      I watched this movie 7 years ago at midnight, on a mobile phone😄. From that moment, a feeling told me: I am watching a work of art and a masterpiece. Because it gave me chills.
      I wish I could clear my mind. And watch this movie again. 💔

      I REALLY hope that they do a 10 year anniversary showing of the movie in Theatres. I've never seen this in a movie theatre, and in my opinion, it is THE best movie of all time, so I can't wait to get the opportunity to actually see this in an amazing setting.
      I've easily watched it 10+ times since I found out about it back in like 2017/2018, and I'll never get tired of seeing it.

      If you have children, the whole movie is just one big emotional wrecking ball. Someone asked me to describe this movie in one sentence because they were told it was way to complicated. I said, "A father's love for his kids transcends space and time." They watched it based on that and said it was one of the best movies ever. 😅

    The 15 most impactful minutes of cinema history in my view. After being slapped in the face by the Wave on Miller's planet we then get punched in the gut by the 23 years scene. Remarkable.
    And the music. Single notes playing a very simple ascending, descending melody work perfectly with the devastating realisation of lost time to emotionally smash the viewer to pieces.

    • @oldscratch3535
      @oldscratch3535 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michaelcantu6071 No, its 7 years per hour. That's what the movie established. You do realize that time in a movie doesn't have to correlate 1:1 with the actual run time right? And the time dilation doesn't start when you land on the planet. It starts as soon as you enter the gravitational influence of the black hole so they were experiencing time dilation even while de-orbiting and landing. To them, they were gone around 3 and a half hours.

    • @michaelcantu6071
      @michaelcantu6071 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@oldscratch3535 I never claimed that the screen time corresponds with the actual time, and I understand that they may have been experiencing time dilation while in orbit. What I don’t understand is why Brand says she got the theory wrong if she’s not talking talking about 1hr=7yr? They had to have known about how long they were gone. If they were gone for ~3 hours, why were they so surprised when he said 23 years? I’ve only seen the movie once so I could be getting this wrong, but it’d be helpful if you could answer these questions.

    Understanding the huge scale of the universe... Understanding that time is relative according speed and gravity can leads to a kind of terror in the human mind... I love this movie because of that, because it makes me understand that our life is a very small instant compared to the huge time scale of the universe and that makes me being afraid of that infinite darkness, that infinite cold space, afraid of living in a dot of dust floating into nothing and make me to realize what a simple being am I (and we are)... And because of that I just try to enjoy this casualty called life as good as possible and admire the misteries of the universe and the greatness of the human being in the study of it...

The fact that they use space and time disorientation to perfectly capsules what it feels to be disconnected through time with those people you cherish, while there's literally no effort could be made to solve the problem since you're millions of light years away, using the emptiness of space and a small screen to connect lost messages while we also struck by those beautifully arranged piano tunes. this is a great observation and annoyance to point out. At least here we can individually see people react versus having to scan around the entire screen all the while hearing so many different voices talking over one another.

    I had delayed to watch this movie for 9 years, and I watched it about 2 weeks ago at the time of posting this. What a gut-wrenching gem this is. I was blown away, scattered and then united. I found the wait worth it. This movie is in my top 10 classic and timeless movies.

    I love how most reactors play up their reactions a little (some a lot) for the performance (and there is nothing wrong with that) but when this scene hits, their reactions just gradually tames down and you can tell there is no performance, there is no act. Just, raw emotions.

    *Interstellar is one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made.* This movie genuinely contributed to the scientific community, they actually got 2 research papers published about this. When Christopher Nolan was working on this movie rather than have an “artist’s concept” of what a black hole would look like he worked with a physicist named Kip Thorne and asked him how black holes work. So Kip gave him a bunch of maths, they sent the math to the VFX team, they put it in their render engine (which is far more powerful and expensive than anything that exists in the community) and what it produced was completely unexpected. They knew that a black hole would have what’s known as an accretion disc, but what they didn’t expect as this weird halo effect around it. The VFX team thought it was a bug so they sent it to Kip and he both confirmed that that’s what it would look like and was surprised on how well it looked. This is what a black hole would look like because the gravity is so powerful that it’s pulling light from the other side and causing you to see a second halo because you are seeing the other side of the black hole.
    And the time dilation is 100% accurate. If you are near something with a strong gravitational pull like a planet larger than earth or a black hole your “clock”, meaning your time, will run slower than on earth. I’m still surprised that 8 years later no one else has used that in a sci-fi movie or tv show.
    As for the movie itself, it is one of the most emotionally powerful and emotionally draining movies I have ever experienced. The scene of Cooper saying goodbye to his daughter before he leaves always makes me tear up, but when he sees the video messages from his children and sees how they have grown up over the past 23 years, I breakdown in tears and ugly cry just like McConaughy!

    When you watch this as someone who is care free and single, its very sad part of the movie.
    Fast forward almost a decade, and you watch this then as a parent, and there is nothing more sorrowing, than the fear of losing your children, having never died, but in their eyes, you had.
    Some scenes pull on the heart strings in cinema. This pulls on something....entirely different.
    Only one other film did this, and it was the time traveler's wife. I'm yet to return to that film (now being a parent).

    This movie surprised me and it was rough. I went in expecting to see a film about black holes and some sort of existential crisis humanity was facing. And while it delivered that to perfection, what I didn't expect was the humanity and emotional impact of it. To date the only movie I've seen that elicited this kind of response from me in a theater. Props to Nolan and everyone else involved for somehow turning a movie about black holes into an emotional, gut punching rollercoaster ride
