Golden CO is home to Coors Brewing company. There is a massive brewery there but it's also a historic town with the Colorado School of Mines and some great views of the surrounding mountains. I've wanted to visit Golden for many years; it's right outside Denver, but I just haven't made the time. So, today we hike around downtown and then up to the School of Mines and through a historic neighborhood. We finish up down by the river aka Clear Creek, a beautiful little stream that runs through the valley. I was really impressed with this town..
Question of the day: I've had many people express a desire for no Narration but many more seem to enjoy it. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I could record the ambient sound and my talking at the same time. I usually try to speak extemporaneously so narrating after the walk doesn't appeal.
Thanks everyone who shares their ideas!
Also, I enjoy your comments on other topics, personal stories, corrections, and added info so keep those coming. Keep on Steppin'

The City of Golden is the Home Rule Municipality that is the county seat of Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. Golden lies along Clear Creek at the base of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Founded during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush on June 16, 1859, the mining camp was originally named "Golden City" in honor of Thomas L. Golden. Golden City served as the capital of the provisional Territory of Jefferson from 1860 to 1861, and capital of the official Territory of Colorado from 1862 to 1867. In 1867, the territorial capital was moved about 12 miles (19 km) east to Denver City. Golden is a part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 18,867

Wow this was a great town. Loved the older buildings and mature trees, not to mention the mountains in the background 😊
Yeah, it's really nice and nestled into this great little valley. Thanks for watching. -H
We also have the Colorado Railroad Museum but nearer North Table Mt
I’m sorry to have missed that. I love a good Museum. Thanks for the info. -H
The castle like building you referred to is the old Colorado National Guard Armory.
Wow. Great. Thanks so much for that info. Golden is a cool city. -H
Buffalo Rose downtown is a famous bar with live music and 100+ years old...and has a few different restaurants....it's in Jefferson County and has Buffalo Bill s Grave on Lookout Mt with hiking and great views..on Lariat Loop going up you see Mt Zion with a White M....for School of Mines....every Fall School of Mines Freshman bring a White Rock up and in June Seniors take a White Rock down
Thanks for the info! It’s so great when locals add in the details like this. Makes me want to go back and explore more. Cheers -H
That made me feel relaxed 😎
A great walking tour as always
Glad you enjoyed -H
Hi Henry. Thanks for the walk. I like that you found the mining college through chance exploration. Nice campus, although I'm not a fan of how mining has co-opted much of the field of geology. I enjoyed the bit of the living history exhibits along the creek trails as well. I would love more of that (Bannack ghost town was great). Be well.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback. -H
I just watched this again as I'm missing my son and watching this felt like the thing to do. I was curious to know what you use to keep your camera so steady. And did you shoot this with a phone, DSLR or GoPro or something else? Also, it looks like it was pretty windy there that day, how did you not capture the wind sound on your microphone?
Hi Andy, Thanks for watching again and for the questions. I currently use a DJI Osmo Pocket 2. It has a little wireless mic that comes with "dead cat" furry bit that you can put on it to cut wind noise. Most little cameras also come with a software based wind dampening option that will cut the gain/power level when the sound gets too strong. It can be tough when it does that while someone is talking though so I usually turn it off. I'm glad to hear that the wind noise isn't a problem. I also, often go in while editing and add a low cut filter that cuts out the lowest frequencies like wind noise on the mic. -H
I love your talking, it would be very boring without some commentating about the area! Keep doing what your doing. Would Even like it if u would talk louder.
Hi Lisa, thanks so much. It’s always a balance between relaxing soothing voice and louder voice that might draw attention while I walk. But thanks for the input, it’s good to know this type of thing that viewers may be wanting. -H
You speak slightly negative of your constant talking, but you are also (to some of us) a tour guide, so please continue & 'narrate' as YOU feel comfortable...
And some may enjoy seeing Statues & Monuments, remember it is WE who tune-in and may never have a chance to visit many of these places. Thank you/ Respectfully.
Thanks so much. I've received some (constructive) feedback over the years asking for silence and sometimes I feel like I'm constantly jabbering. Thanks for the reassurance. As much as I"ve tried to go totally silent, I just can't seam to do it anyway. ;-) -H
I'm not sure there's any way you can record the ambient noise and speaking at the same time. Most of your followers probably don't mind the dialogue bc it gives them a real time feel for being in a place they have no personal knowledge of. Not speaking in certain areas, such as residential areas, may be the only viable way to do something like that. You have nearly 26k followers, so I wouldn't stress too much about it.
Thanks so much and yeah, but I'm a people pleaser and want to make as many people happy as possible. Thanks for the feedback. -H
