience more excited, and you don't have to constantly worry about who the next guest is. Either way, I look forward to these every week!
Im almost 50 and i went my whole life not knowing other people didnt have a minds eye...only this last year or so I've heard of others!
All of the episodes are great but I especially love the guest ones because it is so entertaining to hear them talk about events that I might not have known happened prior to listening.
14:03 it's talked about like "not everyone can be the hero of their stories- love it and agree with it. It brings action, however I think equally people being the hero of their own stories and the villain in another is also an interesting idea- at least story wise
on the aphantasia bit at 21:05, I've noticed that a lot of artists can't picture things either. I'm an artist and all I can get is a fuzzy white outline when I try to picture anything in my mind. basically all of my artists friends are this way too.

Martyn is a really cool content creator. I remember I got into his videos back when breath of the wild released, he did a full play-through of it and seeing how invested he gets into what he does and how dramatic he takes stuff is very very fun.

I love ”villain Martyn” in the life series ❤ I’ve just recntrly started watching his POV (which I’m now obsessed with), but he’s also such a gem creating good content and funny moments for the other creators. Like I couldnt stop laughing when Martyn was chasing SmallishBeans just popping up everywhere like ”not even home is safe” from Smallish POV. Like in the end it doesnt really matter who wins tbh its the funny moments and storylines that makes the series fun to watch, and Martyn totally brings that drama to the series

I love all these podcasts so much they’re really fun to listen to. The first one I watched was what makes a leader but I really got into the podcasts after the pet peeves episode I’ve listened to almost every episode since. Thank you for making these. 😁

Talking about the editing of last life, Impulse's final battle angles and camera movement was crazy!
When Martin started talking about his wife being a content creator, I looked up who she was. It was the first time I've heard of Netty Plays and Stampy. So now Stampy is Martin's brother-in-law in my head, which is funny considering how many subscribers he has. Then when I came back, Martin started talking about how Netty tried to strike out and create her own brand separate from Stampy. Which struck me as even funnier now.
I really find these interviews so interesting. I'm a where of Martin for years. When he did some Minecraft vids with the Nerd3. But this really made me watch his life series and I'm amazed of the editing it's so good.
its so strangely comforting to see such a hugely successful creator who also doesn't have a minds eye/an imagination/whatever... despite that issue, i've always loved art and wanted to create, and martyn makes me feel like i could really do that

I was first introduced to Martyn through Lewis and Simon's Yogscast videos when their Minecraft phase was in its prime, so when I was reintroduced to him at the very start of the entire Life Series, that made me super excited! Hadn't been in the loop with what Martyn was doing aside from MCC for a long time up until that point so it's been awesome to see him in long-form content that I regularly watch, especially since he's able to showcase his incredible wittiness while bringing a lot of fun and creativity to the table.
Also, I loved this episode! I'm really really looking forward to part 2 of the conversation! You guys continue to consistently put out episodes that I feel compelled to listen to (and watch if I'm not doing anything else at the same time) all the way through, each and every week. Super awesome to see how the quality is always improving on all fronts :)
Been a Martyn viewer since the start of 2012, having found the Yogs around November 2011.
I always remained a minecraft fan since being a nine year old in 2011 in it's pre-release days, all the way to the current day. I've loved seeing Martyn's return to Minecraft over the past year or so with the life series especially. Through his fortnite era I lost interest, but it really excited me to learn a whole new generation of people are being introduced into his humour and personality, something that played a lot into my own development from childhood to now (my early 20's currently!). Loved the life series and it's been interesting to be introduced into newer personalities I'd have never seen before if not for him.
Talking about Joffrey I have never wanted to punch a kid in the so hard in the face in my life but that’s just shows you how great of a actor he really is

I loved seeing Martyn on the podcast! That was fun. It's really cool that he is at the point of his career that he doesn't "care" what people think if he choses to go the "bad guy" route for content sake. That is pretty good. I admire that in him. He is so creative. I didn't know his wife was a content creator either. He has the cutest daughter.
Just wanted to comment and say both of your interviewing skills have improved a ton. Someone like Martyn could be a challenge because the guy can talk all day but you really balanced listening and keeping the show going. Great work guys, loving it!!

It's so funny it is a brilliant concept and a magical group, couldn't have been done better. Martyn I was unsure how I felt about your character at first and honestly fell on love with each of you, not a single person I would take out if that series you all go off each other so well!

I love these guest videos. I was aware of Martyn from the life series, but never knew how long he has been part of the MC scene. Keep ‘em coming. I’d love to see Iskall and Cleo together. If you could pull that off it would be a total riot.

Love this podcast, been listening/watching it while grinding on MC, or as of today and this ep, I'm actually sitting down and smiling (not that I don't with other eps... but as someone with some issues such as depression and anxiety... I'm used to being told i need to be productive... And these are one of those very special moments for me that i can actually sit down and relax and just focus and stay engaged in whatever I'm watching... I don't even need to crochet, or grind or etc... Which is good for my brain... The more you can focus on one thing, the more enjoyment and benefits you can get from it... We humans weren't made to multi-task. It's just such a good example of good human connection where you can sit together and just talk and listen...It's not even out of politeness... Thank you for this...
Also you creators give me the best advices on things... including not being liked about people, and things about your own anxieties to be productive or to be able to do your best, creative blocks and all.. Thanks.. I'm 32... but what a day to be alive on the internet... when you can find actual people sharing things.. and I know it's a podcast... but it honestly feels less like those vids on: "how to's" --we need more of this.. I sure hope you guys get to read this... Love you all...

Bdubs would be great! I'd love for them to talk about how he used to do the whole vlog thing and what that is like for a creator.
